  1. If you could, it would be interesting to know what the relationship is between how wealthy a country is and how many people die as a result of 'materialistic' crimes. Guns or no guns. What pushes people over the edge to decide to resort to crime where sometimes it appears to be simply based 'what you have' is what I want. I don't have what I would like by a long stretch, but I'm not about to try and obtain it by means other than legitimate ones.
  2. Thanks to my attention to detail I got someone sacked at work this week. Had mixed feelings about it.

Surely the quarter back (why is he called that?) has THE most important role?
  4. It's amazing really that there is one guy in the 'team' that just comes on for kicks (very witty, I know). Imagine applying the American football 'rules' to 'soccer'. There's a corner kick and two new teams come on, a defensive one and an attacking one. By the way they had a College game in Dublin last week-end at Lansdowne Rd, as a sort of one off. Some 35,000 Americans flew into Ireland for the game which was a big boost to the economy.
  5. Does anyone here get American football? I understand it to a point and think it's longwinded and boring, but I don't know why Americans like it so much. I heard one broadcaster last night saying how waiting for yesterdays opening match of the season was like waiting for Santa at Christmas. I presume the BBC are getting some of the action cheaply from the NFL in the hope of expanding its fan base.
  6. Most of the posts here are from the excluded guys but I do think if you're trying to advertise something you would be better off not presuming everyone knows what it is.
  7. http://www.london-eating.co.uk/2821.htm Worth considering if you read the reviews. I've only ever had something to take away from there for lunch.
  8. I think she sells girls toys. That's why boys aren't invited. I don't know why it's called a party though.

I was wondering what people would do to defend themselves/their property without the use of a gun? For example, would you hit someone with a hammer if you got close enough to them and had one handy? That could cause a fatality. I don't think I could use any weapon against someone unless my life was in danger. But if it was I would use anything at my disposal.
  10. If using a gun to defend your home and property and self is out of the question, what would be an acceptable means of defence given that the intruder may be bigger and stronger than you?
  11. http://www.couchsurfing.org/ Someone I used to work with actually did this. A free option.
  12. I think Carroll can be bought by WH at the end of the season if they don't get relegated. Something seriously wrong at Liverpool if they wouldn't fork out an extra ?2M to get Dempsey like Spurs did. This from the same club who recklessly spent ?35M on Carroll just because they got all that money for Torres. Don't be surprised to see Owen back there.
  13. My wife asked me who is playing. She has no interest in sport. When I queried this I was told it's because she is going to Australia. That is the end of this news bulletin.
  14. I think MM's comment is perhaps too subtle for you Carter, and others I'm sure. Not meant to be an insult at all.
  15. djsenior Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > When opening, TGE told local residents that the > license would remain the same Who exactly did they tell? I'm a local resident. They didn't tell me.
  16. Well that's like asking how many cloaks Batman has Nette. None of your business.
  17. What paperwork dg2? It's just a matter of knowing what can be done and how it can be done. I guess the most that's required is that the electrics are outside the room, so the cable goes through a wall or partition. The fact that what you are really talking about is a toilet and a basin.........well it's not much different to a kitchen where most people have their w/machines i.e in terms of water.
  18. At least a free drink. I'm a local resident but don't require a bridge. Are you djsenior?
  19. I've just had a ?20 note refused in a local shop as it is out of date. This is just one of many ?20 notes my wife gave me from her 'secret stash' to cover her trip to Australia (see above). I don't know if I should take them to a bank or a museum.
  20. To be able to sit outside and have a drink is not the norm in this country due to the climate. The problem from my experience is that some of those who do sit outside do not realise how much noise they are making, possibly due to having had too much to drink. Some people just can't handle their drink and behave immaturely. Plenty can and should be allowed the little pleasure that it is to sit outside when it borders on being a rare experience. Who says the TGE encourages outside drinking and the CPT did not? The CPT had tables outside too. I don't get your point James unless you are saying the TGE tells people to sit outside.
  21. That's ok Frank. Just don't keep doing it.
  22. Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Declan. It's a toilet. Keep up. How am I supposed to remain anonymous Mick when you keep calling me that?
  23. The what TT?
  24. It's confusing Mick. The thread title says 'Redoing bathroom' and it appears to be a toilet. Next time I need advice on repainting the bedroom I think I'll call it the West Wing.
