  2. T. Brown - right...you never know when you're well off. When I think of the campaign to get the Icelandic biscuit boy to buy the club instead of Kia Joorabchian's mates... well i guess we got what we deserved in delboy sullivan and rodney gold. They have been so busy calculating the money they'd make from taking over the olympic stadium they forgot to run the bloody club. I mean... Jacobsen?!??

Yes but at least the 3 clubs who don't get promotion from the play-offs can threaten to sue QPR and hope to settle out of court for ?20-30 mill (maybe they should ask McCabe for advice). Though after today's fiasco i would almost swap chairmen with the blades - did McC. ever not travel to a crucial away game 'cause he thought his team would lose anyway? Rumour has it the players that are left at Upton Pk. will be undergoing extensive training as Karen Brady has bought a job lot of banjos and hired a field of cows for the summer.
  4. mine is new, short, but a little different? with your experience as curry club captain Michael I am expecting a menu to die for. curry menu
  5. After reading the many, many posts about the curry houses in the area I'm beginning to think the best take away would be a compilation of dishes from various restaurants. my choice: Curry Cabin... 'Meat Samosa' Swadesh... 'Treat for Two' starter Ghandi... 'Captain Patilla' (sic) Jaflong... 'Naga Chicken' Two Sisters... 'Tarka Dall'
  6. One man's meat etc. If you do try Jaflong get their naga, a drier curry and hot but not scarily, the kind of heat you expect from a good jerk chicken if you know what I mean. It lingers but doesn't scar the inside of your cheeks. I'm beginning to think the best take away would be a compilation of dishes from various restaurants. my choice: Curry Cabin... 'Meat Samosa' Swadesh... 'Treat for Two' starter Ghandi... 'Captain Patilla' (sic) Jaflong... 'Naga Chicken' Two Sisters... 'Tarka Dall' Anyone else care to offer their perfect take-away menus? On consideraton this might be a good thread so i will copy/paste above and start a 'create your perfect take away menu' thread
  7. Oh dear - after reading the recommendations above we also ordered from 2 sisters. The Dall was fantastic and.. well the rest was okay but no more. The Naga was a big disappointment - just a hot basic curry and nothing like the wonderfully hot and subtle naga from Jaflong (or even the slightly less sensational but good naga from Swadesh). The lamb (Kodu Wala) was tough - i mean really tough - in a bland oily sauce and the shallot rice was too greasy. other items were okay but forgettable. I will be back ordering from the jaflong next week.
  8. If it's a Celtic thing you could always pop into the Irish shop for some 'like' company - my OH (Corkonian) is often affected by the kind of homesickness that leads to her longing for their Nash's Red Lemonade and a bag of Taytos.

  11. Excuse a Sassenach from butting in (ah twas ever thus) but, in light of the above, have started thread re independence and would really like to hear what Scots (ex pats though they may be) think. Salt and Sauce?
  12. In light of SNP majority and promised referendum (within next 4 years) by Salmond what do the panel think of possibility of Scottish Independence? Is it what Scots want? If the vote is 'for' independence what will be the response of UK parliament? Are there any Scots out there (or out here) who DON'T support it, and if so why not?
  13. Some night. Some bump.
  14. Was that when you were in Bromley?
  15. I have a 3 dongle and use it all the time as I have no land line. When it refuses to load I have sometimes had to unplug it and restart the laptop (a pain but it worked). When you unplug the dongle you will hear three alert sounds (depends on what your set up is but on my laptop they are a kind of 'gudunk' sound), wait for these before plugging back in then you will hear three more at slightly different pitch. Look at the light on the dongle and do not attempt to open if the light is green - wait for it to turn blue - as this will result in a failed loading/start up. The more you use it the more you will get used to having to stop mid-session and unplug then replug your dongle whenever the signal drops out. Another tip is to always use the wire rather than plug dongle into usb port direct - this helps reception.
  16. Come on let's be fair, Frasier was a spin-off and as such was blandly/wryly amusing at times and irritating at others - possibly the only people who could have loved it totally would have been Frasier and Niles. What do you want from a spin-off? Joey?!
  17. Aye... when I first posted on 'ere it were all fields!
  18. I am hiding out in the lounge as Jimmy-the-Snip has his cohorts on my tail:- James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It's referendum day. > Great vibe from people I've met out in East > Dulwich this morning while delivering Good Morning > leaflets. > > To thE maxxi's of this world[/b] voting NO to AV will > kill aniy electoral reform for a generation in the > way we select our MP's. That's what you get for indulging in debate - I am now an archetype (beams proudly) and will shortly be restyling myself, using the forum equivalency of deed poll, as: "Maxxi, King of the Maxxis of this world", and will be recruiting shortly if only to put up a fight when the liberals come with their version of extraordinary rendition (activists in yellow ties singing "We'll Be The Change"). edited to include information that of course it's a yes from me - only sorry some expected that decision to be made slavishly and without debate - but I guess that's party politics.

Singled out by the behemoth that is the Lib-Dem canvassing machine! I have already decided on a yes jimmy (see lounge post) but suspect the no vote will triumph if for no other reason than the shameful lack of effort on the part of the yes campaign to debate the issue - they'd rather present loveable actors and comedians for us to agree with and aspire to be like. I will be more interested in the local govt. elections throughout the country and only wish they were happening here too. Under any voting system i think your party are in for a bumpy night.
  20. Try The Larry Sanders Show instead.
  21. The tory arguments for fptp are to do with self preservation. The only arguments for fptp from labour are (to paraphrase Caroline Flint) to give Clegg a bloody nose. Not good enough. Opportunistic short-termism. Whilst I wish it went further and wish both sides had made more of an effort in this debate (as i suspect most people are thinking 'why bother?') I am voting YES as there is simply no alternative vote (see what i did there?) in a true democracy.
  22. what happened to post re motherT? and the Whistler post? Did he threaten to sue? Damn artists!
  23. it will be Deej, it will be... B) (with thanks to James McNeil Whistler)
  24. I am referring to mummy t of course
