  1. What exactly IS quinoa?
  2. That's not showing much solidarity with your working class brothers Lou.

I like this. The word feminist bugs me BECAUSE there are so many splinter cells, it doesn't define anything anymore.

So animal would probably live indoors unless the cage/hutch went outside in the warmer months.
  5. I know, but we don't drive which makes it harder to do camping with kids.
  6. I am always sceptical of budget holidays because they tend to give away the accommodation but then bend you over and Roger every penny they can out of you once you're there. Went to a Haven a couple of years back and spent a fortune. Are others like Butlins any better or is there really no such thing as a budget holiday. Would love a few days away for the kids this year, but money is tight.
  7. Yeah I think my wife would like two of whatever. Thanks
  8. The world has really turned on him, he was the darling of comedy not long ago. I've never been a huge fan, but he's made me laugh sometimes.
  9. We're considering getting a pet, our girls (especially our older girl who has ASD) would love it. Dog is out of the question due to space and our availability to care for it. Cats are evil so they're out. Basically we're looking at rodents, hamsters, rats, guinea pig... Any pros / cons to any of these. Personally I'd like to go for the longest life span because I don't want to deal with death, but that's just me being selfish really.
  10. Another shout to Mrs Brown's Boys. My parents think it's hilarious, which I initially took as reason enough for me not to like it. But then friends my age have raved about it. It's shit!
  11. ^^^^^ What HMB said.

Think I did the hoovering before the pub opened. And I was probably pushing 30 by then. It wasn't a daily thing. But happened on occasion. I remember feeling a deep shame and self loathing when you walked in looking all awake and wanting to fill up your water flask or something.
  13. Nope, I'm pretty sure there are a few of us. I did like the film of Much ado about nothing though, and Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet (although that probably had more to do with Claire Danes to the 18 year old me).

I don't mind a bit of Shezza, but ironic that that was her biggest hit. It's like Slash hating the intro to Sweet Child, which he will undoubtedly be best remembered for.
  15. Yeah I'm not sure I want to. I miss it in theory, but think I'm probably blanking out the fact that I was miserable 80% of the time (when not off my tits).
  16. Latest on Polanski http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-30810028
  17. Actually SJ, seeing you here has reminded me of a decadent night. So, being sat at a bar completely wired, having not been to sleep when the pub opens on a Saturday. God I miss my 20s.

  19. After seeing sushi in that list I was going to say seafood. But that wouldn't really be fair, because it's just something I don't like, not don't get. But then that led me to think of fads in food that I don't get, and hog roasts and pulled pork sprang to mind. I'll happily eat both, and have nothing against them, but I have no idea why they both became so popular, as neither are anything particularly special. Pulled pork does get extra points for having an excellent "Carry On-esque" name though.

Yeah, but sis the Wurzels sing that one? ;-)
  21. Fair shout. I do wonder whether we all look back on it through rose tinted nostalgia goggles. I had some lovely times in there, but usually during the day when myself and a couple of friends would all be on sickies. Would sometimes go there for a last drink after the pub, but quite often there were some people in there that I really didn't like, and it was too busy to move. But as you say, it WAS a bit different, and I think that's what people were desperately keen for back then.

  23. Help-Ma-Boab Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Danish Detective programmes (SkandiNoir?) Yep, agree with this. And the Bake Off, how the hell is that so huge?!?! But this is getting too general, of course people are saying Big Brother and x factor. What I'm interested in are those things that your mates / like minded people are all raving about (either now or in the past), which you may even have pretended to enjoy, whilst actually thinking "this is really shit". DISCLAIMER: I have seen Withnail & I quite a few times, and don't think it's shite, just not as hilarious as everyone else in the room seemed to find it EVERY time.
  24. Smoking a joint and drinking first thing in the morning. Haven't done that for years, but it always led to an interesting day.
