  1. How over populated do we need to get before someone states the obvious, how many can the world sustain? Fish stocks dwindling. All kinds of animals becoming extinct or perilously close. Trying to reach oil a mile below sea level. Aren't these all signs that mankind is out of control, close to the edge of collapse?
  2. Perhaps it was 50% of the domestic fuel for houses. It must be right, I heard it on radio4!
  3. My humble apologies, I shall try harder in future.
  4. The three million unemployed are just that and not working for your benefits does not benefit them or society. There are plenty of jobs to be done around the place, so why aren't they put to good use and maybe learn a trade for when they get out.
  5. Dear Grand National Jump, I am very sorry to have upset your good self, it was not intentional you understand it just blurted out as it sometimes does as I approach the morning of my senility. I will do my best not to blurt out any more of this nonsense as you suggested in your crystal clearly defined post. Ps are you ever referred to as 'easy chair' or possibly er wooden chair.....

In short, this isn't the exercise yard, so play nice. Soooo sorry mr scribe sir it wont happen again, even though it made me laugh out loud.
  7. The only time toads enter the water is to lay eggs attached to vegetation, other than that they are in the words of Kenneth Graham's 'Wind in the willows' "nasty dry things".
  8. Quite so zeban. I have never had much success with job centres either, the local newspapers were the only places we could afford to advertise in, and had any joy from subsequent employees. Brook st bureaus type places were far too expensive to even consider.
  9. The more that join the better your chances, because you can barter when you buy in quantities, and you can buy large 'economy' sizes. Dishing each portion from the same sized ladel, would avoid greedy pigs.
  10. zeban wrote:-They only get away with not being outlawed because they say you don't 'have to' sleep with the customer! That is rarely the case they are usually fully alert:)) Pablogrande perhaps if you advertise the post on the Borough forum too you may get more interest shown as the people would be able to walk to the job. Just a thought.
  11. When we had babies I put the cot next to her side of the bed and raised it up on books so that the cot mattress was the same level as the mattress on our bed. This way she could scoop up the baby and feed it with minimal movement and inconvenience, and then shove baby back to her cot afterwards and not emerge from under the duvet. This prevented mum from traipsing around getting freezing cold hands and feet which would ultimately land in the middle of my back. Has any man out there been to bed with a woman with warm hands and/or feet, because I never have?
  12. *Bob* wrote:- Are you saying you don't find the look of a Victorian house with (essentially) a cheap black portacabin sitting on top aesthetically pleasing? Well I do, but only if it's on my property!
  13. I do try to be aware all the time of cyclists, but with the best will in the world they can and do surprise you being suddenly and instantly alongside very close to the car. It is not acceptable to arrive suddenly on the nearside rear and expect everyone to know you are there, the only one who would know is the driver behind you. If you had been stationary and the car overtook your position I would expect the driver to know your whereabouts, but not if you arrived on the scene when the car was already in position at the roundabout. Ramble I must pop along to see what this 'exciting' roundabout gets up to:))
  14. Franklins farm shop would suffer very little as it is a permanent fixture, and the market would be only for Sundays I presume.
  15. I think that is temporary Jeremy and Japan's future seems far more certain than ours, in fact any country which successfully reduces their dependency on oil by 50% in little over twelve months is not to be ignored.
  16. A lady who lived nearby when we were having babies lost hers quite late in the pregnancy, and therefore dropped out of the clique. No one wanted to see her or talk to her when you are pushing your baby and she having lost hers, it was too embarassing to contemplate, what can you say to the grieving lady, sorry to hear of your loss. Anything you could think up to say just seemed so inadequate and futile.
  17. It is amazing that their religion is not outlawed, one cannot live alongside them peacably they have to convert you if they fail to do so you are their enemy. If I went around preaching such stuff I would expect to be gaoled pretty quickly.
  18. Huguenot wrote:- Besides, the Japan Economic Miracle ended a least two decades ago, since when its been a basket case. The Japanese exported their filthy industries to Korea, and other places. They have a strong currency and are loaded, a strict regime yet they are very civilised and extremely industrious. How I wish I belonged to such a basket case, is your brain going softish with all that heat, and foreign food out there Huguenot?
  19. Scribe wrote:- What are your views on introducing chain gangs into the UK penal system? Well over due! They should be made to work for their daily bread, and if they don't work, then no bread! All violent criminals should start their sentences with a flogging, preferably administered by the victim. SeanMcG will be wringing his hands with disappointment when he reads this post.
  20. what it must be like for the estimated 1.4 billion people living below the extreme poverty line. wrote AJMoore. Stick around for a few months/years and my guess is we will all know from personal experience.
  21. Perhaps if you ask a different priest he might be able to explain it more clearly.
  22. Perhaps Peckham Rye as a possible site?
  23. Soooo that's what she was doing, are you looking forward to the litter of pups Mscrawthew?:))
