Unfortunately - given past form and the fact that he's been moaning about not having a winter break again - I suspect BFS will avoid fielding our best XI. Unless Sulligold lean on him again :)

Have to agree - the problem was always that BFS had ONE idea, one plan and one route to goal and no plan B. Ironically (given his talent) the only proper route-one goal was Sakho's. Just hope we can hang onto him. Worry for me is the Nolan/Carroll brand may take over when we lose Sakho, Song and Kouyate in Jan for the Africa Nations Cup. Great crosses from Jenkinson btw - Wenger must be glad he kept Chambers.

Think Franco Manca is a good thing but loved the Draft House too (one of the few who did), not a huge fan of Sushi so indifferent to that, I like pasta but prefer to cook it myself so probably won't trouble Burro e Salvia too much, love Hop Burns & Black - great beers and chilli products and can see that becoming a regular haunt, like Boulangerie Jade (Barry Rd), never been in the Duck Egg, er.. what else?... Evans Cycles looks good, Like Flying Pig but if they don't have more beers under ?4 a pint (one last week and it ran out) they could lose custom as it's available elsewhere, and didn't used to like Great Exhibition but do now. All subjective.

I remember lots of puff pastry mince pies around in the 70s - the age of the vol-au-vent - along with those weird things full of lemon curd - delicious.

Not really - being this high up the table before a long slide into the New Year is a nailed-on WH tradition - though am suffering severely aching sides pissing myself at Arsenal's "defence". Au contraire, the man's obviously a genius and a PR gift - those struggling teams more used to the heights we now enjoy (Arse, Spurs, Liverpool, Everton...) would be CRAZY not to try and pry him away from Upton Park with a mahoosive contract. We would be gutted of course but would just have to grin and bear it. B)

Any of the chains mentioned would be fine - liven up that part of the area a bit Always felt the Actress was a bit like those places anyway.

Their garlic pizzas/bread yummmmmmm The seafood salad was pretty good too - remember having to hang around for a table to open up downstairs - always full. That little stretch was good for food for a little while - there was the Bandong at the end (past the bar that later became Ruby Tuesdays) and what was the name of that Malaysian/Indonesian place with the bamboo or bullrushes in the window - just past the tropical fish shop? Great gado gado and tomato rice. ETA: Think it was called the Mutiara.

Saxophone player busking on Lordship Lane

I'm guessing for most people out shopping and/or passing by it's a harmless (and temporary) little distraction that might raise a smile but to anyone who lives within earshot it's a non-stop, permanent (for as long as he's there), droning, pain in the arse. Maybe do 30min then nick off and annoy someone else? -
I think I need an 'irony' button

well if we're taking it that far - Whitby. The one in the side street the 'right' side of the bridge. With gravy.

Semas is fine but Emily's is batter - my OH hates fish but loves his jockeys - go figure eh?

I've only been in Patch twice - once in January (wasn't keen on it as a pub) and once a couple of weeks ago. Went with a friend - Friday night - went there as the other pubs/bars on the lane were rammed. 2 pints of Doombar (?4/pt but the only cask ale available) which were flat, sour, stale and unedifying. The place was nearly empty (under a dozen in whole gaff including restaurant) and had the air of a sunken ship. Left (without finishing beers) to go to Great Exhibition - another pub I didn't like before - which was busy and vibrant and confounded my earlier feelings about the place - and had a fine night on Lanes bitter (?3/pt). To those who say location is all this is a bit of a poser, no? Swap the two around and the GE would STILL be busy and vibrant and buzzing - and the Patch would still be f*cked.

It's obvious some people have never been to a jumble sale - those little old ladies will spear your spleen and take your knees out for first crack at the bric-a-brac.

Thinking you were a bearded Zappa fan obvs! Par for the course AqM - I was thought female in some quarters early doors. It was the female lounge contingent (posters like KTNumbers, Laddymuck, RosieH, LadyD, DJKQ, Sue (ooh, shouldn't put them next to each other), Moos, and many others that encouraged me to post in the lounge first off (and there are still some whose gender I am unsure of)- if it had been all-male I may have avoided it.
