  1. Occasionally look at a story online when it comes up in a google search, but wouldn't ever buy it!

    Dubstep

dub?step  /ˈdʌbˌstɛp/ Show Spelled[duhb-step] noun a style of mostly instrumental electronic music, originating in London, influenced by dub and characterized by syncopated rhythm and an emphasis on bass and drum elements. So what exactly sets this aside from all the other dance music characterized by syncopated rhythm and an emphasis on bass and drum elements?

The Dulwich one is particularly child friendly. I remember going there once in my pre children life, so obviously I had a stinking hangover. After about 10 seconds in there I had to move outside. It was a cold day and spitting rain, but that was preferrable for my head that morning.
  4. That is very very sad. Normally I wouldn't agree with any comments on the Daily Mail website, but have to agree that elderly drivers should be tested regularly, and have licenses removed if they don't pass tests. May or may not have made a difference in this case, but it is a genuine issue.
  5. Peter Herbert now accusing Chelsea / The FA of a big cover up. "We strongly suspect that the FA and/or Chelsea have failed to provide this information to the Metropolitan Police in order for them to conduct a proper investigation," The information we had is that there are 'no victims'. Well, if there are no victims, what on earth has been referred to the FA in the first place? "What on earth are the FA and Chelsea playing at then? Are they having some cosy exchange of statements between themselves and not giving it to the police?" The fact is Pete, that you jumped straight in and alerted the police to this "incident" without a shred of evidence that it wasn't a complete fabrication, and now you're feeling a little bit silly. Surely it's a matter of time before the Society of Black Lawyers have a word with this bloke and tell him to shut up. If I was a black lawer I think I'd be cringing at this bloke representing me!
  6. Gidget, that's not just parents, I see quite a lot of people cycling on the pavement. This minority of cyclists much like a minority of parents give others a bad name.
  7. "This thread is starting to parody itself. Now, what other annoying groups of people can we start to include? Toddlers with dogs off lead? Single work-from-home cyclists? Let's do it!" I know I was being slightly mischeivious in sharing this thread with the Family Room, but I think it would genuinely be nice if we couold discuss certain things on this forum without every one with kids immediately going on the defencive, and everyone without kids immediately making sweeping statements about parents and kids. Early posts from Nanny, Mike P, LondonMix and Pickle were refreshing to read, and reflect how I really feel as a parent who looks at the behaviour of some other parents as shocking.
  8. The Pizza Express thing did make me laugh because their design always leads to a noisy acoustic. Plus they are very child friendly. A place I'd always avoid if I wanted peace.
  9. Very good point about the change in affluence. Eating out has become nothing particularly special (unless you are going to a mega expensive place). Even take aways used to be an occasional treat for a special occasion.
  10. Fair point from the chairman though "Suppose we had tried to sweep this under the rug and said to the various players, 'Look, it's not a big deal and the press are going to be all over us, maybe you want to reconsider'. If that had leaked out, we would've really been crucified."
  11. Like! Sitting in the corner of the lounge bar of the CPT with my sister drinking lemonade & lime and eating crisps. And the old garden at the OLD plough, when it was grassy.
  12. The FA have still got the opportunity to make an ass of themselves, so Clattenburg will probably still be punished somehow.
  13. I saw them do a very folky set at WOMAD 2010, and thought it was rather good. Before that the only song I knew was the one about getting knocked down and getting up again.
  14. Kids are kids, they can't help it. I was moaning about CERTAIN parents.
  15. PS. This thread will very likely be moved to the business section, as you are selling a service.
  16. Do you do one off lessons for specific things? Like if I said I wanted to work on an aspect of my playing that was one of your strengths could I just book a couple of sessions to work specifically on that, or are you just looking for long term students?
  17. Just to clarify, I wasn't aiming my while post at Quids, just the first line. Sorry that wasn't at all clear.
  18. Quids I'm not entirely sure a comparison between a victorian and a 21st centry East Dulwich holds much water. Of course there have always been families in the area, but the area has gone through a massive change in the last 10-12 years. That is all good, but to then say to people who lived there before "why would you want to live in a family area like this, just move elsewhere" is pretty selfish. East Dulwich is a big enough area with enough pubs and cafes that it should be able to cater for families and those who want to avoid families. I really don't get why anyone would have a problem with that.

    The BBC

Okay so some of the reporters are a bit fresh and tabloid, but I still like the way they bring me the news.

    Channel 4 News is great.
  22. no one on this thread has moaned about kids.

Don't know about etiquette, but for me, if they cry, I pick them up, if they are still crying after a minute I take them outside, and if I can't calm them I leave.
  24. Heh heh, couldn't resist highlighting this thread to the good people of the family room.
