For many years we had Great Tits and Blue Tits on our feeders but much fewer these days, replaced by lots of Sparrows - House and Hedge or as a friend of ours call them LBJ's - Little Brown Jobs. The Parakeets spot the feeders and come in two and threes and manage to hang upside down to feed.

My wife also complains of the smell. We think it is of fried onions

We had moths for years and caught masses on the pheronome traps, little realising that we were attracting moths from miles around. Having talked to a lady in John Lewis, who said as long as we had carpets we would have moths, we changed all our flooring to wood and hoover the inside of the wardrobe fairly regularly, plus using the spray you can buy from DIY shops. But the best thing is the electrical tennis racquet. As soon as we got it the moths vanished. Killing them with this is much more humane than the sticky traps. And much more satisfying!

Looks as though this Saturday is the last day for this office.

To be fair to the OP. There is a company called DG Splasbacks based in Robertsbridge, Surrey with a very good website. So this might not be a dodgy post.

We have used Milk and More for several years. Very reliable. Delivered to the door.

Drilling and knocking nails into rock hard walls - tips please
wolis replied to malumbu's topic in The Lounge
Malumbu, You need an SDS drill - rotary impact drill. Will easily get through anything including concrete. We have a similar wall between our kitchen and bathroom in our early 1900's flat. My SDS drill had no trouble at all. Can be hired from HSS or similar. You will need special bits to fit as well but if you have a lot to do would be worth it. -
Saw a male and female Blackcap in our garden on Sunday morning. Not seen here before. Lets hope they are going to start breeding locally. We are in Tyrrell Rd area.

Radiator covers reduce the heat output from the radiator by quite a considerable amount. If you have a rad with fins on the back you will need to rout a thin slot in the top to allow the hot air to come through. I have made a lot of covers for a interior designers in the past. I am now retired but Whitten Timber make them to the customers measurements.

We had our bath re-enamelled over 20 years ago by Renubath, based in Fulham. Took the best part of a day. 5year guarantee given. Bath has lost some of it's shine but is still good. Only use washing up liquid to clean, cream cleaners will damage enamel as they are too abrasive. Well worth doing and cheaper than a new bath plus cost of fitting etc.

Dr Scorer retires - Forest Hill Clinic
wolis replied to treehugger's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I echo all the plaudits for Dr. Scorer. She'll be missed by so many patients for her great personality and manner as well as her professional qualities. So sorry to see her go. -
Yes Flocker Spotter that's our man. Strange character.

We also went and it was a great atmosphere. I'm sure it makes not the slighest difference to the powers that be, but at least we made some noise and made ours views felt. Learnt something from one banner "Boris was sent by God to get us out of the EU" Mind you the guy holding the banner was dressed as a little elf without any trousers so perhaps not too reliable.

Hand held Moth Zapper I think. Probably Plough or Dulwich DIY would know what you mean.

We used to have a great moth problem and tried everything including dry cleaning ALL clothes. An assistant in John Lewis when asked for her advice asked if we had carpets and we said yes. She said 'then you will never get rid of them'. We got rid of the sticky pads. Apart from the nightly job of squashing the still living and struggling ones which was upsetting, we realised that it was attracting evry moth from far and wide. Males can detect the scent from miles away. Ordinary moths have a range of 7 miles apparently. We bought an electric swatter in the shape of a tennis racket which is easy to catch them with and they frizzle instantly. Overnight the population disappeared. We have now changed to wooden floors. They don't like manmade carpets so that's an option. Still see the occassional one but easy to spot against pale walls. Also we hoover in the wardrobe and bedboxes and corners fairly regularly. With a Henry of course and empty it straightaway. Got that tip from the internet today. Still use lavender bags and a spray from Lakeland. Ongoing battle.

Posh paint with children on the loose!..
wolis replied to Sarahbeee's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I would go with Little Greene, much nicer to use than F&B. Polyvine decorators glaze is very good..We have protected our special finished wallpaper with it and on handpainted furniture. Available in Gloss, Satin or Dead Flat. Very easy to use and durable. Plough Homecraft do some of the range but Brewers near New Cross have the full range. -
had some but now been colledted

Anyone local take cars away for scrap or similar?
wolis replied to Sally81's topic in Request a Tradesperson
We gave our old Renault to 'Give a Car', who collect and sell for scrap and raise money for a nominated charity. Worth trying them. -
Yes we had one in our garden yesterday morning around 10 am . It was interested in the bird feeder but wary of the Great Tits feeding and flew off. Not seen one before in this garden. We are in the Tyrrell Rd./ Barry Rd. area.
