  4. I'd not heard about this, but the whole putting added pressure on the unemployed in order to somehow convince them that getting a job would be a good idea is just ridiculous. Yes there are SOME people who will happily sign on, whilst earning off the book, and living quite well, but for the most part people are desperate to climb out of their situation. The idea you outline put me in mind of Compulsory income management in Australia. Indigenous Australians treated like shit, not welcome in a lot of work places, turn to drink because life is so crap, and then get told the government are going to give you food vouchers instead of money.

Yes, good point.

Soundtrack = A collection of music / songs that were not written for the film. (Pulp Fiction / Forest Gump) Score = Music written for the film. (Star Wars / Last of the mohicans)

There was even a pub with a kareoke competition which was a bit edgy if you weren't a regular. The Gin Palace was still going strong too.
  10. He's a City fan. Come on PD, I know you're a fiercely loyal Gooner, but surely as a match going fan you must think that they are taking the p!ss a bit there?

    Almost Famous. (Cool film too)
  12. My mum has gopt one for my daughter (at my request), and it looks good. However, I am now slightly concerned that it's going to come with nothing much on it, and cost me an absolute fortune in games & apps. Anyone got any experience of leapfrog products?

The great artists would have teams of artists carving out sculptures for them and stuff like that apparently.
  14. If you punished every dog that has had a snap at another dog in the park at some point, you'd basically have to punish every dog.

Haha, many a late Friday night I'd be sat at the bus stop opposite (being too drunk to walk the rest of the way) and there would be rows of BMWs parked up on the grass.

For a more "epic" soundtrack (orchestral, not songs), I like Last of the mohicans.
  17. Just sorting out some old CDs, and found the soundtrack to Cruel INtentions (90s take on dangerous liaisons). I think it's a cracking soundtrack. Forest Gump is another I like (more so than the film!), especially as it spans quite a wide time period. Any favourites?

I liked the Railway in Sydenham, used to go there when I lived close to the station. I'd only been a couple of times before I was included in a lock in. Sweet!

This is quite funny, from 2009 http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2009/jun/13/guy-browning-pub-etiquette-guide I particularly like (and agree with) "Wine should never be drunk by an adult male in a pub unless accompanied by a full-blown meal. If in doubt order a pint of wine".

Good call Jeremy. I don't think many pubs are actually scary, not these days anyway. But if you go in to a back street boozer and don't show the required respect for the staff, and regulars, then you won't be made welcome. One of the few things my dad actually taught me was proper pub etiquette. It's a lost art for a lot of people these days.

The Castle is not scary (although I think it had it's day in that department) but it does fit the OP in a lot of ways. My scariest pub experience was in the three lions, a Bristol City pub. My mate upon taking me there told me not to speak to anyone incase they heard my accent and assumed I was Millwall.

Bird In Hand - Dartmouth Road, Forest Hill. Proper proper shit hole. I disagree that The Castle is "proper shit", I've grown to quite like it since the CPT went. I do think it fits the bill here though.
