  1. Are there any shops that still sell electronics components, especially in ED or the surrounding area? Want to get some single LED lights that I can put into a basic circuit and maybe some other bits and bobs but no idea where to go. I know I can get them online but would ideally like to pick some up today. Thanks!
  2. I believe that anywhere that accepts carrier bags will also accept plastic mailing envelopes too.
  3. Absolutely loads! Got through an entire bucket of sweets and toys and then shut up shop just before 8 when I assumed they would be done. There always are a lot but they quite rightly won't knock unless you have a pumpkin or other clear decorations out.
  4. Has anyone had any success tracking down missing parcels? I'm waiting for one posted on the 12th that should have been here two weeks ago and wondering if there is any point going to the sorting office to try to trace it. Thanks!
  5. Was just thinking today how well my two cycling jackets from Mountain Warehouse have worn. Got a pink lightweight one and a yellow heavier duty waterproof one a few years ago and they are both still perfectly fine and have held up well in bad weather etc, especially considering how much cheaper they are than other jackets out there. My old Altura night vision was decent but eventually the lining disintegrated.
  6. Has anyone else found that the missed delivery text messages are still directing you to collect from "East Dulwich Delivery Office"?
  7. Letter from Helen Hayes to Royal Mail via twitter
  8. I really hope it is foxes after all. SNARL still seem adamant that there is human involvement, I wish they would be clearer about why. But I do think they were well intentioned either way and must have had some cause to believe what they were saying at the time, seems like some of this is new evidence from re-examining bodies.
  9. Me! I wrote to them, and came to the protest, and I was shocked as well at how few people were there. But Helen Hayes did say at the time that she'd had a big response to the survey she sent out so felt she had sufficient evidence of local feeling being against the closure, which turned out to mean nothing to Royal Mail anyway. Massive respect to Helen Hayes for her efforts though. It's still very frustrating.
  10. From SNARL's fb page (for information, no personal knowledge of this myself, but it does seem odd that not just SNARL but the police and the vet forensic pathologist would be so certain this was human action if there was nothing to it). South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty - SNARL shared a post. 8 hrs ? I'm resharing this one after the Guardian article published today South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty - SNARL 18 July at 21:34 ? Statement regarding New Scientist article by Professor Stephen Harris We have been made aware of an article published last week in the New Scientist magazine, by a behaviourist, Professor Harris. Without wishing to cast aspersions on that publication's journalistic integrity, it is unfortunate that they didn't speak to us before going ahead and printing it. It might have saved a few red faces. Anyway, the operation that Stephen Harris refers to was Operation Obelisk which indeed ran at the end of 1999. His view on the issue was taken as gospel and the investigation was closed. He is not and was not a forensic pathologist. I can't comment on why he was asked to look at bodies. Whilst it's true that Professor Harris tried to put a stop to Operation Takahe in the early days, it is also true that he refused to meet with the investigation team and the pathologist when it was clear that the killings were not the result of fox predation and due to his perceived eminence, they felt they should at least pay him some respect by explaining their findings. He is not and never has been, as has been claimed on some groups on social media, part of the forensic team investigating these incidents. Finally, what wasn't documented in 1999 were the behavioural aspects of this case. However clever foxes are, they are, as far as we are aware, unable to: - enter a hutch with closed slide bolts, killing and decapitating a rabbit, putting the body back in the hutch afterwards, arranging the body as if he or she was asleep and sliding the bolt back afterwards and leaving no blood anywhere. - killing an animal, leaving a trail of fur leading to where they've placed an internal organ, in an elevated position in another place in the garden, and the next night replacing that organ with a collar. - killing an animal, removing two leg bones via neat little incisions, stripping them cleanly and entirely with no bite marks, returning to place them upright at the scene a couple of days later (as shown on the documentary). - killing animals on clearly defined journeys in and out of South London. If these incidents were all down to foxes, we would have reports from all over, not just in places off main roads which we are able to map. Foxes just are not that clever. There are plenty of other pieces of documented behaviour which we can't disclose but they and all of the above are a matter of investigative and most importantly, police record. Which is why, despite Professor Harris's efforts, we and police have continued with the investigation for two and a half years. We hope this clarifies things and puts paid to some of the sillier speculation going out there. Boudicca and Tony.
  11. Dulwich park has a very pleasant circuit, and you can combine it with a ride to and around Brockwell Park to extend it. There is also a fairly quiet route from here to Ladywell, where you can join the Waterlink Way to Norwood Country Park. If you want a good hill, College Road through the village up to Crystal Palace is popular with cyclists and fairly scenic. And there are lots of quiet routes into town, including via the old Surrey Canal Route and Burgess Park that I or others can advise on if you want something more specific. I find that Citymapper has pretty decent cycle routes, can choose between quiet routes and faster ones.
  12. Ah, if by short you mean height, I did say it was about 170cm tall! 40cm is the depth although having measured is actually 50cm, so it is quite flat, designed to run along a wall rather than stick out from it. At 150cm wide I'm not sure it's big enough to be a bike shed? Maybe I'll try just taking the bottom out and seeing if can be used that way.
  13. After some advice from handy DIYers. I have an old shed, it's an unusual size, say 40cm x 150cm, and about 170cm tall. It could be a handy size for a small garden. However, it's bigger than I need, so I've been clearing it out to pass it on, but in doing so have found that the floor is rotten, as are the bottom two planks. Is it salvageable? I hate to throw something out if so - the rest of the structure seems fairly sound although it needs a few smaller repairs. Anyone fancy a shed DIY project?? Or should I just give up, smash it up and take it to the tip? Next question then - anyone planning a trip to the tip soon who wouldn't mind taking some extra stuff along, possibly a shed?
  14. How horrible, hope you heal soon. A thought: a lot of black Prius' are Uber drivers, that might be a avenue to try?
  15. I suspect this may refer to the attack a couple of years ago in Silvester Road rather than anything very recent but could be wrong. Whoever it is is still apparently active though, according to SNARL fb posts etc so the advice stands.
  16. I'm wondering if they are the B12 burger https://movingmountainsfoods.com/the-b12-veggie-burger/ but it's not listed as an official location.
  17. Found a Picturehouse membership card on Crystal Palace Road today, in the middle of the road. Handed it in to the cinema so if you think it's yours, do get in touch with them.
  18. Echoing the sentiments above, was sad to see this news today. Thank you for your hard work on behalf of East Dulwich, it was always reassuring to know that you were here and being so responsive.
  19. Oh! What happened to the kebabs and not mac and cheese? Was gonna try those tonight :(
  20. I had a burger too today, so good, very meaty! The cheese is way way better than any I've had at a vegan place before, seriously impressed. Good churros too. This place may be my downfall.
  21. Try the Non Dairy Evolution Cookbook for cheeses. I've yet to get properly into it but tried the mayo which was very good and apparently the cheeses are pretty convincing, much better than the supermarket ones. There are a fair few vegan cheese sellers out there, e.g. http://www.lettices.com/ and some fancy but pricey looking ones in Planet Organic, for example. Alas I tried to order a deliciously fatty and unhealthy junk/fast food vegan burger today from Vegan Plates but I couldn't get through on the site/phone or fb messenger. Is this service definitely live? ETA they have come back to me to apologise for booking issues today and to arrange for a delivery tomorrow, can't wait.
  22. I guess the end is nigh (see attached). Maybe someone could buy it up and turn it into a Royal Mail sorting office?? :(
  23. Hi sbogle, sent you a PM but no, these aren't the same ones sorry
  24. Sorry, sounds like these aren't the same ones.
  25. These must belong to someone, who I imagine is missing them! Anyone? Otherwise will donate them to charity via the opticians in the next week.
