  1. Will bb join u2 later for their joint hit I wonder?
  2. as well as several bots in operation at the moment I see a couple of posters have been banned several times in the past and insist on coming back exhibiting the same behaviour Not saying a holding pen for new registrations is a cure-all but I can see the temptation
  3. good points fidgetsmum and Mod... but in my defence I wasn't intending to talk primarily about homebirths. It was more to underline how powerful I felt midwives (Lanes in my case) were in advising us, not-quite-changing-our-opinion, and ultimately just being great Mavis (who is indeed marvellous) is looking for info about midwives and I thought that was pertinent - but yes I agree a debate about homebirthing alone is for another thread I have posted elsewhere in the past about how great I found the Lanes midwives to be (that';s who we ended up with, I have no reason to think others are any different) and wish MM nothing but the best x

    Slutwalk

then you clearly aren't reading LadyD's posts properly
  5. have a word with Michael Eavis for me as well then please But I have never, ever managed to buy a ticket for any event, in any country where demand was so high that wasn't compromised in exactly this way. And I'm not aware of any business process that gets around it either. When they tried to avoid the worst excesses by having a lottery first, people were hacked off about that too
  6. srisky - I hear what you are saying. And if it wasn't clear from my post we didn't plan for a home birth - we were very much of a similar mind to you But with 2 midwives assesing the situation (ostensibly to avoid turning up at the hospital too early only to be sent away again) it was obvious it wasn't going to be one of the 1% where things go wrong. Seems eminently sensible to me I'm not sure I think the seatbelt analogy is entirely correct either.
  7. I'm going to back this up 100% We were totally planning for hospital birth. Midwives did talk that some couples change their minds at the time. We poo-poo'd them but in the end they were totally right. It was just so much better BUT The most undramatic of complications meant we did have to go to the hospital for the very last bit. And the hospital were absoultely fantastic and I have zero complaints. And yet it changed the whole atmosphere completely (there was no worry or stress, nothing was wrong as such) and it meant an overnight stay when in theory we would have been able to stay in the cosy environment at home Had anything serious happend at home, we had two midwives with us who not only were able to deal with most eventualities but were able to have an ambulance at the door in 2 minutes So whatever birth you envisage and prefer, I would back completely. But I am a (very late) convert to the preference (not insistence) of home birth
  8. airlines and concert ticket websites don't face that many millions hitting refresh constantly and simultaneously anyone applying for glastonbury tickets in the mid 2000s will be familiar with the routine tho. When you have that many millions applying at THE SAME TIME - you can't feasably and economically install that many servers
  9. just pulling that up before *bob* does
  10. I'm soooooo far behind you - just bagged up a whole bunch of 0-3 month clothes for the first time
  11. Don't think so - he showed up at the last curry night in person
  12. they can investigate all they like, but that doesn't mean they are legally free to publish everything they find
  13. I suspect that the BBC is not disinterested in the case, but is taking an editorial view that there are too many unknowns to make any report meaningful - so any report they can legally publish would add nothing to the known facts
  14. To expand The thought of a child being removed because of breastfeeding patterns is massively concerning But equally The thought of a child being left with a mother/father who, regardless of breastfeeding habits, is putting the child?s life/health at risk is massively concerning From what I can see on this thread and on the facebook page, a lot of breast-feeding mothers are focusing on that aspect alone and disregarding anything else, with a suggestion that there is some conspiracy against breat-feeding. Which doesn?t make any sense at all does it?
  15. what about this report tho "the committee that decided to remove Alma had received a separate report that mentioned "chaotic" breastfeeding as a relatively minor concern. "
  16. neighbours on the other hand.. less appreciative
  17. Ghost World and Trees Lounge = sick-day in bed comfort movies
  18. not sure it counts as an action movie but Leon has some cracking action set-pieces
  19. Last 2 Batman films? kickass
  20. "a bloke" is bound to have sympathy with someone he believes is being picked on. But DJ shouldn't feel picked upon. ANYONE who comes out with a strident tone couple with opinions such as those expressed here is going to get pulled-up
  21. I haven't seen it for quite a while to be fair - and many of the films I thought I liked and watched recently have fallen by the wayside.
  22. so.. ost Touchstone films realeased in the late 80s for some people then? i second con-air and I'm with Otta for Face Off too
  23. we do Maybe I'm thick and just misunderstanding what you mean by "most men don't get that of course". I mean I'm reading it properly I think . I just can't believe what I'm reading And having read the thread I can't see any bullying - just someone making very silly claims and being called on it. And then claiming they are being bullied
