  1. I'm with Bulb and have been for over a year. They've been good with queries and I've not had any problems with the service. You can see a graph if your energy usage over time which is useful. They're one of the cheaper suppliers too. Here follows the obligatory referral link which will earn you (and importantly me)a ?50 credit if you switch through it www.bulb.me/jamesc1307
  2. There were two healthy looking Jays in my garden this morning.
  3. JohnL Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I always get the feeling that little girl isn't > 100% honest and the shopkeepers being fooled. > > But that's terribly cynical :) You're not alone, I think her Mum sent her in because she wanted some chocolate for herself
  4. Definitely do it yourself, I honestly thought it would be difficult or that I would get into some sort of trouble but it was no more painful than printing the letter in Martin Lewis' website that Ilona linked to above and sending it off. This is something you really shouldn't pay someone to do for you.
  5. Another one who is very pleased to see him back home. If only they could talk.
  6. Thank you very much to Stephanie for using the link I put up.
  7. I've been with them since the summer and it has been fine. The direct debit has stayed where they quoted and I'm in credit on the account. The app is quite good for giving meter readings. I imagine my credit to be used up over the winter though. There's no penalty on my account for leaving so they're worth a try if you need to change supplier. You can always switch again if a better deal comes up. If you want a referral link then mine is https://bulb.co.uk/refer/jamesc1307
  8. You're only allowed a bonfire up there on November the 5th so he was probably trying to get his weeds and grass burnt off before he went to work. I suppose the alternative would be to burn into the night tonight after work.
  9. We've not had internet for two weeks also, an engineer was supposed to come today, I took the day off work and got a message to say they'd called and no one was home. Called them back and explained that either they'd gone to the wrong address or that was porkies. They told me the engineer would be back between 1-2 I gave them two mobiles to try if they found they couldn't get access (in case it was just a case of ropey satnav) at 2pm still no sign so called back to be told the engineer had called at the empty house and phoned both numbers and got no reply. I told them that was definitely a lie as I'd done nothing but sit by the window for an hour waiting for them. Cancelled the account - I can live with occasional service issues but being lied to really pees me off.
  10. There's at least three tawny owls within earshot of me tonight
  11. I liked your Chafer bug Cornelia, they are great when the sun catches them.
  12. I love these.
  13. I also love soda crystals, they are really cheap and seem to have a use for everything around the house.
  14. Depends who is on the road, if the bike is coming down to turn left then like with a car you wouldn't step out in front of it. Likewise if a pedestrian is already crossing then any vehicle coming down should allow them the chance to cross. Probably if there's been a disagreement then both parties are likely to feel they had the right of way.
  15. Agree, took my Mum for a walk round there yesterday and it was really good. Might have to get some fritillaries (?) and make one of those garden bed things myself. And they've made a new path where the nature bit was at the edge but it's not open yet.
  16. Glad that update thing is not only me, it is the same in Firefox BTW
  17. I've been using My Fitness Pal since October and it is really good as long as you are honest with it. It will find out your weak spot, for me it was denial about how many chocolate digestives I ate. I linked mine with Endomondo which tracks activity and you get a really clear picture of what you're doing right and what's wrong. There's also an email they send out which is surprisingly interesting (not the usual spam) different exercises and recipies
  18. What happens to the view of the green roof if the new owners lose interest in maintaining it? What does it look like in that situation? Also aren't the single storey garden developments you mention such as summer houses etc seen as temporary structures and not for residential use unlike the dwelling house you propose (although beds in sheds springs to mind)
  19. My pond is full of small bugs, shrimplike things but I haven't seen any decent sized creatures in there. I did see two chaffinches though
  20. There is a 1949 photo here but the big house had already gone http://www.britainfromabove.org.uk/image/eaw022349?search=lordship%20lane&ref=2
  21. By the way they changed the lights now so it makes more sense. There's no longer the red right turn like there was before. So now both lanes go green and you can pull forward and when there is space in the oncoming traffic just turn right. There's no danger of colliding with people leaving Lyndhurst Way because they will be on red when you are on green
  22. I'm glad I'm not the only one to wonder about this. I figured that I would go forward with the two lanes of traffic (which is green) and then pull into the right to turn, and then wait at the light...there's only space for about two cars in that bay though so I don't know what happens if more want to filter.
  23. The rabbbit one had me stumped for ages, I think the writers are american
  24. I've also had Jersey Tigers for the last couple of years, this year I had a few Gatekeepers too which are really smart looking.
  25. Had a look at the exhibition today and its really good, I've wanted to get inside the waiting room for ages. Interesting to be able to see how the roof was put together (from the inside) also liked seeing the trains coming up the track from the windows at the front, you can see quite a long way up. It will definitely look better when the front is open but I think the commercial units at the sides are a bit heavy and still block the frontage a bit. It would be cool to have everything open all the way to the Groves either side but I suppose keeping the commercial income is unavoidable. What about if the front of the units was angled back as it comes towards to the station then you could see all the victorian bit without any interference. I don't like the idea of metal and glass either especially if shops keep the stock upstairs and all you can see through that glass is piles of boxes and junk.
