But James you keep on with the myth that it was SLL v ELL. It wasn't and isn't. The South London Line is being removed due to the London Bridge redevelopment. ELL Phase 2 would be happening whether the SLL was being removed or not. Network Rail timetable changes occur twice a year hence the changes happening at the same time. Of course it would be great to have both services, but the ELL will open up lots of journey options with new connections to the Tube. London Overground services have done lots for the new areas the line now serves and it will for our part of London. Yes the removal of SLL is a loss, but you should be encouraging your constituents to take a look at the options the East London Line opens up not dismissing it outright.

LondonMix's alternative of PR to Blackfriars then District and Circle to Victoria is a good option. I use it now when the poorly spaced Southern and South Eastern services don't work timewise or are up the spout. It doesn't add much time to my journey but cuts out the nursery pickup stress. The South London Line v East London Line debate is a nonsense anyway. If we weren't getting the ELL we would still be losing the SLL. But the East London Line will help mitigate losing the South London Line and there are other options to get to Victoria (other than the bus) which don't add a huge amount of time to journeys.

Hi Belle, our little one (now 5 and a half months) went through the same process - Gaviscon then Ranitidine - both useless. We pushed for Omeprazole following advice from friends who had been through the same. It has been excellent and while it is a pain to administer it has made a huge difference. We have had to have him regularly weighed as it becomes less effective as the baby gains weight so the doc needs to up the dose.

As Huguenot says there is a huge amount of political misinformation about this issue. My understanding is: The South London Line removal is due to the Thameslink works at London Bridge. The works mean there will not be enough platform time/space for Thameslink and current service levels. The South London Line is the least used service into London Bridge across the day therefore the decision was taken (by Network Rail and DfT to axe the service). Otions were put forward to mitigate the loss including a Victoria - Bellingham service which would replace services to Victoria via DH and PR but not London Bridge services. TfL needed funding for the East London Line Phase two extension and proposed diverting the money from the proposed Victoria - Bellingham service to help with the cost, as DfT refused any further funding to support the scheme. A business case was put forward to DfT showing that the East London Line would benefit more people than Victoria Bellingham so offered better value. This argument was accepted by the DfT. TfL then put forward a proposal to DfT offering further mitigation to the decision not to proceed with Victoria - Bellingham. I'm not sure where this has got too. The decison to scrap the South London Line was taken by the last government, so Tessa Jowell's support now seems a bit late given she was in that government and presumably could have done something then.

Loz they can't wait two weeks because the RMT's strike mandate runs out on 20 June, so they need to strike on Sunday to keep that mandate alive, if they don't they need to reballot for action.

Alan I'm not sure where you got the impression that a docking station is planned to be installed in Camberwell? The first phase is only in zone one (the nearest stations are Oval and Elephant). If there is a second phase it will be eastwards towards Canary Wharf and the Olympic Park.

Jeremy the Jubilee line upgrade will be finished later this year adding 33 per cent capacity to the line, which will do a great deal to ease crowding and will cut journey times. The DLR has just had a 50 per cent capacity increase. You also said most people want to go into central London. According to responses to the Mayor's Transport Strategy Consulatation the third highest priority for people responding was to provide better interchanges to reduce the need to enter central London to access other routes. A key point which campaigners neglect to mention is the cut to services to London Bridge is due to Network Rail's Thameslink works and has nothing to do with the East London Line. If we didn't get the East London Line the link to London Bridge would still be cut.

I find it incredible that a Government Minister can come on here and claim credit for campaigning on this issue when it was DfT and Network Rail who took the decision to cut the SLL in the first place. If it was so patently needed why were you not fighting DfT when this decision was first taken? You only became interested when you could blame Boris for the cuts to the planned Victoria to Bellingham service (which again was a DfT decison).

The South London Line is being removed due to the Thameslink improvements at London Bridge - not the East London Line. The proposed replacement for the South London Line - the Victoria to Bellingham service (which would not have provided a direct link to London Bridge) is not going ahead as the money is being used for ELL phase 2.

The end of London Bridge trains is a consequence of Thameslink, not the East London Line.
