  1. Just to add that for the last 10 years QEH has been massively management heavy. We were not able to set up a clinic there because managers felt they needed that empty room for monthly meetings! My wife works for Guy's & Tommy's trust (probably the richest in the country), and they have just told temp staff to take 2 weeks off, because they "can't afford" to pay them. At the same time, they are still advertising management roles. Obviously managers are needed, but the NHS needs to have a good longlook at it's structures and sort it the Hell out!
  2. I used to work for Greenwich sociual services, and so spent a lot of time at Queen Elizabeth's. It's the most stupidly situated hospital in the world!!!!! How they can expect people in Forest Hill, Sydenham, Lewisham, Catford to get over there with their A&E issues is beyond me. And as Buggie says, they have just spent a load of money on Lewisham Hospital, and now they want to close those exact areas. Morons!!!
  3. Should have called this thread "Buggies not welcome at Lewisham A&E", it would be 5pages long by now!
  4. I think she's being clever to be honest. And as she says, how many people watch BBC Parliament and PM's questions, and how many watch Get me out of here? She will have a platform from which to preach to millions. Next year there will be an MP from each party, mark my words!

    What *bob* said!
  6. I think you should go for a weekend on your own to get your skiing fix. 2 year old way too young IMHO.
  7. That is a pretty crude slogan, but it has you talking so it's done it's job. There are already empty old fire stations all over London, the thought of more closing is scary.

    US Election

Regarding the use of BHO. Surely the only other option is BO, and that's just rude.
  9. Proposals include... - Full admitting accident and emergency department becomes a Non-admitting urgent care centre - 24/7 surgical emergency admissions end - Obstetric and co-located midwife led-birthing unit becomes Potential obstetric and co-located midwife led-birthing unit - 24/7 emergency medicine end - Critical care unit end - Inpatient padeatric service end - Complex inpatiant surgery end Details of a campaign and a public meeting (tomorrow night) here http://www.savelewishamhospital.com/ Many users on here live in Forest Hill / Sydenham areas, and will be affected by these changes. And those of you in Dulwich, Kings does not have the capacity to take on this overspill!

    US Election

Second term, doesn't need to worry about getting reelected, so now he can forget about upsetting people and get on with it. People talk as if he done nothing in his first term, but without his decisions at home, America would be screwed.

I liked the idea of the blind auditions on The Voice, but wasn't at all keen on the "duel" week. After that it was cool, but the 2 really talented singers got voted off with a week to go, so it was still won by a boring female ballad singer.
  12. Watch from 12:20, made me laugh. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/8-out-of-10-cats/4od#3438528
  13. Hi there. I'd repost in the Family Room Classified section, and call the thread "Offered - Tuition for 11+ prep".
  14. "Many of us who have used this cafe off and on since its opening a couple of years ago are baffled by this, as the The Gardens was initially very family/buggy friendly." So, in conclusion, they tried it, it clearly done their head in, so they changed. Probably a really really stupid business move, but their right to make it. If they're still open by next summer, then perhaps it wasn't such a bad idea, and they have attracted a group of customers who like a buggy free place. We've all seen many a thread on here with people moaning about kids in pubs / cafes, so surely there are people out there who would enjoy a place where buggies were not particularly made welcome? For the record, at no point have I sided with the chap's opinion on mums and buggies (although I do think that SOME people could be more considerate to the world outside of their little bubbles), but I just think he has every right to run his business as he sees fit, within the law, and he'll have to live with the consequences of his choices.
  15. God loves a trier, wonder when he'll get the message...
  16. "peering over you all the time. Control freaks. Think they have a right to dictate what you are working on all of the time." I just couldn't live with that. Feb 2009 - July 2012 I was working on projects and more or less left totally to my own devises. This was great, I could work when I wanted so long as it was done, which meant I got to enjoy a lot of time with my new children, and could type reports after they were in bed. Now I'm back working in a team, but the manager is very pleased to have me and my colleague because we are dealing with a big thorn in her side, so she pretty much lets us get on with it. Sometimes it's good to have someone to sit and talk things through with in supervision, but I couldn't be doing with someone breathing down my neck!

    Buying a camera

    Just seen this http://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/london/Jessops/12580547
  18. Couple of tweets on bbc website that made me chuckle. "Scotland should try and appoint Arsene Wenger! That seems to be only way forward for the Gunners!" Andrew Edwards on Twitter: "Scotland sighs a breath of relief as McLeish distances himself from national team job, as managerless clubs await with fear." Did anyone watch 8 out of 10 cats last night? They mentioned the Chelsea / Clattengurg situation and I think it's fair to say that they were not really buying Chelsea's story!

He did do that last year, but not in quite as openly nasty a way IMO. Lucy / Kate Nash. Totally agree, Nash was the person I immediately thought of, and yes her career seems to have faltered somewhat. I kind of like Lucy's cheekyness in her songs though, and think she's a better story teller.

Exactly. Plus I think Gary Barlow has shown himself up as having a real nasty side to him, and the longer Rylan stays in the more it annoys him, so heres hoping Rylan outlasts Christopher (who is way worse than Rylan anyway).
  21. Liverpool in '96/97 was about ?12 if memory serves.
  22. Guess it depends on what you think is a rip off. I think footy tickets are disgustingly over priced these days. Off to Anfield on the 17th for the first time since I left Liverpool 11 years ago, and can't believe the prices!
  23. Fair enough, guess different kids have different thresholds to what is comfortable for them. Mine haven't (so far...) been bothered.
  24. "and will not leave me feeling ripped off?" You're going to a premier league match, of course you'll be ripped off!
  25. If Suarez gets injured or banned, Liverpool will not score a goal. FACT!
