Together with the food stalls mentioned I have to say I regularly use Sparkes' van for fantastic Label Anglais chicken (better than anything from W Rose) and their Clonakilty White & Black puddings are wonderful. Also a fan of the little Italian stall sometimes there selling hot/spicy and fennel-flavoured salamis. Agree with praise for the cheese stall, Blackbird, pies, dumplings etc. all good. For new stalls - would be nice to see stalls offering fresh local produce - I know honey is made locally and sold in delis and I know people are trying to arrange to swap surplus fruit/veg on the forum so why not a community stall(s) which could be leased out by the week as and when local people had a surplus to offer. Doesn't matter if it's somebody's overabundance of damsons/apples/tomatoes etc. or the jam/juice/chutney they make from it - if there's a desire for it then it can be done.

Very sorry to hear this Strawbs - what absolute swine.

Agreed Voyageur but perhaps terms of use modelled on the EDF which start: "This forum is intended to be for use by people who live in, drive through, have an interest in or just want more information about London's East Dulwich." Might be seen as an introduction to a "friendly online local community" more than their current: By accessing ?The Dulwich Forum? (hereinafter ?we?, ?us?, ?our?, ?The Dulwich Forum?, ?http://www.thedulwichforum.com?), you agree to be legally bound by the following terms. If you do not agree to be legally bound by all of the following terms then please do not access and/or use ?The Dulwich Forum?. Is it intended for lawyers only?

There is only one thing in life worse than an uncomfortable swivel chair and that is an uncomfortable chair that doesn't swivel.

I have started watching this (recorded it at the time and am finally working my way through - worth sticking with) or is there a new Spiral? -

Could we not persuade more producers/purveyors of food and drink to take stalls instead of the over priced second-hand tat that makes a lot of the market look like a poor man's portobello? Apart from the fish van - who obviously wishes to take advantage of those going down LL with no intention of venturing into Northx so wants to be as near to the corner as possible - one has to negotiate cruddy furniture and shabby clothes before reaching other food stalls and sometimes it seems too much of a bother. Put the clothes 'antiques' at the far end and the food etc. nearer LL and I bet more people would use the market.

SC: As replicants what "matters" is proliferation of our selfish genes. But this carries a responsibility for the raising and educating (small e) of offspring/replicants which can detract from discovering whether there is or should be meaning. A natural submission to the accepted primary function of all life. MP: I guess the corollary to the 'is there a god' thread is that if there isn't then there is no meaning to anything. Correction: No known meaning - as the great philosopher Rumsfeld once said: ? [T]here are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns ? the ones we don't know we don't know. ? Had to wiki the exact quote but as an atheist I find the argument "If not God, then what?" can and should be countered with "I don't know... yet. But I am curious still and have not stopped looking."

Forbid cat - using all known techniques - from using catflap under any circumstances, put precious work papers down on far side, lie by catflap as though this is the only place you get a bit of peace and quiet if all else fails bolt and padlock catflap - this will ensure cat uses flap in record time.
