I was very much part of "the music lot" at school, but also played rugby which widened the pool of people I interacted with. Music was the best in my school because it was all boys, but if you were a music student you got to be in mixed choir / bands, and access the girls school. Hurrah!
  2. It was pretty shot sighted of lots of councils not to maintain their prefabs. There were loads around ED when I was a kid, and there was nothing wrong with them. They'd have made excellent retirement homes for people that wanted to downsize in their old age.
  3. The thing is, since when did it become the duty of councils to ensure that everyone could access their chosen hobby locally. If I took up hang gliding I'd need to go somewhere with a cliff to jump off, I wouldn't expect the local authority to erect one.
  4. And it would be the police that got all the bad press when some "poor" rider cracked his skull on the pavement.

Depression IS a disabling illness to different extents. But I suspect they've removed this label in order to stop DLA claims from anyone that's been to the doctor saying they're feeling a bit blue.
  6. Red Devil is of course correct. However, I do think it's fair to say that kids will often gravitate towards other kids from similar backgrounds, because that's what they're most comfortable with. Friendships are then made, and those groups are cemented. Obviously there is (and should be more) crossover, but I do think that is largely how it goes.

Okay so start a petition then you cocks.
  8. Although they only do Saturday afternoons for kids parties.
  9. Interesting this week the top (foxy) and bottom (me... boooo) scores are a mirror image.
  10. RE Venue, you could try St Clement's church hall (situated on the grounds of the church, in between Barry & Friern Roads). Call Marie on 02082994201. That's my mum so be nice :-)

Put them in our daughters' book bags and have had no leaking issues.
  12. That's interesting. The guys I've seen doing wheelies down the road with no helmets have always been more like 18 - 22 sort of age. 28 - 34 year olds doing this sort of thing seriously need a slap.

It could be. Back in the 90s she used to literally paint herself with proper thick emulsion paint. A CPN friend of mine once told me (about 10 years ago) that she'd regularly be sectioned so that the paint could be taken off because it didn't allow her skin to breathe and was not good for her at all.
  14. Yes interesting post admin, thanks. Personally I really don't think people should be reporting things on the off chance that someone else might find it offensive.
  15. She is a tall woman. I remember my first encounter with her when I was maybe 15/16. I turned a corner off Lordship Lane and almost walked straight in to her. It was dark, and she was just almost glowing. I'd heard mention of her, but it hadn't quite prepared me for the real thing. Poor lady had some real mental health issues, but has been doing a lot better in more recent years by all accounts. And I am sure at that time (early 90s) she actually lived in ED.
  16. How about a creepy crawly party? My girls LOVE them, my 6 year old has held snakes, and all sorts, and my 4 year old had a tarantula tickling her hand at Hornimans on Sunday.
  17. Still bloody bottom!
  18. Yep it's been going on a while (although not on this scale). Bunch of stupid spoilt little cunts. Frankly if one of them came off his bike in front of me I'd be laughing as I called the ambulance.
  19. A good example of context is the N word. Used by pretty much anyone it is unacceptable and insulting to say the least. But used by some black people to other certain black people, it has become part of their culture. Context innit.
  20. I actually got a few correct results today. No correct scores though I don't think.
  21. red devil Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You seem unable to grasp the context of...context. That just made me LOL.
  22. But it is an interesting idea that some people might watch "Life on Mars" / "Ashes to Ashes" in the privacy of their own home and laugh at Gene Hunt (in that context) only to feel uncomfortable when hearing exactly the sae stuff in real life. But I guess they could argue that they are laughing at the absurdity of what was acceptable in the 70s / 80s.
  23. I agree with Jah. BUT I do think there are peole out there who will claim offence even when none is genuinely taken, just so they can show the world how liberal and right on they are.
  24. Waverley and it's evil red jumpered girls.
  25. Yep, my parents had this recently, and had 3 visits (each a week apart) for full fumigation. Total pain, but the only way to be sure they're deaslt with.
