Read this article about sleep...
ludoscotts replied to Fuschia's topic in The Family Room Discussion
while the topic of sleep is running I wanted to ask about the phrase sleeping through. What does that mean to everyone else? my 2 yr old was a fantastic sleeper form the word go and very soon got herself into a routine of feed before bed, feed at around midnight then she would wake at around 6.30-7am for a feed and go back to sleep until 8.30am. I asked the health visitor when she was around 1 when would she sleep through? and the hv replied that she was sleeping through. She said if she was sleeping for a stretch of 5 hours or more in a go then that was sleeping through-is that what you guys think? she now at just over 2 goes to sleep at 8.30 and then still does wake at times(not every night maybe 2 times a week) for a bottle or juice at around 12am-1am(which is fine as I work from home until about 1am so she is not disturbing my sleep) and then she stirs at anytime from 5am-7am for more juice or milk then back down till 8.20-9am. Should she have grown out of this my now? should I refuse feeds presuming she is just in a habit of waking or is she hungry/thirsty? I know she does wake at other times in the night as we hear her talking to teddy sometimes and then she goes back to sleep so its not a settling issue as she def settles herself. Im not too worried as Its not a bad routine but just wondered if it was normal. thanks for reading leanne -

im sorry but how would going down the vigilante route work? surely the muggers are preying on individuals on their own who look vunerable, they are not going to mug a 50 strong group of hot heads out to get revenge. What would you do? accost any teenager who fits the bill on the off chance that they are actually the mugger? I dont understand how the police would have problems catching them, the muggings were taking place late at night in the Barry road area at weekends. Surely they would just need to have a policeman walking around in the area and when they get approached arrest the git who has been this, but then there has been no more reports of muggings for a few weeks now so maybe they have caught them?

wanted: intelligent single man for date with my friend
ludoscotts replied to Tanza's topic in The Lounge
hi I have a friend that is in search for a lady friend. He is lovely although slightly excentric!he is late 30's he works in theatre, well read, not overweight but not slim. Tall, dark hair, incredible sweet and interesting and would love to meet a lady. As he works in theatre its hard to meet people due to the hours he works so is still single. if your friend would like to meet someone who is lovely but quirky send me a pm. -
hi I would def reccommend nipple guards. one of my breasts was fine while the other I would literally be sat there feeding and crying with the pain! there was nothing wrong with my position or the babys latching on just one of them was cracked and like you kept opening up at each feed no matter how much cream I put on. I very nearly gave up as it was distressing me so much much a friend arrives with nipple shields and I was instantly relieved. It turned out one of my nipples wasnt pulling into the right postition for feeding and the nipple guards helped form the right lenghth and shape needed for feeding. I used these for about a week then I was healed enough to feed without. I then used the opportunity to introduce 1 bottle a day as she had got used to feeding with and without the shields and it worked perfectly she was taking bottle and breast from 3 weeks old with no confusion. Think it helped that while she was feeding from me with the shields she was still getting the closeness and smell from me etc yet feeding from plastic nipple so she adapted fine to the bottle after this. worth getting some and give them a try the link for them is below. nipple shields

woman asking for money door to door
ludoscotts replied to Cam123's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
hi yes I had her knock at my door last year same story, promised she would return the money when her hubby came home from work. I didnt believe her really but little nagging doubt in the back of my mind thought what If I was in that situation etc, etc and I was heavily pregnant which she played on. I didnt really want to say no as I thought if it did turn nasty Im in no position to defend myself and she knew I was in the house on my own. Wont ever fall for it again though! ive put it down to experience. -
Concrete House Lordship Lane - Public Inquiry
ludoscotts replied to Zak's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I think the concrete house is fascinating and should be restored & for the person who was asking for more info on it ive got a book about London and in that it says it was once a childrens home run by a lady called "aunt Leana" nice to think it was once a lovely place with children running about. -
hi snowboarder the thats not my..... range by fiona watt is great for little ones of that age as they are really touchy feely and my little one loved them at that age also the busy book range i.e busy book at the beach, busy book at the park etc lots of bits to turn and pull instead of just lifting the flaps great for about 12-18 months old.

well done bunny-thats fab glad to hear one of the gits has at least been bitten! could you let us know what the police have to say please? would be good to know if they are taking this seriously/what they are planning on doing about it. Very worried as my hubby comes home form work at around that time of night every day. Not nice having to worry every night until I hear his key in the lock.

hi please report it, you are the 4th mugging that I have heard of this week for their phone- there seems to be a big issue in the area now.
-
the first one in the park I cant remember what the guy said but post was on here somewhere. The man that is getting married tomorrow was on his way home I got the impression it was 8-9ish, the girl that got attacked was late about midnight I think. From what I was told they basically punched the man and snatched his phone.

Locking this thread now as there are other ones about specific incidents - The Administrator hi just a little note to say please be careful at night on Lordship Lane. In the past week I have heard of 3 people being mugged for their phones. Someone posted on here about being mugged in the park near Sainsburys. I had a lady pick up her wedding dress on wed and her fiance had been mugged on Mon night for his phone(bless him he was punched in the face and the wedding is tomorrow- so fingers crossed the bruising and swelling has gone down for their big day) and Last night a friend said he had given another friend a lift to Dulwich quite late at night and after she had got out of the car she was mugged for her phone near the plough. Just a bit worrying that 3 has happened that I have heard of so if you are out and about late at night please be careful as there is obviously a spate of muggings in the area at the minute.

Play pen or baby chair higher than floor level
ludoscotts replied to bumpy's topic in The Family Room Discussion
hi we have concrete floors and found we had the same problem I bought a cheap single duvet and put that down doubled over and put a cheap fleece blanket on top so I could wash it easily. It worked fine she was always warm enough and it was padded enough so that if she toppled over she didnt bang her head on the floor -
Breast Milk STINKS...............apparently
ludoscotts replied to FatherJack's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Im sorry to add fuel to the fire but this thread has made me so mad- and I still dont know what side im supporting-one min I feel sorry for the mother and the next the manager. I do feel however that when It comes down to it it is a charity shop so by not donating and boycotting it you would be harming the people that benefit from the shop. Its not the people who get help through the charities fault so dont stop shopping there and harming a good charity. surely the main issue should be the manager peeping into the cubicle. I have tried clothes on in there myself and Im disgusted to think that I may have been spied on. Manager or not he has no right to look in while someone is changing. This should be something that the head office should deal with(and are looking in to it)-the conduct of a member of their staff is something they should sort-going down on mass will do nothing to help. and daizie have you been reading the thread- "Well I am, I dont like looking at large exposed nipples . Do it discretely or go home " that's the whole point she was in a private cubicle with the curtain shut how more discretely could she have fed her baby. Im sure from that comment that you dont have children. I myself used to get a bit uncomfortable at seeing breastfeeding mothers but it is their right to do it and its just cruel to leave them crying and hungry where this can be dealt with quickly and discretly leaving the mother not stressed and the baby calmer. Id be interested to know how you feel when you have had children. I love the fact that people can ignore men peeing in doorways, Teenagers playing their music on busses, people smoking on busses and trains, people vomiting on busses yet people have no problem complaining about the most natural act in the world-feeding a baby. see-I still cant make up my mind argued both sides!! -
advice from parents whose babies sleep well......
ludoscotts replied to paps's topic in The Family Room Discussion
hi our little one thankfully has always slept well and I think its because we let he sleep when she liked. We are in an unsual situation that my husband works from 10am till 11pm or 2pm till 11pm so we were never overly stressed about her going to sleep at night. when she was really little she fell in to a routine herself of feeding 3pm,6pm,9pm,12am .....etc because of this it worked out well that she was actually still awake at 11.30 when my husband came in from work and he would give her an expressed bottle(from about 3 weeks old we did this)and she would sleep really well and seemed to settle for a long stretch at this point until about 6/7am. I would give her another feed and she would go back to sleep until 8/9am. She gradually brought her bad time forward herself falling asleep earlier and earlier until prob by around 6 months old she was in a routine of going to sleep at 8.30pm she would wake for a feed at midnight(or I would do dream feed) and then she would wake at 6/7am then go back down till 8.30am. we had the odd burst when she was teething/growth sprut where she would wake for more milk/calpol etc but generally she has been an excellent sleeper. I really think its because we have never enforced it on her and she found her own routine. apart from illness/teething we never had the walking up and down at night trying to get baby back to sleep etc. She would always just go back in and settle. the downside to her sleeping so well is that she didnt nap for as long in the day but I was fine with that as I was getting unbroken sleep at night. she would generally sleep for 1 or 2 naps of 20-40 mins. so not long but enough time to have a cuppa or watch something on the iplayer!and like I said when I was getting a decent nights sleep it didnt matter. When she started walking there was an increse in her naps and she switched to 1 nap of 1-1.5 hrs which was lovely . she is now 2yrs old and goes up for a bath at 7.45 and Im back downstairs by about 8.10 and normally if I go back up 10mins later she is asleep and she still sleeps through till around 5.30-6am then wakes she normally asks for some juice at that point rather than milk now but then she goes back to sleep. We have her sleep clock set for 8.30 and she knows that she dosent get up till it changes but its very rare that she gets up at this point its normally 9-9.15am that she shouts for us. We are very lucky(however she hasnt napped since sept and has added the nap time on to her sleep in the night. as soon as she stopped napping she was sleeping for an hour longer!) but it suits us. It means hubby gets a lie in and I work in the evenings after she has gone to bed so I dont go to bed until 1am so I can see hubby for an hour or so when he gets in (or work till then to meet a deadline!) it suits us for now. It will have to change when she starts nursery/school but for now im enjoying the lie ins. -
wont be the same I know but how about just putting a photograph on to the cake then piping some icing around the edges to cover the join. Will look good for photos and the blowing out of the candles moment then before you cut the cake just lift it off.

Toddler back pack lead or wrist lead?
ludoscotts replied to damzel's topic in The Family Room Discussion
we had a wrist link and our little houdini managed to undo it(she also mastered opening the stair gate at 10 months old so I shouldnt have been surprised!) but she has never got free from her reins and walks quite happily with them on. -

What to do about all the dog pooh in Dulwich?
ludoscotts replied to TonyQuinn's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
we have noticed a huge increase on overhill road recently and I know it will also be careless dog walkers and foxes but I saw a young female dog walker go up our street the other day. she had about 6 dogs with her and one of them did foul the pavement, she stopped and was looking at it whilst I went into the shop, when I came out the poo was still there and no sign of the walker. Have been wondering if she was a new dog walker who uses our street regularly and dosent ever clear up after the dogs she walks. it would explain the sudden increase on our street. I will however be using the link and start to report it now I know the procedure, thanks for that.
