  1. Paper hats and other festive head-gear may be worn.
  2. Auchan for big hyper-market cheap wine and beer, plus better veg than you ever get in a UK supermarket. For lunch try the Hotel des Dunes in Bleriot Plage. Proper French restaurant, attracts few Brits but easy to find. Nausicaa in Boulogne is fun and bizarrely, The Welsh Pub in central Boulogne is a nice caf?, bar and restaurant serving French food, rather than the crap that is produced for Brit day trippers in many places.
  3. All welcome!! Please can people post here or pm me, if you haven't already. I need to update the Mirash tree numbers. Ta
  4. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What happened to Gingerbeer? Gingerbeer, posting from the USA, asking questions re living in ED and got roasted as being the latest iteration of a regular Forum Troll. She wasn't said Troll, she was a real person, who survived the abuse by those who should know better and lived in our midst for a year while she completed her Masters at Goldsmiths. She drank with us, became a fan of Leicester Tigers and was, and is, a jolly good egg. GB recently popped back for a vacation (as they say in those parts) and Help-Ma-Boab and I enjoyed beers and a curry with her. Some long serving and very regular Forumites were left somewhat shame-faced.
  5. Next Wednesday everybody! I have booked the downstairs room ...
  6. Mexico being? .....
  7. The Ginger Pig in Borough Market do fine back bacon, thick and meaty. Fantastic in a white roll with Brown sauce, Branston by personal preference. I have learned to love the North American approach of mixing crispy streaky with pancakes and maple syrup. You can get back bacon in those parts. In the USA it is known as "Canadian bacon". Go figure ..
  8. Just checked my PMs and the 3rd is good for many. Let's stick to thst. sorry Charlie! Maybe an informal gathering the week after?
  9. I wonder whether the next week will be even busier? what do people think?
  10. Perhaps the lap-dancing club that we all crave? Logical, given that every other facet of Shoreditch life has made its way here.
  11. Yes, but what date would you prefer Quids?
  12. Charlie/ Mick Mac - how is the 3rd for you?
  13. Do we need a different date? Our Christmas knees up is on the 2nd. I can do the 3rd or the 4th that week. It depends on how many other people can or cannot do 4/12.
  14. Merry Christmas!! :) Our festive Curry Club meet will be at The Mirash on Thursday 4 December 2014. Meet in the EDT at 7ish for festive sharpeners and probably retire somewhere afterwards for digestifs.
  15. Well, that was fun! 9 of us in the end. I enjoyed by Chicken Tikka Sag greatly. Nice to pop into the Bishop afterwards too. Next meal is the Christmas meal. First Thursday of December, probably The Mirash.
  16. It's getting better and better!!
  17. This Thursday everybody!! Meet in the EDT at 7.15ish.
  18. Floating Onion and I popped into Curry Cabin over the weekend. Very nice old school curry. As it happens.
  19. I think they suffered from being busy. The service was very friendly but slow. My butter chicken was nice but could have been a bit spicier. Next meet on Thursday 6 November at the Surma.
  20. I have completed it, supporting the Walworth Road route and Lewisham link. My rationale is that we are unlikely to get two routes and a push for that would just extend the time taken to make a decision (but see my comments about the OKR tram option below) Walworth Rd is more congested than OKR, needs investment and has a large existing population that would make use of the service to access jobs in central London. Peckham is a transport hub and linking the Bakerloo line to the Overground and National Rail services further South makes sense in reducing congestion at the main stations in Town. Camberwell needs a fixed rail transport link for its economic and social development. The Lewisham link would allow the tram network to be more robustly linked to the rest of the TfL network such as the DLR and other rail systems. There was a request for other ideas and I suggested that the Camden - Peckham tram line be revisited. Trams are cheaper to install than underground lines, it would serve the OKR and would further add to the Peckham transport hub using existing roads and land. The tram could effectively replace some bus routes and use park land without detracting from the sport and leisure usage.
  21. This place ( http://www.halvemaan.be/nl/home ) is also a must. Interesting and fun brewery tour, free beer tasting, retail opportunity at the end. I find that the Lonely Planet guidebooks are good for restaurant, bar and caf? recommendations and self guided walking tours. However, central Bruge is small, so wandering around is easy. Chocolate shops in their hundreds, great for Christmas presents. I love the place.
