  1. thats lovely will there be anything else happening at the end of it? stalls/fair type thing?
  2. hi E went into a big bed at 20 months purely because we are in a rented house and she has always had a single bed in her room as well as her cot. She led the way as we used to do bottle and stories in bed then lift her into the cot-she eventually stopped wanting to go in the cot and wanted to stay in the bed. we wouldnt have thought of doing it so soon if she hadnt pushed it herself. Maybe you could use a quilt in the cot to get used to bedding instead of sleeping bag and do stories with you little one in a bed seemed to work with E. We too put a gate on her room door as It was far too exciting being able to come out her room as she wanted. she generally gets out of bed once as soon as we leave the room, We just go in put her back in bed with no eye contact and dont speak to her so not to turn it into a game and she settles down and goes straight off. basically whatever time is right for you and your little one is the best time to do it.
  3. the library end of lordship lane seems to have been terrible lately, always used to be sooooooo clean but lately its everywhere, was wondering if change in weather and instead of going to the park the inconsiderate dogs owners that are not clearing up after their animals are just letting them do it on the way to the shops etc.
  4. hi put some books under the head end of the cot or a towel or pillow under the matress at the head end and this will help with the congestion. generally means baby is snotty mess by morning but def helps with their breathing if they are not lying flat. also try some olbas oil in a bowl of hot water under the cot to steam up that can help too. hope you both get on the mend soon.
  5. hi yes we have had bank statements, cheque books, parcels and who knows what else not delivered. We are on overhill road, We were getting the tv guide on subscription but have cancelled after we didnt have one delivered in time to use it for a month! We have complained many times and notthing has been done about it. We did get sent a free book of stamps when my husband said he was going to the police as it looked like the postman was stealing our post with it being mainly bank related things going missing. We didnt go to the police and it did get better for a while after that postman left/was moved routes. we are always getting post for ladlands which is the huge block of flats further up this street. it is always the flat with the same no as ours but is is a different postcode so this shouldnt happen. we always either hand mis delivered post back to the postman the next day or put it back in the post box. the best one was we recieved a card for someone on dunstans road the other day, the post date was for 3 weeks earlier so had been stuck in the system for a while, I gave it back to the postman the next day, 4 days later the same card came back through our door-unbelievable that they could get it that wrong twice! waiting to see if it turns up again. we have also had parcels thrown over the fence from the flats next door rather than putting a card through, some have been fine, one i found in my garden a soggy mess-guess the foxes in my garden had been playing with it, and one was a dvd and the plastic case smashed to pieces.
  6. I know the focus is on you really but pack some extra food for hubby, you will be fed after the birth but dads are not so if you have a long labour you will either have a grumpy hungry man standing there or worse have him nipping off for food!-luckily I knew this and had some with us my friends husband wanted to go for food but wasnt allowed so was famished by the time her little one popped out. its worth writing down phone numbers of the people you want to call after the birth-depends who you have in with you when baby arrives as to wether you can use the phone or not so might be worth having no's written down so hubby can run to pay phone(you will be told off for turning them on in hosp to get no;s out of it as it still sends out signals even when they are not being used for a call) and some change for the pay phone- you know he wont have change! camera and spare batteries. it may be a few days before you get out so you should have one in your bag so you can get a newborn pic. and talk hubby through bag as to where everything is. Or use a bag with 2 sections 1 for baby and 1 for you. I didnt show hubby where and what everything was so he kept dumping everything out them stuffing it all back in! he will prob be the one that will have to find the nappies, clothes etc for baby while they are sorting you out/ you are having bath or shower. and show him what are the indoor and out door clothes are. No kidding a friend of mine had a baby 12 weeks ago she had to go off to surgery to have the placenta removed the nurse asked the hubby to get the baby dressed. She came back to find baby in its going home clothes hat, coat and mittens etc- she was staying in overnight so should just have been in sleepsuit, and when she commented on it he said how was I supposed to know its all white! hope it all goes well for you,
  7. hi ive only found them on ebay but it is an ebay shop so all products are brand new. they are selling them for ?10 a strip or another was selling them 4 for ?29 so not too bad. just one of those things that would be good to know how good before you buy. I thought they looked good too, might try them anyway, will let you know if I do, leanne
  8. hi has anyone tried these? what are they like? we have a tomy bed guard for at home which works really well but we are looking for something a bit more portable for going away from home. We have no car so always travel by public transport and train so taking the tomy one isnt an option. We found one on the internet that is foam pieces that you put under the sheet and it stops them rolling out. Has anyone tried them? they look great and lightweight but always good to get other peoples opinions. Also has anyone had them and about to get rid of them would buy them off you if you think they were good. thanks leanne
  9. hi I was made redundant whilst on mat leave 2 years ago now. What did you want to know. I didnt have to use a lawyer etc but was paid what I was due- eventually!!! but did get all of my money. let me know if there is anything you want to ask, so sorry you might have to go through this too, leanne
  10. hi my little one has never napped for long but she is now 22 months old and her nap has gone for good. she started dropping it around 2 months ago and now it has def gone. the only good thing about it is that she is sleeping later in the morning now. we had a week or 2 of her being grumpy in the afternoons but no matter what we tried(moving lunch, going out in buggy, later to bed, earlier up in the morning etc) she just wouldnt sleep and then stopped going in to her cot just for a rest. but after an adjustment time she is now sleeping later in the mornings so im getting more rest before starting the day so dosent feel so bad now. hopefully if yours has dropped naps for good once they adjust they will make up the time at the start or end of the day too.
  11. hi I started off with a baby bjorn but then moved on to an angel pack lx. Ive got a really bad back so found the fabric wrap type to still be too much pressure on my back and shoulders but found the angel pack great as all the weight goes on your hips and you could put them your hips, back and front well worth looking at. I got mine from a website called slingjaks which have lots of good pics of all the different types.
  12. hi no I didnt because when I went in he had wandered away and when I saw him when I came out the office staff also came out as they were expecting a delivery so were all standing out on the street so I thought if he was dodgy that would put him off enough and I didnt see him until I was already walking away. wasnt until I got home and remembered this posting that i thought to see if there was a description.
  13. thanks for that thats brilliant, will try and get down to see him at some point. I bought it at a market as there was just something about it I didnt want to leave it there in amongst old books etc, wanted to know for ages more about them. thanks for the info.
  14. hi few years back i bought an old photo album/scrapbook with the london village players written on the front. Its old theatre photographs and programmes but ive not been able to find out anything about them, where they were based etc. is there any historians that might know more about them. just very curious.
  15. our postie always leaves our parcels on the doorstep even though we have asked him not to. and we went away a few weeks ago and expected a parcel to be sat there. it wasnt, i spotted it a week later in the bushes soggy and knackerd from the rain. guess a fox or animal played with it and took it off doorstep. would rather have to go and collect it than this happen.
  16. hi what did he look like? I went to put my daughter on list for nursery there today and there was a man just standing on street corner looking into playground(was mid morning so not like he was waiting to pick a child up) and he was just acting odd. when he saw me looking at him he walked away but when I came out 40mins later he was back and just standing there.
  17. hi we are going throught the same thing at the moment, we have put a stairgate on her bedroom door so she cant get into bathroom without us hearing and put water everywhere again! and did the put back to bed without saying anything thing and it worked fingers crossed it will work again tonight!
  18. I think good luck to you linzkg, the waiting lists are ridiculous, you asked a simple question and got jumped on with a stupid response. I hope you manage to find a suitable property.
  19. thank you for that big big help, will start filling out forms!!!
  20. hi can anyone give me advice im totally confused anout the whole nursery school thing. ive tried looking online but it hasnt helped. what age do they start nursery? ive been told 3 but my little one was born nov 25th so would she have to wait until she was almost 4 to start? can they enroll into any school or do I have to put her down for loads of different ones? if they dont get into a school nursery would I have to pay to go to a private nursery? any advice would be apreciated leanne
  21. hi im so sorry that you have had such a bad first week but on the bright side at least with getting the infection your stitches are being checked and they will see if things are ok for you. I unfortunatley was sewn up too much, at my docs appointment for the 6?8? week check up-(cant remember when it was now) they didnt check my stitches I was just asked is everything ok? I told them that I was still a bit tender and she said it was normal. Since the birth of my daughter we have hardly been able to have intercourse as I hurts me too much(tends to be when ive had enough alcohol to make me think its a good idea-so not often!!!) the 1st doctor I saw gave me some cream to rub on the area 20mins before hand to numb the area and told me when I have another baby it would be sorted out. not likely when we cant have sex to be able to concieve another and hardly romantic having to pop off 20mins before to numb everything down. I kept on at the doctors and im now booked in for a small op next week to correct everything. (22months after having my daughter!) this is apparently very common as its such a hard area to fix so if any of you have stitches get them checked at your check-up and if you are getting any pain 8-10 weeks after birth them start questioning if everything is ok. Im very lucky in that my hubby has been very pacient and understanding but I could see going this long without being intimate could put a huge strain on some relationships. I hope you start to feel better soon heidi and if you fancy a coffee with other mums when you are back on your feet some of us meet on a mon or fri, leanne
  22. thanks for that good to know, I tried the peckham store last week and couldnt get anything in her size except leather or flashing trainers and I dont want to go down that road until she is asking for them. I got them there in the past and have found bargains- thats the annoying things at this point dont care how much they cost just looking for anything that would be suitable for the beach- seems silly to buy her leather ones that will get trashed! off to dulwich village after lunch and will see if they have anything. thanks everyone
  23. hi we got a chicco london stroller which compared to my silver cross was stupidly light. its really srurdy has a really good recline for when they sleep and a good sized cozytoes was on the tjhughes website for ?49.00 recently bargain for a new one.
  24. sorry that you all probs too but glad its not just me. they really are pushy, good thing I can give as good as I can get as I got my money back(hubby is a pushover and would prob have apologised to them and left!) thanks for tips going away sun so prob not enough time for ebay and to order online but will think about if for future. will try dulwich village tomorrow thank you
  25. hi just a thought about the shoe shop on lordship lane. Sorry being rubbish today so cant remember its name but there is only one on lordship lane, we went in there sat and had our toddler fitted for a pair of shoes. she has always been a g fitting but the assistant said she was a 5.5/6 f depending on shoe style. She then put her into a pair of shoes and said do you want to leave her in these as her old ones are too small. I agreed and we left. I should have gone with my instinct and insisted that she be rechecked on the width but I had said are you sure they are ok and she said yes the fit fine. ten mins later our toddler who normally wants to walk everywhere was asking to be carried. she was then saying ouch and pointing to her feet. when I took her shoes off she had bright red lines on her feet where they had been digging in. Clearly too tight. I put them back on her yesterday and took her into the shop. I asked them to recheck them for me, The assistant(a different one) said they were fine on lenghth but too small on the width, I said I wanted an exchange or refund and I was told no as they had been in the sale. I did stand my ground and argue that I hadnt picked the size and purchased them and that she had been fitted into them therefor I wansnt leaving until I got my money back. They did eventually give my money back(they didnt have any larger sizes) but just wanted to make people aware we really should trust that mothers instinct and not trust people who may be working on commission! and now some advice- where can I buy some lightweight canvas shoes in the nearby area? I wanted soem doodles as Im going away next week and wanted something for the beach not leather shoes or trainers which everyone seems to have in stock now. Ive tried peckham and lordship lane where else could I try. thanks leanne
