  1. My experience is that for most of my visits the food was good. It took a dip when the proprietor was away for an extended period and picked up again on his return. Foxy, you have observed that Jaflong's food has been very variable, yet you keep going back. One poor meal at Tandoori Nights and you condemn it. Tandoori nights is a little more expensive than others. For instance an Onion Bhaji at Tandoori Nights is 3.95, at Jaflong it is 2.85. That difference adds up over a meal, but not excessively. We will see how things are at the next curry club meeting.
  2. Please see Curry Club thread for my response.
  3. Blimey. There's a question. After 8 years of monthly curries, I think I can say that there is not an overall "best", it depends on your taste. You cant go far wrong with either Dulwich Tandoori or Surma. Jaflong doesn't serve alcohol for religious reasons, although you can BYOB, Veer Zara was historically not brilliant BUT of late is much improved. Tandoori Nights is very good although a little more expensive than the rest. Mirash is old school, a personal favourite and a little cheaper than the rest. Ganapati in Bellenden serves great South Indian food but is away from Lordship Lane. You pays your money and takes your choice.
  4. I warn you now. Keep that up and next time, they'll have your partners hand off.
  5. Meet at the EDT at 7ish and on to Tandoori Nights at 8ish. Second Thursday of the month this time!
  6. How about Tandoori Nights for the next one?
  7. Hundreds of them. Fly between Dulwich Woods, Goose Green and Peckham Rye Parks. Noisy little buggers.
  8. An eventful evening. Good company, good food (although it took some time for it to arrive), an ambulance .... My friends got back from A&E, all is well, a rapid loss of blood pressure caused by eating after a long period of not eating and historic issues with digestion. Thanks for the concern and particular thanks to Workusers friend for calling the ambulance. The Paramedics did a grand job. Where to next time?
  9. See everybody this evening. EDT - 7ish Veer Zara - 8ish
  10. Not with all that turmeric flying about. Has the smugness warn off yet?

  12. Alternatives would have been: President Thatcher President Blair I'll stick with the Windsors
  13. I have noticed that Costa are usually the first of the coffee chains to move into an area.
  14. Oops! Sorry, somewhat distracted by life! All welcome this Thursday. Meet at the EDT at 7ish and then on to Veer Zara at 8ish. XX

  16. Scandalous, another Curry Clubgate?
  17. Its official http://viz.co.uk/rogers-profanisaurus-scania-scotch/
  18. I am a little suspicious at the reaction of our elected representative. This is clearly the shutting of a Post Office and the decanting of some services into a supermarket that is not in the commercial centre of ED. It is being pitched as an enhancement. Which it isn't. So, what gives? Who is moving into the PO site?
  19. Seems odd that they need a crane to build a Helipad when they could use a Helicopter.
  20. If we were to ban everything that a few people find irritating then life would be a dull and awful thing. A very few people are terrified of fireworks and I feel sorry for them but more people are terrified of spiders and rats and nobody has proposed banning those. If you want to see firework insanity, go to Amsterdam on New Years Eve. Nieuwmarkt in particular. Dangerous, wonderful, bonkers fun. A square packed full of locals, tourists, the denizens of the RLD all letting off fireworks from their hands and great long bandoliers of fire-crackers around your feet. Berlin is similar but not quite as mad. We in the UK are very restrained.
  21. Thank you El Pibe. I was rather proud of that.
  22. What Foxy said. Having spent some years in organising an open and welcoming event, it is annoying to have people who have never and may never attend, post in a way which conveys a sense of clique and ownership that is simply not valid. It displays a lack of respect (which I think a thread/ event of 8 years has earned) and a sense of attention seeking, entitlement and ego that can be expressed elsewhere without causing offence.
