The See Woo in Greenwich is also good. I haven't been to Chinatown for many years now, I am sure it has changed a lot... Thank you ArtfulDogger. I will check them out. I love sticky rice, never tried to make it myself. I own a rice cooker I wonder if I can make it in that.... What other dishes have you made?

Hi, I have been thinking about selling my children's stuff at a nearly new sales. Anyone been to these before or had a stall at one? Just wondered how busy they are and would appreciate any advice about how to set up and pricing. I presume I need to bring my own table and lay things on that? Also, is November not a good time to have one or should I wait till after Christmas? Many thanks!

Hi everyone, Does anyone know or have used a Well Being Expert with a focus on families? I am the Lead for the Family Network at work and I am looking for a speaker. Many thanks!

I live in Peckham and it is ?60 per day (8am to 6pm) per child. Make sure you sign up to childcare vouchers or the other scheme that has launched.

Thank you Admin. This is really weird but my post titled 'Dolly Parton's Imagination Library' has been deleted. I had two replies this morning but when I clicked on the link to read the posts there was a message 'sorry, the message you have requested could not be found'. I went into my control centre and could see the posting was no longer in my 'followed thread' section. Can you please let me know why my post has been deleted. I was trying to spread the word about this great scheme that provides free books to children. Thanks.

Thank you flocker spotter. That is really helpful information. Sorry for the delay in replying. Admin moved my post to 'Family classified' before I realised and contacted them.

I started my first job aged 14 years old at McDonald's. Earning my own money was the best feeling in the world. Such a shame if young people have the desire to work but the opportunities are not there. Seems more and more jobs now and in the future are for the academically able.

Hi, Just wondering if your child worked part-time and if so, what job do they have? When I was young there was lots of low/entry level jobs, e.g. supermarket, retail, paper round etc. but with self-checkouts taking over everywhere I was wondering what do young people do now?

Hi Admin, I originally posted in 'Family Room Discussions' http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?25,1932752,1932752,quote=1#REPLY because I wanted to have a discussion about how does an au pair arrangement work in reality and wanted to hear from other families' experiences. My post has been moved to 'Family Room Classified', just wondering why it has been moved there as I am not advertising for an au pair? I doubt I am going to get many replies to my post now. Appreciate if you could clarify. Thanks.

Hi, I have two young children and work full-time so never feel I am on top of things. I've heard of an au pair, someone that helps you with your children and household in return for accommodation and food. I am wondering how does it work in reality and how much money do you typically need to give them for 'pocket money'. Also, how long do they generally stay with you? Many thanks!

Any coding classes for an eight year old?
LV0210 replied to EP212's topic in The Family Room Discussion
There is a coding club at Peckham Library that my daughter attends on Tuesdays from 4pm to 6pm and is free. Unfortunately, the project is coming to an end soon but if there is interest they may run more classes again. If the location and time is convenient please PM me with your contact details and I can keep you informed. -
They did my loft and I am really happy with their work. I've had a couple of snags post-completion and they have been dealt with them quickly and no problems in getting them to come back.

Hello everyone, Interested to hear your thoughts and experience about the Kumon for English. My child does Maths with them and that is going really well but would like to know if the programme works for improving their English. Aside from hiring a personal tutor, keen to hear about other alternatives to help my daughter with her reading and writing. Many thanks!

Hi, There is a free coding club at Peckham Library for 8 to 11 years old. It is a two x 6 weeks programme. Part one starts on the 13th February to 20th March 2018 from 4pm to 6pm. It is completely free. Your child must attend every session as they will be working on a project: "your child will code and program a digital storytelling animation to tell a story about travel and migration. They will also build and program Lego robots to use as characters within their story". You can drop off your kids and then pick them up afterwards.

Thanks for your all replies on this. PeckhamRye - I would be interested in seeing a demo and see type of meals it is capable of providing. Would anyone else like to come along. I presume it is a no-obligation demo?

Hi, I am looking for ways to make cooking for my family easier and came across the Thermomix. It is super expensive so keen to hear your views if you own one. Are there any other kitchen gadgets worth considering? Thanks!

Thank you for your replies. It has been really useful to hear your experience. I think I will wait for when she is a bit older and can go with a friend.

Hello, Just wondering if anyone has sent their child(ren) on a PGL activity week? I would be interested to know if your child enjoyed their stay there and which site did you send them to. I am thinking about sending my daughter when she is 7 years old but wondering whether this is too young. Thanks.

Thank you, I didn't know they did that.

Hello, In case anyone is interested. My 6 years old daughter goes to a youth theatre on Sunday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm held at the old library in Burgess Park. She is really enjoying it there so I wanted to let others know about it. The age range is 6-16 years old and costs ?5 per class and ?2.50 concessions rate. First session is free. Here is the website for more details: http://theatredelicatessen.co.uk/old-library/ note: it says 1pm to 3pm but they have recently changed the times.
