Exactly right, which is how my dad knew him. He was always really good to me, and he always had some filthy jokes to share. He moved with his new wife to Norfolk (I think) around the turn of the century, and unfortunately died a couple of years ago (or maybe more). Very young to go, but he used to drink gallons of vodka, and I think he'd had 3 heart attacks before 30. Really lovely bloke.

Trying to buy a house in this area is near impossible

LondonMix Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > How's the flat search going Otta? If all goes well, we'll be moving mid Feb... Paying ?5k less than he had it on the market for, but ?10k more than similar properties on the same estate. But just want to get it done. Buying a flat in a block on an estate was never really the dream home I'd imagined, but that's where we are, and what we can manage, so that's what we're doing. At least I'll inherit half a house in ED one day... :-S -

Which is exactly why it would be a good idea for both parties to put some money in the pot. But I have to say, that even if an issue is "minor", if it's going to cost the buyer money after they've basically put everything they've got in to buying the property, why shouldn't they chip a bit off the price? -
I see you've started this thread in the family section, and that Lorraine has responded to you. Take her advise would be my advise.

Why are we talking about schools (seriously, can't be bothered reading all 3 pages of this)? Surely that site is way too small for a decent school.

As a buyer, I'd happily put a couple of thousand in a bond, if the seller did the same. As far as I can see, it is very much a seller's market, and they can just as easily walk away from it BEFORE contracts are complete, but AFTER the buyer has spent well over ?1k on a survey and various fees. I think it would be a very sensible thing for both parties to put some money in a pot, and forfeit it if they walk away from the deal. But for just one side to be asked to do this is not fair at all IMO. -
Yeah, but there's good touch sensitivity and crap touch sensitivity.

I think the most important things are weighted keys, and touch sensitivity. Those are the two things that will best help the kids learn. Sound quality is obviously desirable, but perhaps that will be more important down the line if they persist with it.

I do think that there are unexplained things and I don't dismiss "paranormal activity" out of hand. That is not to say I believe in ghosts, as in the spirits of dead people. But I believe we still know too little about the universe to dismiss unusual happenings as delusion. I don't believe in ghostly messages in mirrors though. And SJ said "good luck to" the Edinbrugh department that is researching all this, he just said (rightly) that he wasn't expecting them to come back with much anytime soon. Comparing that to medical research just doesn't make any sense. There is no cure for HIV/AIDS, but I'd much rather have it now than in the 80s, because of research. Obviously I'd rather not have it at all given the choice.

Maxxi isn't alone though is he RD? Quids is equally desperate for BFS to go, and they actually support the club and will naturally have strong feelings about it.

There are schools kike spa school in Southwark which are asd specific. There is a charity called Beyond Autism which has a couple of very small schools, but you'd have a fight on your hands convincing a local authority to fund it. Lots of boroughs are giving out fewer and fewer statements, so it would help a lot if your daughter already had one which would be adopted.

Walcott out for 6 months. Bad for Arsenal, plus he'll ,iss the world cup.

Where was The Windmill Quids? My brain has gone today, I can barely remember any of these.
-
Yes that was The Heaton Arms. Which reminds me, what was The Nags Head before it was the Nags Head (which I think happened late 90s). Was trying to remember the other day. An old mate of my dad's who is no longer with us used to drink in there and I remember going to meet him in there occasionally in my late teens.

I know loads of pubs don't make it, but most are taken over by another pub rather than closed down completely.

Doh, of course, I was getting Oglander and Ivanhoe mixed up. Must admit I can't even remember noticing the Oglander, can't picture it at all.
-
Forgot The Heber, but that was closed 20 odd years ago. Isn't The Oglander and Hoo[ers one and the same place?

Agree. But have any pubs in the area actually ever shut down and turned to flats?
