  1. Edit to add that since posting this, the conviction was overturned, and Evans was found not guilty at retrial. So he is not guilty (not the same as innocent) of rape. This story is quite a unique one, had a bit of a conversation on FB, and I wonder what people on the EDF make of it? My take on it is this. He raped that young woman, no question. But I think in his head a rape is where a girl is dragged down an ally and raped violently. I suspect the idea of that would repulse him and that is why he just can't accept that he has raped someone, because in his mind what he did was not a rape. Those close to him are not really doing him any favours by continuing to support his claims of innocense and would do him a bigger service by convincing him to face up to his crime. Should he be allowed to return to football? There is no law to say he shouldn't, but there are several good reasons that he shouldn't. It's okay to say "an electrician would be able to return to work and earn a living". Replace "electrician" with "teacher / doctor / social worker" and that argument crumbles. The aspect of this story that has me feeling a bit uncomfortable is the public petitioning that is going on (and having an effect). It should not be for the public to decide this man's fate, and all the hype is actually discolouring the water a bit too. Discuss

  3. A while back it felt as though the whole forum (Lounge and General) had been taken over by the Cyclist clique and the We hate cyclists clique.

Totally agree with this, it's always irked. So what if it's been done before, just don't join in this time if you're bored of it.
  5. This is tiresome. I was trying to be semi supportive of you in this thread. YOU (no one else) raised the subject of people thinking you were other people in this thread. Otherwise it never would have come up. I responded by trying to be reasonable with you and telling you that your style is similar to a couple of other users. I said I couldn't care either way (I honestly couldn't). But you can't help yourself, you have to start with the "what are you on about", and then predictably you start with the "other people don't like the EDF" (like that is news to me, or that I could give a shit). I've had no issue with you, you're making one and at the same time, keeping the very thing you want to stop, right at centre stage in the spotlight. Bravo.

I was trying to explain something. I then said I couldn't really care less. You raised it on this thread and all your desperate denials basically just make it look more likely.

Cheers Atticus, I know we've not always agreed on everything so genuinely grateful to read that.
  9. But only because he's in my clique.

That is a > recurring theme of a small group of people, who > never apologise when shown to be wrong it seems. Or you've never actually shown anyone to be wrong. To be fair you'd need to be in the same room with a couple of other people at the same time in order to prove it for sure, and that's never gonna happen so we all just have to take your word for it, or not. For my part I don't really care, but the fact remains that whether by coincidence or not, your posts are similar in style to a previous poster or two. I'm not accusing you of anything, I am just explaining why people jumped to that copnclusion, and saying that I did wonder myself. But I won't lose sleep either way. I do remain convinced that DJKQ and Pokertime are the same person though, whether you are them or not. 12. And whilst I am aware thatmany would put me in a clique with the likes of EP and SJ, with some justification, I would also point out that there are few people who I've disagreed with on Here more than SJ (as well as agreeing with him a lot too). We javanese intentionally ganged up on any poor new user, and we have NEVER taken each other's side if we don't genuinely agree on er something just for the sake of solidarity.
  13. Ideactivated my original account with the intention of disappearing. But I couldn't stay away. The intention was never to pretend I was someone different. And Although don't like everything in ED I am from there and my parents and sibling still live there so I reserve the right to be interested. Plus Facebook doesn't lend itself very well to discussions with multiple people.
  14. So hang on, as I understood it Harris bought the police station. Is that not correct? Who actually owns that land now? The whole system seems arse over tit.
  15. Oh,and Nick Clegg will no longer be an MP come June.
  16. Despite lots of talk about everyone turning tothe greens, when it comes down to it in May it will be all blue/red as usual, and blues will win based on the economy (not because they're particularly good on that front but because no one will want Ed Balls anywhere near it).
  17. Referring to me I suspect. So I am the clique. Cool.
  18. I knew about the potential second school (boo), but the whole planning around the police station site makes no sense to me.
  19. He's got the wrong stone. He thought Keith Richards lived in Penge, but it was Bill Wyman. Schoolboy error.
  20. I went to that primary school, it was tiny and had to use a separate site for a couple of year groups and dining hall. I am confused about the Police Station, are you saying that Harris are only now applying for planning for the school which they have already started (on another site)? Surely these things should be agreed in advance?!?!?
  21. I got my girls the Disney Frozen Palace which plays a chorus of Let it go. Except by boxing day it wasn't working properly and will only play the short "try me" demo version. Believe me, this is even more annoying. Especially when the figures that came with it are all in hiding around the flat so you can't take it back.

    Christmas Thread

Yeah I woke at 7:30 this morning and the very first thought that went through my head was " oh my god I have work tomorrow and I'm exhausted".

  24. I once got lost in the IKEA at Wembley. I was with a blind bloke and we were like Father Ted in a lingerie section.
