  1. Thanks for your replies! We're still struggling - argh! I'm trying to keep him busy and get him back into his routine. But hes waking at 4 or 5 with no chance of going back to sleep and he seems to have lost all his good sleeping habits - he's not able to go to sleep in his cot during the day, he cant self settle and I cant settle him with any of the normal tricks. Any other tips? I'm guessing its just perseverance...
  2. Having just returned from NZ we're really struggling with Baby's (10 months) jetlag. Arriving in NZ he recovered pretty quickly, but here it's been tough and feels like its getting worse not better (though that maybe because I'm also suffering, by being wide awake when he's asleep)... He's waking up at 3 or 4 wide awake ready to play, not napping well during the day - either really short or really long (usually in the afternoon when his body thinks its night time). Not sure if I should be waking him from long naps - if so when? Or how to respond when he wakes up in the night - little snack, full bottle? Today he had 45 mins sleep between 4am and 2pm and I had to drive around for him to go to sleep this afternoon. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Another happy customer. Gary came round very very quickly and got our electricity back on, explained why it'd gone off and suggested someone who could fix the source of the problem (and his recommendation was backed up by loads of EDF recommendations). Was prompt, friendly and reasonably priced. Would use again and would recommend
  4. Another great review for these guys....they're now our plumbers of choice! I called them on Sunday evening with a burst pipe gushing water between the floors in our house. They came straight around and fixed the problem quickly. They were friendly and efficient and their charges were really reasonable. Totally recommend them.
  5. Thanks for the tips and advice. We went to the Children's Osteo clinic in Wandsworth and they were great, I wish I'd been sooner. That along with using some of the other suggestions, means feeding and winding is no longer a battle. Thank goodness! Completely recommend the Childrens Osteo clinic for others in a similar situation. http://occ.uk.com/
  6. You should call SELDOC if its not an emergency but you need out of hours medical advice. 0208 693 9066 http://www.seldoc.co.uk/. They take details and have a GP call you back within an hour. I've found them to be useful for me, but haven't had experience using them for little ones. Hope he recovers quickly.
  7. My baby is 4 months old and has really bad wind. He's always suffered with it, but we got by okay until recently. It's got worse over the last couple of weeks - he's hungry and stressed, but often in too much pain to feed and my tricks don't seem to be working any more. Any old wives tales you know of, or bizarre discoveries from your own experience that you can suggest?
  8. I'm at DMC on Crystal Palace Road too. The medical staff have always been great, but its so difficult to get an appointment and the management/admin is lacking resulting in repeated frustration....
  9. My little one is 4 months old and becoming more reliant on his dummy for sleeping, so I'm looking for advice on weaning him off it. I'm not in a huge hurry, but I don't want him using it for ages and I want to minimise the drama when it does come time to wean him off it. So wise parents, what advice do you have? And what age is best? We started using it for the occasional nap, but it's now used at every nap (the easy option I suppose). He doesn't need it when he goes to sleep at night, or after his dream feed. With the dummy he settles easily if we get the timing of his naps right, though he does cry as soon as he goes into his cot, just before he gets his dummy. I've tried halfheartedly to put him down without it but always give in, which I know isn't helping. He just cries and gets worked up to a scream. So I need a plan....
  10. Has anyone been to this or any other events for kiwis? I'm keen for my son to have some kiwi influence in his life - otherwise he'll be the 'posh' boy with no clue if we end up moving back that way.
  11. I'm keen to take Max swimming, well really his dad is extremely impatient to, but have no idea where to go around here? Where do you suggest? And do we need any special gear! Thanks I hope the spotty boys are doing okay Nikki!
  12. We've done the Peckham baby cinema and highly recommend it. Hopefully Max will let me see the end next time rather than demanding a nappy change. A couple of tips - you have to leave your buggy just outside the theatre so best not to turn up with the bottom tray loaded with stuff. And it didn't sound like the volume was turned down much, so don't make your first visit a loud action film. Lucy, I'm the same with not hearing back about Power Pramming. I think I'll turn up and take my chances. No back scooting here - sounds v cute. Jo
  13. Count me in on the 11th. God luck with Dexter Jane. More wine should help - you if not him.
  14. Hi all It was great to see so many lovely mummies, babies and bumps on Tuesday. I really enjoyed it and I'm keen to do it again. So feel free to come along to the Gardens (on Peckham Rye, near the Barry Rd intersection) on Tuesday between 10.30ish and 12.30ish. I've booked the back room so we don't take over the whole cafe! They did say that all the buggies were a bit of fire hazard, so asked if we could leave the buggies with no babies in outside. Not so easy, but if you can... See you there, Jo
  15. Hi all I'm planning on coming to the Gardens tomorrow too. Little Max, yes another boy Spring Baby, was born last weekend after a loooong labour and we're now starting to get out and about. Emmy, the Gardens is On Peckham Rye, just near the Barry Road intersection. We were there yesterday and it's really spacious inside and out, so i think your buggy would be just fine. Jo
  16. Congrats to all the new mummies - great to hear your stories. Good luck to those on the edge too! Mia, welcome to ED. Do come along tomorrow, there's always room at Franklins. I'm not sure I'll make it tomorrow as this little monkey is playing "I'm coming - oh maybe not" games at the moment. Jo
  17. Hi Vanessa I'm in for Saturday too please. Assuming my baby doesn't arrive on it's due date that is! I figure if I make plans, I might tempt fate and hurry it along - otherwise I'll have a nice morning! See you all there, Jo
  18. Hi. I'm keen for the 18th, so count me in and I'll see you there. A bumps and boys night sounds good too - I vote for the Wednesday night though, as a few of us will be at our NCT group on the Monday night. Thx, Jo
  19. Hi Tess Check out the 'Spring babies' or 'Summer Babies' group, depending on when you're due. I met 25 mums to be for breakfast last week through the Spring babies group - highly recommended. Jo
  20. Thanks for organising breakfast on Sunday Emma - see you there.
  21. Hi all I'm with the NCT starting on the 20th too, see you all there! Next weekend suits me for a breakfast, so count me in. Thanks for the tip about the hospital tour Emma, much appreciated. Jo
