I just dislike his holier than thou attitude. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather my kids eat good stuff than chicken nuggets if they have school lunch, but... Well this says it better than I can http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/aug/27/jamie-oliver-poverty-ready-meals-tv

But take your point about myths like road tax. But it's from a comedy cartoon.

Stereotypes exist because there are enough people in any given group that act a certain way that stereotypes are born. At the end of the day LD, for every stupid careless dangerous driver out there, there is a stupid careless dangerous cyclist. All you do with the militant bollocks is make normal sensible people turn against your cause because you iver egg the pudding. So tired of the victim mentality I keep seeing in here from SOME cyclists. No one is getting in their car and thinking "right, 10 points for a cyclist, lets go and take some down".

Haha. And yeah I think it was monkey dust.

Why is this thread going on and on. Cycling on the pavement is against the law. Cyclists should not be on the pavement, there is no discussion to be had.
-
So as I asked originally, what do you think should be the punishment for this woman? And should that be a standard punishment for all drivers that kill someone, or should they look at the details of individual cases and judge accordingly? I actually have nothing against cyclists, and I'm not a motorist, I just basically laugh at the way sone cyclists talk.

Well said Jah. They will undoubtedly be back, but a year or two in the Europa League would be just the ticket for some of their more annoying fans. (and I certainly don't put the likes of RD in that bracket). I hate when Liverpool play on a Sunday at the moment because it's all so tight it feels like they have a mountain to climb after Saturday's matches. Good to hear Sturridge is back training and may make the bench tomorrow though.

It's the language that basically winds me up. "stop killing cyclists"? Lije people are actually doing it on purpose.
-
Make your mind up, you're either "not a lock em and flog wm person" or you are. I think the community service would be much more useful than locking her up. What the hell is the point?
-
But if she was just banned for driving for kife, with no prison sentence at all (suspended or otherwise), plenty of people would scream and shout about that. Don't get me wrong, if a person kilks a cyclist because they're driving like a total nut case, they should lose their right to drive AND spend some time in prison IMO. But in this case I think losing her license woukd have been appropriate.
-
Actually I think a lifetime ban from driving would be appropriate foe someone found guilty of causing death by careless driving. Somehow I can't imagine it would be enough to satisfy you.
-
Very sad story LadyD, bit out of interest what punishment for do you think the woman should have veen the given? It was a shitty needless accident that was her fault, but woukd locking her up fir years really nake any bloody difference?

I see Defoe has signed for Toronto. Can't really blame him, but still a good squad player lost to Sours.

And you were the one that started with the "Duh". Had that been at me, it would have gotten my back up too.

"Football mirrors life." Er, no. It really doesn't.

You obviously didn't know me as an 18 year old. I felt lucky getting one girl to share my bed, having a queue was for the cooler guys!

I'm the same paco. I've told this elsewhere, but so what. When I was in the first year of uni living in halls, I had a girlfriend living in an all girls hall, and 3 girls that I can remember all claimed to have seen ghosts in their rooms at night, my girlfriend being one of them. Too much booze? One of the girls was a very sweet innocent thing that barely touched a drop, so no. Tricks of the light? There was a big tree outside my girlfriend's window, and I thought it may have been that, but the 3 girls lived in rooms at different places in the building. Making it up for attention? One of them I could definitely imagine doing that, my girlfriend, I wouldn't entirely put it past her, but the other one, no way. I never saw these ghosts despite my GF seeing them several times. But I have to admit, she was shit scared, and I feel pretty sure she believed she was seeing what she said was seeing. So who knows for sure? I believe that there is some explanation for it, but I can't prove that anymore than the girls could prove what they'd seen. They had a priest exorcise the rooms and everything!

Lots of things get published in journals. It doesn't mean something has been scientifically proven. You clearly believe, and that's you're right. But the way you're typing reminds me of a couple of full on conspiracy theorists that I see on Facebook. They are absolutely convinced they are right and that the rest of us are just foolish mugs that can't see the truth. There is nothing on that site that convinces me of anything. That is not to say that he shouldn't continue his research, and I?m certainly not saying that there is no chance that this stuff may go on to be proved correct. But please don't present that stuff like its absolute proof of something when it's definitely not.

BBC Website "West Ham manager Sam Allardyce retains the backing of the club's owners despite the humiliating League Cup semi-final defeat by Manchester City. BBC Sport has learned that David Gold and David Sullivan were not swayed by the result at the Etihad, despite large sections of the travelling support appearing to turn on the manager. West Ham continue to work hard in the transfer market and are hopeful of adding two or three new players in the coming days. The first arrival could yet be Monaco striker Lacina Traore, who could arrive on loan if he is granted a work permit at a hearing next Monday." It's strange, I generally want clubs to give managers time, and stick with them rather than sacking them after a few bad results, but in this case, he just looks so out of touch with reality.

My God, I am so out of touch with EVERYTHING! Never heard of any of them.
