  1. Hi all, I totally agree with Anna. The sleep seminar was excellent. I highly recommend it to anyone thinking of doing it. Thanks to Emma and Anna for organising it and for the lovely brownies and cup cakes baked by Emma and Nicky. They were scrummy. Look forward to seeing you all on Thursday at the Actress. Sal
  2. Hi all, I have to send my apologies again. I can't make tonight as my mother in law is staying with us and hubby arranged dinner out forgetting my mum to be club. Will definitely be there Thursday fortnight. Hope you are all doing well. Sal
  3. Thanks again mothercourage for organising this. I'm looking forward to it.
  4. Hi Pommie, I don't have any experience in regards to kidney problems however I recently had my 22 weeks scan and they discovered there is excess amniotic fluid around the baby. There are number of potential causes some more scarier than others but they were unable to pinpoint what the cause is in my case. It may just be one of those things that will right itself. I felt so worried when they told me. The idea that something could be wrong with your baby is devastating and I found myself automatically thinking about whether it was something I had done and feeling angry with my body for somehow failing my baby. I know now that's not true and it's just one of those things that happen. We have to go back at 26 weeks for another scan to check it again. My advice for you is don't look it up on the internet or if you do only use the nhs site or babycentre.co.uk (i found there information helpful and reassuring). The most reassuring thing I keep being told is that if it was very serious they would be asking to see me earlier than 26 weeks. The fact that they are happy to wait 8 weeks to see you again should be a reassuring sign. For me, I just feel more relaxed about it now. I feel my little one moving and kicking around everyday and I'm hopeful that when we go back at 26 weeks things will be ok. I'll be hoping the same thing for you and your little one. Good luck.
  5. Welcome Kate!! You are more than welcome to join our gathering of motherducks to be. You and I are due almost at the same time, I'm the 18th of Feb. Look forward to meeting you. Sal
  6. Hi lovely ladies, I'm so jealous of those that have started maternity leave! I'd love to meet up with you guys for a coffee during the day. Like Bellenden belle I still have 3 months to go and counting down. I'm definitely still up for the sleep session. November is looking really good for me and could do any Thursday, Friday (evenings) and Saturday and Sunday's between the 10th and 27th of November. December looks a bit more difficult but there is a couple of dates I could do if necessary. Thanks to mothercourage and missmack for organising. Look forward to seeing you all soon. Sal
  7. Hi Mothercourage, I would be interested in attending. I can only do evenings or weekend as I'm still a way off maternity leave. I like the idea of an overall approach rather than following one particular book such as Gina Ford. I just don't want to put too much pressure on myself following a strict routine whilst I am trying to get my head around having a little baby to care for. I watched a friend of mine send herself crazy following strict routines and she ultimately feels that she didn't enjoy the time with her baby. I think I could easily fall into the same trap so would much rather attend something like this. Sal
  8. Sorry ladies I'm still at work and not going to make it tonight. Been one of those days. Will definitely make it on Tuesday night. Sal
  9. Hi ladies, I've been caught up at work. I'm hoping to still make it tonight but will be late. Sal
  10. Hi all, We had our 22 week scan yesterday. We are having a girl!! She's doing really well and is a very very active little thing. She would not stay still through the whole the scan, they had fun trying to do all the tests and measurements. Unfortunately there is excess fluid around the baby which explains why I'm quite big for my dates. We saw the consultant who said the baby looks healthy, brain and organs look good so they do not think it's any of the more scary causes but I have to go back for another scan in 4 weeks time to check it again. I was just wondering whether anyone has any experience of this? I had my flu jab on Friday the only downside for me is I've now developed a cold. :( Looking foward to seeing you all on Thursday at the Actress. Sal
  11. I've booked in to have a flu jab tomorrow morning as recommended but wondered what everyone's thoughts were on the flu jab and has anyone else had it? This will be the first time I've had it and am naturally anxious about having it now I'm pregnant. But I'm also anxious about getting the flu as it does seem to be doing to rounds at the moment. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Sal
  12. Hi ladies, Sorry I couldn't make it on Tuesday we had a friend staying with us on that night. I'm sorry to hear you were on your own Hannah. I'll definitely be there next Thursday at the Actress and looking forward to seeing you all. Congratulations to those who have had your scans. Am I correct in thinking we have more boys so far than girls? I'm so excited about our scan on Monday and naturally anxious as well. I can't wait to find out what we are having and seeing our little bubs hearing the s/he is happy and healthy. My little one is really active now; kicking and rolling around. It's so comforting and amazing to feel. Mooncake, you're idea for a spreadsheet with emails and phone numbers is a great one. See you on Thursday. Sal
  13. Hi all, Unfortunately I can't make tomorrow night but I'll be there next Thursday at the Actress. I hope everyone is doing well. I've got my scan next Monday so might be able to share the sex of the baby with you next Thursday. I am very excited!!! Sal
  14. My Mum used to tell me if I didn't finish my dinner that she would put it on top of the fridge (not in the fridge) and I would have to eat it for breakfast the next day. I can never remember her following through with the threat but that's probably because the threat worked and I always ate my dinner. To this day I struggle to leave food on my plate even when I'm full. My parents use to send us to Sunday school with the religious family who lived next door just so they could have sunday's to themselves. My parents are not religious at all. Luckily we loved it! I just loved all the singing that went on. To this day we still torture our parents with all the sunday school songs we learnt.
  15. Thursday's at the Actress sound great to me. Their pizza's are yummy which is always good for a craving Mum to be! Nothing like a free Jager bomb or two to wash it down haha! Thanks Missmack! See you all tomorrow night. Sal
  16. Wow, it's great to see how our numbers have grown. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone on the 27th. I'm also in favour of meeting more regularly especially as we all get closer to our due dates. See you next week. Sal
  17. Hi all, thanks for a brilliant night. It was great to meet you all. I'm now doing my pelvic floor exercises as I'm sat here typing, so thanks for the reminder :) I'm available on the 27th and look forward to seeing you all again especially to chat with everyone I missed at the other end of the table. It will be good to see how our bumps have grown when we next meet. Take care Sal Xx P.S thanks Bellenden Belle for organising our get togethers.
  18. Thanks Elli and B for your suggestions. I will definitely give them a go. I'm glad to hear that although it may not go away that it will get better. Gives me some hope. B, I would also be interested in the Saturday morning yoga. Sal
  19. Hi all, Thanks for your congratulations. It's so nice to be able to share it with people now. It makes it feel real now and even more exciting. I have had the pleasure of telling all my friends and family in Australia and here in the UK and finally tell my work. It's so good not to have to pretend that I'm feeling well and perky at work when I'm really feeling tired and sick. I'm desperate to find out whether anyone else is suffering with an awful taste in their mouth. It's the one thing that is driving me bonkers, I can deal with nausea and the tiredness. The only relief I get from it is when I eat, drink, chew gum and gargle with mouth wash but unless I'm doing one of these things then the taste is with me. I would love to know if anyone has this and knows of any remedy or can assure me that this will pass in the second trimester. I'm looking forward to meeting you all on the 25th. Sal
  20. Hi all, I had my scan today and very excited and relieved to report that he or she is developing well and looks gorgeous already. I am due on the 18th of February. I am definitely up for meeting you all on the 25th of August. Look forward to having a good chat with you all. Sal
  21. Thanks acm that's cleared it up. It did seem a bit strange as it's been so quiet up this end. Glad to know it's nothing to do with the mindless violence happening tonight.
  22. I live across the road from it. It's under control. The fire must have been small because I could only see smoke but it's clearing since fire brigade turned up. Strangely it's been very quiet so was surprised to see it when I looked out the window.
  23. Sainsbury local on lordship lane has been broken into. Smoke currently billowing out. Police and fire brigade in attendance.
  24. I rang Kings Maternity help line this morning to chase up my scan appointment. I am so relieved I did as they had not recieved a referral from my GP. They took the referral from me instead and are going to be sending me a letter by the end of the week with the date of my scan. Luckily it shouldn't delay my scan in any way. Thanks for the advice and see you in a few weeks. S
  25. Thanks ladies. I will definitely be ringing up tomorrow. I'm with the 306 medical centre on lordship lane and saw my GP four weeks ago. I haven't received an appointment to see a midwife either. Apparently 306 do shared care with Kings. I hope my referral was done by the GP as she said would. For a first timer it does feel like your flying blind for the first three months. I have no idea how the system works and what to expect. Hopefully it will become clearer as time goes on. I'll definitely be chasing things up tomorrow. Thanks for your help. S
