Hi James I visited a local 'corner shop' yesterday and commented to the owner how much better it looked now that he was having a complete refurb of the shopfront. I was quite surprised when he told me the council suggested it and were paying for it. He told me that some other shops nearby had also taken up this offer. When has it become the remit of the council to use our taxes to improve local businesses? Surely they should be funding their own improvements? Is this ususal practice and the best use of council funds? My front door could do with a sanding down and a lick of paint but I doubt the council will do it for me.

Well I didn't 'report' anything last year. However on my return the Golden Child was showing signs of wealth which weren't there last year. Holiday booked for partner, 2 kids and partners Mum costing over ?4k. Took ?5k in cash to spend and already booked holiday for next year. Plus bought a couple of giant 3d TV's and varous other items which could only be classed as luxury items. In effect spending what would seem to be way beyond his means. However he loved talking about it. What happened next, happened very quickly.

Well, I left that place at the end of August 2011, but returned by request in April this year. It just got better. I may release the story in chapters, subject to interest or lack of it!

He actually finished well yesterday, but so many Americans played well someone has to be on the bench.

No complaints about yesterdays score nor the Americans. Their crowds seemed respectful which isn't always the case. I wonder should Rory and GMac be split up today to allow Rory be a 'senior' partner in a pairing? I guess two or three won't be seen again until the singles.
