Let's put it under edf inane ***e*ol*s category. Pathetic thread.

Wish could help with ideas for places to go but I live in Crystal Palace so sadly can't - good luck in finding places to go though. If you do venture CP'wards ever the downstairs bar at Numidie seems a good place to meet people. (nb - ignore the usual smartarse comments you get on edf, at least you had the cojones to put your head over the parapet!)

Sweet Basil and Horseradish vinegars sound astonishingly good - do you buy them locally? (actually thinking of that, I could try and make my own!). Actually although Viva Goa has gone the place is still run by the same guys. It's now called Crystal Palace Tandoori. This thread reminded me of the great Vindaloo they used to do so I will ask for it next time. The place is worth a try if you ever pass, especially as they use free range meat and fresh spices.

I used to have traditional Goan Vindaloos at the now sadly gone Viva Goa in Crystal Palace a few years ago - medium hot, sweet and sour'ish made with palm vinegar and a splash of red wine. Absolutely delicious, and quite unlike the ubiquitous British high street curry house uber hot (and largely inedible) version.

It's more of an oily > accompaniement than a sauce really. It has an unusual taste I agree - hefty level of chilli but tempered with a kind of smokey, fishy flavour. We've used it as an accompaniment, in spicy dishes and also spread (thinly!) on crackers. Scrumptious. I am not into uber hot 'insanity sauce ' type condiments but Shito manages to combine heat with taste.

I live in Crystal Palace and wasn't going to bother but at the last minute I changed my mind and sauntered down to have a look - glad I did, was more fun than I expected and crowds of people had turned out. I had a lump in my throat (to my surprise) as the torch bearer jogged by but the best bit for me though was the Pavarotti shaped traffic cop on his motorbike who sailed past in advance of the torch bearer deploying a comical sounding horn, a huge grin and a wave at the crowds - he went down a storm. Didn't spot 'Nette though...

BTEC? That was around 20 odd years ago!

For gaaaaaaaaaaaawd's sake you lot, her post wasn't 'snippy', you just choose to take it that way. Cut the OP some slack will you? She just wants to meet some gay friends in her area. If you haven't anything helpful to add then just move along? Hopefully the advice already given will assist.

Christ..... how old are you two (Udt/compshort)? Seriously.

Not sure about ED but there is a relatively large gay contingent a couple of miles away in Crystal Palace - has been for quite some years now.

Not a phone as such (although you can make calls on it, preferably by bluetooth otherwise you look a bit of a twonk with it held up to your ear) by I have a Galaxy Tab and it is fabulous - ultra reliable, great apps and takes great photos. -
Monday night in Big Band night at the Grape and Grain in Crystal Palace at 8 pm - 'a seventeen piece Swing band bringing the best of big band music to Crystal Palace'. I think the band sometimes have people joining in to sing. It's a great real ale pub anyway and worth a visit - 12 ales on tap permanently and two others on gravity plus a good range of wines. http://thegrapeandgrainse19.co.uk/events/

Do some in SE22 look down their noses at those who live in SE15? If they do then they will get the mean little life they deserve. Hopefully that is not the case though, I like to think that people are more intelligent than that.

This is edf - you're not going to get any useful direction. I would ring up your local vet and ask for their advice.

That's a very interesting question. I was brought up in a vaguely C of E way, church on Sundays occasionally but my parents weren't particularly religious. That all changed when I was around 14 and my Mum had a major "born again' moment and became a true BELIEVER almost overnight. She joined a Baptist church and the whole family followed her hook, line and sinker- apart from me that is. Difficult few years initially as my teenage activities didnt necessarily fit in with the 'faith'. Eventually they realised I was going to plow my own atheist furrow and stopped disapproving. Many years later my family are still all God'ed up but we get on famously. Live and let live works all round. So for me, 14 was the age I made my choice.

My three (kitties) bravely helped me fight off a rat infestation some years ago, which has kept me forever in their debt. They don't go out much , although they are free to do so, and haven't killed any mice/birds for some years now - too well fed and lazy guess. There is a stray ginge that partly lives in our communal garden - it has done us a huge favour by killing (and eating) a couple of the pigeons that have been nesting in my attic space and causing shed loads of mess over the windows/paths etc, with the result that the other pigeons have moved on elsewhere. It has been semi-adopted by a neighbour but prefers to live outside.
