  1. Hi all, Finally got back on the forum after going AWOL for the last three months. I bumped into Caroline (Bellenden belle) on Friday and it made me realise how long it had been since I was last posted on here. I'd love to see you all and the babies. I hope to join you on Tuesday at 2pm. Hope you're all doing well. Isabella and I are doing great. Isabella is getting bigger abd cuter everyday. Though exhausted I'm enjoying every minute. I can't believe she's 3 months old, where does the time go! See you on Tuesday! Sal X
  2. Hi all, Very happy to announce the arrival of my little baby girl Isabella who was born on Friday the 17th of Feb. Isabella had a bit of a dramatic entrance into the world after a 30 hour labour. She had very low oxygen levels and was in intensive care for 4 days and then in special care for the following week. We finally got her home 2 nights ago. She's a real little fighter and we are so relieved and ecstatic to have her home. We got another surprise when the doctors informed us that Isabella has downs syndrome. Although this was not what we expected we are so happy to have such a beautiful and amazing daughter. I can't speak highly enough of the care we received at Kings. They were so supportive of Rohan, Isabella and I. Rohan and I were given a private room and were told we could stay as long as we needed. It was quite an experience and I'm so glad it's over. I'm so looking forward to enjoying my gorgeous baby girl and meeting up with you all soon and see all the new babies! Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the thrills of motherhood. Xxxxx
  3. Hi all, Hope you all had fun at the meet up today. Ended up having the ECV done today and not on Friday. All went really well and she is now head down!!!! I'm do pleased!!! Now it's the waiting game! I've now started maternity leave and looking forward to see you all at the next meet up. Sal X
  4. thanks to Tomo Caroline for your advice. I'm booked to have the ECV tomorrow morning. Cross fingers for me!
  5. Congratulations Nicky!! That's wonderful news. Hope you are recovering well after that long induction process. I can't wait to meet all these new babies!! xxx
  6. That's excellent news Caroline. It's so reassuring to hear your positive experience. I booked to have another scan next Tuesday afternoon and depending on how that goes they'll book me in for the ECV. So I am going to spend the next few days with my butt in the air and my head on the floor to see if I can help her along. If not, I'm comforted to hear such a positive story about ECV. Good luck to Ruth for your section today and to everyone waiting patiently for their bubs to arrive. Sal x
  7. I'm in the same boat Caroline. I'm 35 + 5 and breech. I'm having a scan tomorrow to confirm it. I'm so hoping she turns in time but have also been told that they will try ECV around 37 weeks. I hope your little un turns before then but if not will be very interested to hear how things go with the ECV. I'm trying every trick in the book to turn her. I was just crawling around on all fours on the floor and I'm about to do some weird inversion thing with my knees on the couch head on the floor which I found on spinning babies. I also heard about the cold pack idea but did not have anything that I could use except a cold bottle of champagne that was left in the fridge from new years. I had quite a giggle to myself as I sat on the couch with a champagne bottle pressed against the top of my belly. I'll be thinking of you and hope that bubs turns for you soon. Let me know if you find any trick that works. Congratulations Steph. So many new babies!! I can't wait to meet them all. Sal xx
  8. Hi all, Congratulations to all the mums with gorgeous new babies!! Pickle, I hope things move along quickly for you. Take care and will be thinking of you. I've still got just over a month to go and 8 days of work. Very much looking forward to maternity leave and hoping for a few weeks break before bubs makes an appearance (but not too many weeks as I may go crazy waiting for her!). At some stage we will have to update our list to include the new arrivals and the dates they were born. Perhaps that will be a job for me once I start maternity leave. Something to distract me whilst I wait for baby millymoo to arrive. Sal xxx
  9. I'm so looking foward to watching it! I'm 33 weeks pregnant and not sure how I will fare watching it but I like to think it will make me excited about the birth. I like to know exactly what I am in for!
  10. Congratulations Anna! Sounds like a great birthing experience. I'd love to know what was in the concoction? One Born every minute starts again tonight on Channel 4? Is anyone planning on watching it? I loved the last series but I wasn't pregnant when I watched it last so not sure how it will be now that I'm not that far away from going through it myself. I look forward to meeting all the newborns soon. I'm enjoying keeping an eye on the forum to see how everyone is going and who has had their baby. I'm still 6 and a bit weeks away!
  11. Congratulations Sara and Lindsay!!!!!!!!!!! Merry Christmas all! Xxx
  12. Congratulations Bee! Fantastic news. I have been thinking of all the mums to be due around Christmas. Will there be a christmas day babe? I'm looking forward to seeing you all and new arrivals in the new year. Have a great Christmas. Sal Xxxxx
  13. Hi Hannah, I had really hoped to come on Thursday night as a pamper night sounds wonderful right about now. Unfortunately I'm going to Rohan's work Christmas do on Thursday night. Hopefully catch up with you soon. Sal
  14. Congratulations Alix! We're on a roll now. Two baby girls so far, I wonder if there'll be a boy next? It's so exciting that the group is starting to pop. I've still got 10 weeks to go which is starting to feel like a lifetime. Good luck to all that are due in the next few weeks. Will we have a christmas day baby? Sal Xxx
  15. Congratulations Mothercourage!! Well done!! Who will be next???? Look forward to meeting your little baby girl. xx
  16. I've just arrived. First one here so I've got us a spot near the pizza oven. See you all soon.
  17. I would like to thank everyone for their contributions to this post especially littlemoo (thank you for sharing your story and I'm so sorry for your loss. I am so glad you felt brave enough to tell your story as it was an important story for us to hear), sillywoman and Sbryan (for both of your views and the ongoing support, you both share, in women having the information required to make the choice that's right for them and their babies). I am a first time mum to be and have found the information on this discussion helpful in thinking about my own options. It has reinforced my own wish that I not put any expectations on myself about how the birth may go. I watched one of my best friend make a detailed birth plan for the birth of her first child. The birth did not go to plan and she ended up having an epidural and a forceps delivery. She has a beautiful baby boy but after the birth felt that she had failed in her first steps as a mother because she had not been able to have the birth she had planned for. It took some time for her to overcome this. This really changed my own view for my birth plan. I am choosing to have a hospital birth and my only want for the birth is the safe and healthy delivery of my beautiful baby. I believe as women we have the right to choose what is right for us individually and for our baby without guilt or worry that we are failing in some way if that includes or does not include medical interventions. I strongly support anyone choosing a homebirth and I hope this will be an option for me next time round. I also agree that there needs to be an increase in funding and resources for maternity services and that all hospitals should include a home from home birthing centre. I also agree that there needs to be better post natal care offered at hospital immediately after the birth. I am already considering requesting discharge as soon as possible after birth rather than being admitted to the post natal ward as (from what I hear)the level of resourcing on the ward is not conducive to providing the support that you need to rest and recover after birth and the support that may be needed to establish breast feeding. Thanks again for everyones contributions so far. They have been really helpful and thought provoking.
  18. Hi all, I'd be up for a pampering evening. Sounds great to me!! I'm meant to be going to hubby's work christmas do that night but I'm not %100 sure whether I'm going to go. I'll let you know. See you all on Thursday. Sal
  19. Hi Sara, I would also be interested in the infant first aid resus course. I wish i could join you guys for coffee and cake on Wednesday. Maternity leave still feels so far away!! See all the hypnobirthers on tuesday and the rest of you on Thursday night. Sal
  20. Hi Cathy, Congratulations and welcome to the winter baby group. We meet up once a fortnight on a thursday from 7pm at the Actress Pub on north cross road. Our next meet up is next Thursday. It will be great to meet you. Sal :)
  21. Hi Bee, I'm still keen and am available next week. The 2.5 hr practical course is option that I'd be most interested in. Thanks for organising Bee. Sal
  22. Hi Bee, I would be interested! I did the sleep seminar and it was really good. I've just recently started thinking about hypnobirthing so would be keen to do this. Sal
  23. Hi ladies, Sorry I wasn't able to make it last night. We've had loads of friends and family come to stay with us over the last few months and it seems to always coincide with our thursday group. I've looked ahead and no bookings at 'Hotel Cassidy' for a fortnights time so will definitely be at the next one. Wiff Waff, I hope you weren't left on your own. Apologies if you were. Sal
