West Ham fans obviously delighted that JC the prodigal son has returned, but I guess less enamoured at the prospect of Chamakh rolling up. If he does end up in the East End, he's going to have to do something with that hair...

Don't worry H, out of curiosity I'm going to apply the Huggy Quotient at the end of the season...although, depending on the outcome, I reserve the right to withhold publication ;-)

I would need to go back and look at what was exactly said about the 75% rule. I do know that you needed 75% as an incentive to take part in the Cups, but that has since changed. You have to remember this wasn't plannned, it just sort of evolved. The maxxi only came about because people joined later than others. Next season, if it's retained, the maxxi will be adjusted to take into account average scores over the whole of this season. Hopefully next season it will be a lot simpler and clearer, especially as everyone will start at the same time. Actually you're right, if there were only 8 teams the earlier rounds would be dead ducks. I should've said we need at least 9 teams. Luckily we have at least 9 teams, as ???? will be joining in, so at least one person will get eliminated...

Surely a splashback accentuates this problem, water will always collect and sit on the worktop behind the taps. Maybe what your builder meant was that water would splash onto the window itself??? Huggers is right about water and timber not being a good mix. How far back is the window from the taps? My kitchen window has a nice deep reveal of around 300mm, so if it finished level with the worktop, I don't think it would be a problem with water splashing onto the window/glass. I think it's a nice design feature where a worktop seamlessly forms the internal window cill (this also works well for built-in desks). The problem you would have to overcome is that most off-the-shelf worktops come in standard widths, around 600mm. But if you found a worktop material that came in non-standard sizes, e.g. Corian, that would be one solution to get a single 'jointless' finish. In this pic they have a window cill that sits slightly above the worktop. As long as a suitable material and waterproof joint is made between the worktop and cill, there shouldn't be a problem. Also think would the taps work for you in a different location...in a corner or to the side maybe? They don't have to go central at the back of the sink, despite what Mr Average British Builder says... http://www.trendskitchens.co.nz/tristone/gfx/residential.jpg

Welcome back EP, you're the 8th competitor, so the Predictor Cup lives! Get well soon... Well said Maxxi, I think it will help that a high profile club has decided to take this action...

Re. the FA Cup Predictor Cup...as it's a separate competition from the League, any newcomers are more than welcome to join in...

I would've thought it depended on what type of kitchen units you go for. If you went for freestanding units, i.e. no fascia/kick plate, where you would see the floor finish under the units, then yes you would need to take the new floor finish right under the new units. If you go for units with a fascia/kick plate, then you just need to run your new floor finish beyond the back of the fascia, usually just short of the legs that support the units. These legs are adjustable so will take up any difference in the level...

I'm being serious, honest! History says Fergie will rest a lot of players and play younger/inexperienced, whereas because of injuries and relative mid-table security, Big Sam can afford to go for it with a strong team...I'm happy to be proved wrong though ;-)

Average scores can be misleading, I therefore think credit should be given to those who have participated more. I was surprised that LadyGooner went for only 4 predictions last week, because unless she got a a correct score she was never going to beat a maxxi. So if she finished level with someone who had played more maxxi's, I think she deserves to finish higher on that basis alone... ETA typo

The FA Cup Predictor Cup: Ok, there wasn't a massive amount of feedback on what format it should take, but the majority consensus was that it should be kept separate from the League. So we will. As some have indicated that they might not even participate, I think we need to be flexible. I'm therefore proposing an initial league which will eventually become a straight knock-out competition. It will depend on how many participate as to when this happens, hence the need for flexibility. The aim is to have the top 8 teams go into the knock-out stage at the QF stage of the FA Cup. I will draw teams out to play each other...Fluffy and Hardface, next door's cats, will act as independent assessors (Woodrot permitting). If turnout is below 8, the competition will be binned. To encourage turnout I've picked out the 10 most 'interesting' ties, keeping with the spirit of the competition of potential cup shocks...yes I know, Arsenal to beat Swansea is a bit far fetched, but stranger things happen at sea. So, here goes... Brighton V Newcastle Bolton V Sunderland Crawley V Reading Crystal Palace V Stoke Luton V Wolves Macclesfield V Cardiff Peterborough V Norwich Swansea V Arsenal Mansfield V Liverpool Cheltenham V Everton

It all went bonkers when Seth Johnson of Leeds was allegedly getting ?35k a week, not sure when that was exactly... ETA..He signed for Leeds in 2001... The story of Johnson's contract negotiations with Leeds have passed into legend, a chilling damnation of Ridsdale's spendthrift regime. It goes as follows: Johnson had been earning ?5,000 a week at Derby and his agent told him he wouldn't settle for less than ?13,000 a week at Leeds. Ridsdale's opening gambit, however, surprised them both. "Right, I'm sorry, I can only offer you ?30,000 a week," he said. Around the table jaws dropped in genuine shock. "Oh, all right then," said Ridsdale, filling the silence, "?37,000."
