  1. Well yes, that's a plus point. But all the housing estates around Salter Road just leave me cold. Nothing wrong with them, but as I say, just feels sterile.
  2. What peer reviewed evidence? All I see on that site is stuff like this "Many people report that they know in advance who is on the phone when the telephone is ringing. Sheldrake and Smart [1, 2] conducted experiments where participants had to determine which one of four possible callers is on the phone while the telephone was still ringing. They report highly significant hit rates that cannot be explained by conventional theories." Sorry, but if you ask me to choose one of four possible callers, I have a 25% chance of getting it right. I also know who the 4 possible callers are. If that is the sort of scientific experiment/research which is supposed to prove the existence of telepathy, then I am unimpressed.

Don't usually post these pics, but this one did make me smile.
  4. That whole area of SQ and a lot of Bermondsey just feel sterile to me. The shopping "mall" is shit, although the Tescos is pretty good. Best things around there is the farm. Best city farm I've been to.
  5. I line manage 30 people who are on zero hour contracts. I have been looking in to getting them a better deal, but about 4 of them have actually said to me they like things as they are, because although they don't get sickness/holiday pay (actually their hourly rate does incorporate a holiday premium, so it's not actually correct to say they don't get paid holiday), they like that they can basically choose when they want to go away, and tell me they're not available for work.

Former West Ham defender Julian Dicks on BBC Radio 5 live: "Man City are a great side but the least you expect from your players as a supporter is to work hard and give 100%. "It costs supporters a fortune to go to Manchester City and it was a case of players not giving a flying monkeys how they performed. The work rate over the last half a dozen games has been disgraceful "We all have bad games and make mistakes but what you expect every single game is to give 100%. To watch some of them play is embarrassing. "I cannot see a way how Sam Allardyce can continue, they got beat 5-0 by Forest and 6-0 at City and I can understand how the fans feel. The football is not good."

Good thing he rested those players at the weekend. Masterstroke by the master tactician.

Will it even have a score yet?
  9. Chislehurst caves is meant to be haunted. I don't believe it but I'd be reluctant to spend a night in there on my own.

  12. You always think you're right. Zero hour contracts are nothing new, they may not have gotten rid, but you can't blame them for their existence.
  13. I honestly believed that closing down Keef would give me a clean break and that I'd not return. Lasted about 48 hours.

All the fit birds support the pool. What a woman!
  16. Yep Anna and Rosie both still local, but fed up with EDF I think. As most of us have been at one time or another.
  17. AnnaJ and Bignumber5. RosieH is a rare poster these days and she hasn't even moved away. For Moos there is a big time difference which I guess doesn't help. I feel pretty safw betting that SJ and EP will remain pretty regular posters. They're in too deep to walk away!

Boring. Anyway, recently retired Thomas Hitzlsperger has announced he's gay. It says a lot though that he's waited until he's retired. I wonder when an active player will come out. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25628806
  19. A lot of users barely look at the main ED section, and just post in The Lounge, so really living in ED has very little to do with it. I've never lived in ED since this forum started, although only up the road.

Absolutely. I used the term universe to basically mean we don't know a lot of stuff, and if/when we do, it may well explain a lot of things that people have been calling paranormal.

If they're "explicable", then they aren't > "unexplained", are they? Duh! That was just a response to that by the way.
  23. Sue, if something is unexplained, it doesn't mean it can't be explained.
