I don't live in East Dullwich (moved out years ago to somewhere more to my liking), but I do have a peek at this forum from time to time to admire the games of oneupmanship and to see what's going on in the wider area. Get over it :)
  3. A couple of long sleeved, fine knit linen wrap cardies I bought from East quite some years ago. Have darned them a few times in an effort to keep them going but I know it is only a matter of time. Will be gutted when they give up the ghost eventually as I can't find anything like them anywhere now :(
  4. Nowt wrong with getting pissed on decent sherry, - had a blast getting tipsy on casked sherries in little bars in Cadiz last year. Harveys Bristol Cream on the other hand.....

  6. God almighty..... you lot are about as welcoming as the Witchfinder General :-S
  7. I started to develop an over-reaction to mosy bites a couple of years ago. Not as bad as you Nette but enough to keep me awake at nights for a week or so plus very inflamed around the bite. Thanks for the tip re Avon Dry Oil. My current anti mosy bite arsenal includes mosquito net pinned over bedroom window so I can keep it open at night, antihistamine tablets in my handbag at all times so that I can take one immediately when bitten, an ammonia stick and/or one of those electric cell thingies used around the bite to lessen the infernal itching and hydrocortisone cream if it gets very inflamed.

We Palacestinians are all planning our viewing spots (mine will be from a handily placed local pub). No need to travel to CP though as the display is due to be seen over a 25 mile radius apparently - due to kick off 21.15ish.

  11. Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Most of them are fairly poor, serving the same > bog-standard, generic dishes. I couldn't agree more - I have consistently been disappointed with china town restaurants over 30 years or so. Against my better judgement we were persuaded to go to one recently - can't recall its name but it was painted jade green'ish and was allegedly one of the better restaurants that has been there donkey's years. The service was below mediocre, the prices unwarranted and the food was dreadful - unimaginative, very poor cuts of meat, rubbery and tasteless over all. I have decided to avoid china town restaurants from now on - am fed up with being disappointed :( A shame, as I love good quality, well cooked Chinese grub.

  16. Dear God. Admin. Close down this car-crash of a thread.
  17. Ah.... the scourge of the 'I googled about this doc and I know what I am talking about!' Sigh....
  18. I like it!
  19. Ah - must be the jewish american stuff I hear on tv. Apologies. I am a great fan of the text - saves having to talk to people!

  21. Wow, How unpleasant are you? :-S Edited to add, I wouldn't pay ?100 (a more than reasonable offer) for a 6 year old second hand suite, let alone ?275. Sheesh!
  22. Donkeys years ago (1982 to be exact) I lived in ED for a year in Darrell Road (and boy was ED different then...). There was a weird little shop front just as you turned into Upland Rd from Darrell Rd, with some kind of a voodoo doll thingy in front of the dustily curtained front window. I never saw the shop open but imagined some weird black magicky stuff went on in there http://freeemoticonsandsmileys.com/animated%20emoticons/Evil%20Animated%20Emoticons/evil%20bat.gif

  24. My advice - stay put until you find another job. The job market is worse than abysmal at the moment and it is very inadvisable to jump ship. I have had a couple of jobs that I have grown to dislike in the past, I planned an escape route and worked towards it - I suggest you do the same. What is it about the job that you detest? The work? The routine? The people? Getting up early? Long Hours? One person? Perhaps you could chat to your line manager to add some variety to your work for the time being until you find something else? Is there an opportunity for flexi-time? I would try not to jump down an 'off sick with stress' route. If you are feeling low maybe discuss with your GP - they may have some ideas. In addition to that, try and make the rest of your life as stress free and enjoyable as possible - family and friends can be wonderfully supportive. Maybe try and go for a brisk walk in your work break too, weather permitting - exercise can lift a low mood. Good luck.
