  1. Thanks for the comments. I'll drop the council a line with his number plate. I'd be quite happy if he got a shirty letter from someone. The most stupid thing was his car was parked right next to a bin but he chose to throw his rubbish on the floor instead. My wife once saw a woman throw her Travelcard on the pavement. She said, sarcastically, 'I think you just dropped that by mistake'. To which the woman said 'It's ok, I don't need it anymore'.
  2. I just saw someone throw rubbish from their car into the street which makes me fume with rage. I challenged them on it and they drove off. I would have thrown it all back into his car window had I not had my young son with me. I have the guy's number plate and he was a registered mini cab so there's a good chance it's his car. Does anyone know who I can report him to?
  3. There seems to be a lot of work going on there. Does anyone know what it's going to be?
  4. Pretty sure I saw a Goldfinch this morning.
  5. We have a Thrush nest in our garden in Ryedale (backing onto old cemetary). The chicks are just leaving the nest but still can't fly very well. It's a bit of a nightmare trying to fend off the local cat population. I saw them both this morning and they can fly short distances so I hope we're almost there.
  6. My house is in Ryedale but was originally in Balchier. Maybe divide the road off at Cornflower and make it a no through road?
  7. What's wrong with The Uplands as a name? It doesn't really matter if it changes it's personality. Pubs do this all the time.
  8. Mine has been off all weekend and the tv box keeps rebooting. An engineer is coming out to have a look.
  9. I spent a year at the Epiphany Hall in my St John's years.
  10. I was really scared that it was something like a rock they were going to throw at me. There are plenty of instances of this happening from motorway bridges and people being killed. I take a different route now.
  11. It would be good if the take-aways would reduce the amount of packaging. There's no need for a polystyrene box with your kebab / chips.
  12. No trees at all on Ryedale. Between Cornflower Terrace and Underhill Road. We need some (not sure if this is your bag).
  13. Just a quick heads up. I was cycling along the cycle path that runs alongside the abandoned Heygate Estate (Old Kent Rd / Rodney Place) at about 7pm last night. I saw a group of youths appear on the overhead walkway and throw some objects at me. I was suddenly terrified as I thought they were rocks. They turned out to be eggs and one hit me on the head (luckily I was wearing a helmet). The whole Walworth area is a bit of a dodgy area for cyclists (some idiots tried to push me off my bike last year). I think it's best to stick to the main roads after dark. I'm probably going to stop using the Surrey Canal path after dark too.
  14. I remember going to that club with my dad. It was great.. you'd always get some old girl up on stage at Sunday lunchtime belting out an old time classic.
  15. He should offer free trips for forum members.
  16. I second DaveR. That's the way. I love an Ikea fry up.
  17. I remember the bike shop. I recall the windows being very brown and peering in at Peugeot racers.. The real racing bike aficionado would drool over Ron Cooper's beautiful hand built bikes in Honor Oak.
  18. My personal favourite was Marriott's for all a boy's Airfix, Dinky and Subbuteo needs. There was also a toy shop at the Plough parade which sold Dinky and Corgi (all I cared about in those days).
  19. I'm in Ryedale so quite near. I've not had any problems.
  20. We slept in the same bed together from the day we brought my son back from the hospital.. We tried him in a moses basket and cot in our room but he wasn't having it. He slept in with us until he was about 18 months. It worked really well for all of us.. I don't remember many sleepless nights.
  21. I think it's time my little boy has his first proper haircut. Can anybody recommend someone good with toddlers..He doesn't like being messed about with (just washing his hair is quite a mission).
  22. The wild meadow area on Peckham Rye looking particularly delightful at the moment.
  23. I must say it looks fantastic.
  24. Where are nearest double red lines? Lying scammer.
  25. Depends if you think about other people or just don't give a shit about your neighbours.
