  1. Can't we have Waitrose adverts in SE22?
  2. I thinks it's pretty poor. Our Virgin broadband is always going down. For a while it was everyday between about 2 and 7pm. An engineer came and it's slightly better but still falls over. If I was at home using it for work i'd have cancelled long ago.
  3. Ideal location for a Waitrose.
  4. Only Me.. Michael Boult was in my class in the year below.
  5. Got any photos of the event? There is a beekeeper around who tends to some hives in the allotments on the corner of Friern and Underhill.
  6. Without being too old skool I remember it when it was called Boults. Mr Boult who ran it also played a bit part in the classic 1950 war film Wooden Horse. I defy anyone to have better ED trivia than that.
  7. Lahore Kebab House or New Tayab are both amazing.
  8. Apparently if you just have a good wee around your garden it should keep foxes away.
  9. We've had Wrens too. Nice to have around.
  10. Good positive post.
  11. I bet he's annoyed he's called himself Giggs. Forever associated with sad Welsh adulterer.
  12. Agreed. The biggest problem is parked cars or vans blocking the view up and down Barry Road.
  13. Bless them. They so want to live in Compton. I like the snow ball fight video.
  14. Up until recently I was very happy with our Virgin broadband service but it's becoming increasingly unstable. It's just gone off again at home.
  15. I think in the wider world insurance companies are taking a pasting (flood, earthquakes, oil rigs etc) so I guess they're passing their losses off down the line.
  16. Last night there were quite a few police in white forensic suits looking at something in one of the front gardens.
  17. I got annoyd a few days ago. I had a call from Virgin Media customer care. They cold-called me as a 'valued customer' and offered to save me money.. Then tried to sell me a load of rubbish I didn't want.
  18. Thanks everyone. Evander did come from the insurance co to shore up the temporary repair. London Door Company were amazing. They made the fastest custom door they've ever done. Measured it on Wednesday afternoon and fitted it on Saturday. The fitter was lovely and he and his mate worked for eight hours in the horrible conditions on Saturday. I'd recommend them to anyone, a really good company. We're all alarmed up now too so feeling a lot better.
  19. I think it's happened to me three times in three years. I now know that this isn't a problem with the equipment in the house, it's something the engineers have to fix somewhere. However, it's impossible to convince the help line that this is the problem. So they insist on booking an engineer. You wait three days fro the engineer, then they turn up an say 'This isn't a problem I can fix, it's a prblem with the server (or something). Then a couple of hours later it works again.
  20. I remember seeing Planet of the Apes and Tora, Tora, Tora there. Then I have some fondness for the strange 'Guru' temple period.
  21. Thanks everyone. We're getting London Door Co in Penge to do it. And they are fitting this week so we'll feel a lot better about it. I think we'll also get an ADT alarm system. As far as the camera system goes I have all the boxes and serial numbers and like you say I can prove from the metadata that I've been using that system for years. Hopefully the loss adjuster will be reasonable.
  22. I've got someone coming round this afternoon who doesn't sound like a charlatan.
  23. I'm afraid we were the victims of a burglary yesterday afternoon. All of my Nikon camera equipment has been stolen. We've had a temporary repair done to the front door but we will need a new one and I'm waiting to hear from my insurance loss adjuster. Has anybody used a local company to fit a temporary secure front door? I've just been quoted ?950 from the people who did the emergency repair last night who to be honest seem to be playing the 'don't worry the insurance will pay' card. Until I've spoken to the loss adjuster I don't know if I'll have to bear the cost of this myself and I might not be able to talk to them until tomorrow. Any advice? I'm a bit stressed.
  24. I saw a man of senior years deliberately drop all the cellophane and foil from his fag packet on his way to the French Cafe of Forest Hill Road last Friday. I picked it up, tapped him on the shoulder and suggested he used the bin next time. He looked really annoyed and he gave me some abuse which I didn't listen to. A small victory. He really should know better.
