  1. I am not quite sure I believe this. Living on Crawthew "between the eastern kerb line of Spurling.....etc", as I read it that means that whole section of road will be closed, possibly for 18 months from MONDAY and we are finding out now and only via an online forum that I happened to read today. No consultation, no letter through the door. I presume we will not be able to park there from Monday? How do the bin men, delivery drivers etc get through. The works on that site have already been going for a year (they said initially it would be finished by now) and caused huge disruption already. This has got to be unprecedented. How on earth did they get this through? Staggering. I will send a complaint today as well.
  2. Willesden Junction which is either on the Bakerloo line (from Elephant & Castle) or London Overground (from Clapham Junction). As it is a Sunday, best check TFL as they could be closed. One tip when you get there - avoid the walk down the very rough looking footpath...stick to the road. There are signs to follow when you are there.
  3. I wouldn't put it on the radar of your insurer till you know a bit more about the issue - once they get wind of things the renewal premiums have a habit of shooting up, even if you don't make a claim.
  4. Crawthew Grove being 'closed' as WorldWiser has captured in that picture is a very regular occurrence and if not closed it is often blocked by the steady stream of large trucks delivering stuff to the site. For weeks in early summer nothing was going on at the site - yet the various parking spaces were still blocked out by their bollards and mobile toilet facility. I've been eagerly awaiting their update in the promised monthly newsletter (they wrote to all of us in December saying to expect one) - but alas my copy seems to have gone astray....each month. Anyway the 9 months of disruption has not all been in vain - they have dug a very, very deep hole. Although as you point out most of the displaced soil is on the pavement.
  5. Classic thread, great game. 72% on the 2nd go. The 1st was a blow out. Great value to be had in Uttoxeter.
  6. It was all happening that's for sure. Well done for calling the police - they seemed to arrive pretty quickly thankfully.
  7. There aren't any trains to Vic today (maybe your point). 11 mins to Blackfriars, then the tube.
  8. There was a 'regular' ambulance there as well - it arrived about 5 mins before the helicopter.
  9. When there is a wait for a table at the curry house next door you get shipped in there while you wait. Seemed ok to me.
  10. It looked very serious - a man had been knocked off a motorbike and was in the road. The air ambulance landed in the park close to Sainsbury's. Hopefully he's ok as the medics arrived very quickly it seemed.
  11. We have had all sorts of trouble with our Virgin TV service over the last few months but like many others lost Wi-Fi too for the first time till this morning (or late last night). TV still not up though. Does anyone else have the Wi-Fi back up but not the TV? Or might it just be us (again).
  12. Perhaps all of Crawthew is being set aside for temporary toilets and tea making facilities for the army of builders working on that site in the corner. Anyway, not long to go now, they are due to finish in November.
  13. The builders have pretty much taken over our end of Crawthew Grove with their kit, skips and a little hut for them to make their tea and go to the loo. We did get a note through the door telling us there would be disruption, but I am surprised how much space that they have been allowed. Assuming they have been through official channels that is.
  14. Dulwich was one of only 5 places in London in the "100 Best Places To Live in the UK" in the Sunday Times this weekend. Other places listed were Richmond, Chiswick, Balham (dubious choice) and Muswell Hill. It's offical, it is great, if not "cool".
  15. EDT - the room to the left as you walk in is usually a good spot to watch rugby. They will probably have it on in the dining room area to the right as well although I think the atmosphere is better in the more pubby bit. Suspect they will show it in The Actress as well - watched football in there but not rugby.
  16. We used the guy from the link below for our wedding. He does a lot of family stuff I believe and lives round the corner to ED so would travel to you. He was good, not that cheap, but he certainly wasn't the highest quote we had. http://www.ripleyphotography.co.uk/
  17. Good work, great pic, well done for sneaking the camera out on the plane. I flew into City the other day and couldn't pick out ED....think I was on the wrong side of the plane. See there is some benefit to being on the flight path to all those who moan on here about having knowingly bought property under a flight path.
  18. Yes, shame they had to call it off.....was geared up for my Hamlet debut as we had a rare free Saturday. Missed the announcement so went along only to be disappointed. De-camped to the Cherry Tree (incredibly cold toilets btw) instead so all not lost.
  19. The Southern Website allows you to do a personalised timetable. Check the link below, but I have attached the one I did for train times leaving ED in the morning, coming back in the evening (weekdays only) http://www.southernrailway.com/your-journey/timetables/create-your-own-timetable/ Hope that helps. S
  20. A nice neighbourhood Italian restaurant like a Si Mangia in Forest Hill - easy pizza / pasta kind of place. That would make a killing I reckon especially as the number of families with young kids keeps on growing. Locale up the road doesn't stack up for me.
