  1. Cyclists are the most courageous travellers in this town. There seems little provision for them to maintain their good health. Get rid of bus lanes and make more cycle tracks.
  2. Where would it be situated? Where would their trucks park up?
  3. You will need to shower and change when you get in to work after a 20 mile slap. Perhaps an electric bicycle or electric motor cycle might be the way forward, 40 miles per day is an awful long commute on pedal power.
  4. ...and you thought dog ownership was a breeze.... I think the owner's offspring should have cleaned up the mess of her pet and if she was incapable she should not have an animal that is beyond her capabilities. Dogs are a full time gig and gippy tummies and various messes to be cleaned up are all part of the wonderful package of dog ownership. That particular breed's longevity is around four years, due to inbreeding.
  5. All the regular hunters I know are farmers and they are very 'matter of fact' about the death of an animal. To watch someone gut and skin a rabbit in a couple or three minutes is a fascinating although pungent scene. All our ancestors hunted, they had to to survive, but these days because of the sake of efficiency it comes vacuum packed and we are removed from it. When hunting deer on the large estates they developed the ghillie suit made from fronds of burlap which enabled the stalker to lie unseen until the animal came within range of his 'scope. The ghillie suit was then adopted by snipers in the various wars.
  6. I have only just learned (thanks to Ms_Lilith) how to present the Bill Hicks video. I can only hope some kind soul will private message me the instructions on how to "do a link" as I do not want to drain any power from David Carnell.
  7. To see Bill Hicks at the Edinburgh Festival.
  8. If I knew how I would put something on here of Bill Hicks.
  9. I thought the two murders were the important part of the statement, not which part of the road the victims met their untimely demise!
  10. The cafe at the church at the top of Barry rd has lots of room. There are usually toddlers around for the babies to watch and be amused by too.
  11. I would ask such questions only if he was not happy.
  12. It certainly is zeban. Mine went to Alleyns but there were no trips costing that much east-of-the-rye and had there been mine would have been waving the coach goodbye from the pavement outside the school. What is the point of such a trip when you can do so much for more, for soooo much less. That kind of money can take the whole family away, and still have some change for ice creams.
  13. I would rather see the community wardens than having the police station full of police personnel, that one never sees except when they enter, or leave the yard, and close their electronically controlled ten foot high gates behind them, almost as if they are under seige from the general public.
  14. Perhaps 'stocks' being erected on Goose Green for local acts of mindless vandalism and other "petty" crimes seemingly too expensive for the judiciary to deal with effectively, might be a solution as a future deterrant. Think of the media attraction for such a device, I suspect that figures for petty crime would plummet.
  15. Stick a "smiley" sticker over the damage!
  16. I agree with Pugwash, it is more akin to Borough market on price, and I personally prefer the Brick lane Sunday market prices for fruit and veg.
  17. For long trips I take my Ipod with various classical unabridged books down loaded from the net, for a mere fraction of the cost of a set of cd's or tapes. I also take cd's and tapes for a long car trip though.
  18. If I was calling and whistling at a female I would be chastised for being sexist, because immigrants do it it sounds like it's okay and they should not be criticised. Double standards here people. buddha has every right to walk down the street and be free from any catcalling. Regarding the quality of the neighbourhood it is at best OK for a London borough. I consider it to be nothing special from what I observe locally and read from this forum. Having 2 murders in as many months in that road has done little to sway my opinion.
  19. I heard of people using Twitter to find out what was happening in Egypt as the news was useless.
  20. The people who buy the BBC from third parties do they need a TVlicence?
  21. Burglary 64 Anti-social behaviour 191 Robbery 28 Vehicle crime 64 Violent crime 84 Other crime 128 559 crimes in SE22 postcode during December2010
  22. There is one in Barry Rd just above underhill rd, it seems to be coming to the end of a big refurbishment I haven't been in it, but none of these places are cheap.
  23. Crystal Palace has boats and pedaloes with a much larger lake but I thought it was only during the summer, hopefully I may be wrong.
  24. I buy the cheap Asda ones and heat them up on the lowest setting on the smallest gas ring, put my plate over the top of the saucepan as a lid (this heats the plate) and wait a few minutes stirring once or twice, before pouring through a strainer which removes the excess salt and sugar locked in the sauce, and then they hit the plate with the rest of the fried potato and either bacon or sausage.
  25. To make this a better place means I presume, is restore law and order. This can only be done by government who are busy cutting back on all services, and having a bunch of vigilantes is I believe illegal. So unless you quadruple the police on bikes, on foot, in cars and over all hours of the day and night I would like to know what exactly can be achieved by this community.
