  1. I liked it too. I think it waqs only really in it's last couple of years that it became home to a particular crowd who had pretty much been barred from everywhere else, and then it was a place I avoided (having had the odd run in whilst growing up). But have some good memories of playing pool in there with my sister.

Millhaven, but out of the way for you if you're Cherry Tree end, but The Castle show football with sound. I can't bloody stand it when there is no volume on the telly.
  3. If only people would stop voting red to avoid blue, and vice versa and actually just take the plunge and vote for the party they actually think are best, we might finally move away from these muppets.

Just asked her and the lady's name was Deana Webb (not sure about spelling). Think she was on her own by then, but her husbands name was George Webb. Do you remember them?
  5. Are you incapable of embracing the future whilst also having fond memories? The two are not mutually exclusive.

    Ha, well said.
  7. Maybe not, but for those of us around at that time it's the nostalgia of seeing little things like the woodyard or the CPT in it's old skool style.

Mate it takes long enough to get served when you're the only one at the bar!
  9. Not about being a Scrooge, as ???? said right near the top of this, they are not "allowed" to take tips. Some will of course, but they shouldn't. Then again, should teachers accept presents from all of their class?

Wetherspoons would be great. Couple of cheap pints before the football at Dulwich Hamlet (yes I know they have some good beer at the bar, but the time to get served makes me lose the will to live).

    How so?
  12. BBC reporter saying that Phil Hughes' funeral opened with"80s classic" Forever Young. It was the cover of Forever Young by Aussie band Youth Group.

I've got nothing against walkabout, it's not like it would be anything like the ones in town. Still can't see it though.
  14. Maybe a tribute to Bobby Keyes who has died today.
  15. This thread is getting silly. You all seem to think that James has a lot more sway than he probably does have.
  16. And I don't think that link about a tragic accident is helpful. Last week a pro cricket player wearing all the correct gear, was killed playing cricket. Weird freak accidents will always happen on occasion. All we can do is hope they don't happen to us. The other option is to wrap ourselves in cotton wool and never go out. Having said all that,I think if my daughter ended up with a blue bump on her head I'd want to be called and I'd want an explanation.
  17. We (as a society) also over protect them in my opinion, and we're also far too quick to look to legal action as the answer to everything. Again, in my opinion. D_C's legal action comment was in response to my "dammed if they do, dammed if they don't" comment, and that (threats of legal action) is EXACTLY why schools find themselves in that position. And to be clear, I'm not talking about the OP, just a wider point.

Hope I'm wrong, but doubt it.
  19. DEFINITELY later than 92 for me, I know I was in sixth form. He probably played there a few times. They all used to do their Edinburgh prep shows there. Also saw Graham Norton and THINK I saw Sean Lock but could be wrong.
  20. PM me about the billet! Only been in 3 times, but each time it's been very friendly so I've had no reason to doubt it even if it does look like a dive. The worst place is next to the car park at Penge East Station. That really IS a shit hole.

I agree, but this specific issue really is a case of damned if they do, damned if they don't.
  22. Haha, I'm with D_C on this one too. If I had to come and collect my child, I would expect to hear what had happened, but for the most part I wouldn't be too woried.
  23. I got it too. Haven't bothered yet.
  24. I'd gone up to Liverpool by September 96 so either it was first half of 96 or I saw an earlier appearance. Know it was when I was Sixth Form and shouldn't strictly have been in the pub (turned 18 July 96).
  25. I was there for Izzard, probably 95?
