    Great Gigs

I watched part 2 of Crossfire Hurricane last night, and it confirmed what I already knew to be true. Keef was always cool as fuck! Mick was always a bit of a tit.

Totally agree PD, unlike Solomon Burke who's voice was amazing til the day he died.
  3. I don't think most boxers really consider their fans very much. Boxers talk about wanting to have a hometown fight, it's not because they care about the fans getting to see it, it's because they know the fans could give them a real advantage in the fight.

They should absolutely continue to perform. They should keep the hip girations to a minimum though, even if they can afford unlimited replacements!

GG Agree with you as a rule about ageism, but there is something a bit creepy about Mick strutting around like a leery old granddad.
  6. "Agreed, Catford in general tends to be a bit bleak." There are nice parts as you go towards Bromley, but this end is basically pretty shite.
  7. That means he's done around ?200 since I looked this morning.

    X factor

    He'll do retro soul style.
  9. Yep, can't argue with that.
  10. I rarely go anywhere other than the hob in that area. The post place doesn't do it for me, although I only popped in for a quick pint once.
  11. Nothing these morons do makes a lot of sense. It's not like WH is the only club with a bunch of relic dickheads amongst it's fanbase. Problem us they are the scarier blokes, and most of us are unlikely to say "excuse me chaps, but that sort of talk is really not on".
  12. I'd be more optimistic about your chances against Liverpool than West Brom to be honest.
  13. Yeah absolutely disgusting stuff from a portion of WH fans, and hopefully the decent WH fans will condemn it! Wonder what Peter Herbert will have to say about this following his "Yid Army" objections. Maybe he'll understand that things run deeper than he has bothered to look.
  14. Am I the only one to think the actual decor of the place makes it feel cold and bleak?

Yep, agree with all that. We're down the road living between Kirkdale and Dartmouth Road, so roughly half way between Forest Hill & Sydenham stations. Love Wells Park and the woods. Only downside is Wells Park medical practise, which I initially thought was wonderful, but now think has gone down hill very quickly. Tried to book jabs for the girls this orning, only to be told that there is no longer a practise nurse in post, and won't be for the foreseeable! Just the latest thing that has annoyed me about that place, their nurses were lovely too.
  17. I have never understood the appeal of this place. It feels very cold in there somehow, and the food is far from inspired (although to be fair it's never actually been "BAD" when I've been). They don't really cater for vegetarians either, and these days a veggie option for a Sunday roast is an absolute must.
  18. Wow! When I donated it was at about ?150, and I thought it would be nice if it got to ?500, and really great if it got to ?1000. Now it's say at over ?2500! Good going Mark, and the people of the EDF!
  19. LadyG, You've missed out the Tuesday matches. I see you're not tempted by the coupon buster then!
  20. I#ll take a piece of that. Tuesday: Sunderland 1 V QPR 2 Aston Villa 1 V Reading 2 Wednesday: Chelsea 3 V Fulham 1 Everton 1 V Arsenal 2 Southampton 2 V Norwich 0 (Saints to go on a little run now I reckon... Which has probably doomed them to several losses) Stoke 2 V Newcastle 2 Swansea 1 V West Brom 3 Tottenham 2 V Liverpool 2 (Wishful thinking, I suspect Spurs will do us) Man Utd 0 V West Ham 1 Wigan 0 V Man City 2
  21. Saffron, I don't know exactly where you are thinking of, but I'd avoid the part of lower Sydenham near Lower Sydenham station and the big Sainsbury's (borders of Catford). It's a bit bleak down there. Penge is a very underrated area with some beautiful housing in parts. We may also look to move in the next year. Love the area and road we live on, and pay VERY good rent for the 3 bed semi we live in. However, our landlords are basically only charging such low rent because they clearly don't want to spend a penny improving the house.

Now we need Christopher out next week and we'll have a half decent final!
  23. gwod, Sydenham is far from perfect (as is ED for that matter), but it's not a shit hole either.
  24. Yeah, very little chance of getting council housing these days. We rent, and will be renting for ever because there is nout left to save, and how does one save up ?70k odd for a deposit? Anyway, sorry, getting off topic.
  25. Agree with all you said KK. Whilst I respect what Hatton tried to do, 2 or 3 "warm up fights" to get his timing back then he could perhaps have challenged again. He was desperate to get back in there though and as a result probably took on too much too soon. All hindsight though, I admit I gor caught up in the hype and thought he'd win.
