  1. BTW, it's 'railway station'. 'Train station' is an Americanism and it sounds awful. I even see it on BBC websites, but there you go. Nero
  2. Since January 2001. Nero
  3. Chav, You have pointed out one of the hypocrisies of faith schooling. It should be phased out over the next fifteen to twenty years. If faith is important to a parent, that parent should instil it in their offspring at home. Why would God want a parent to pretend they believe in him to get a school place? To keep it on topic, I also heard that Goodrich had been resting on its laurels to an extent and that the new head is dynamic and positive. Nero
  4. I think it should go ahead for a trial period, with any objections being noted. If there are lots of pictures of 'gaggles of smackheads' provided, alongside any other problematic issues, then it should be reviewed. Addiction is not a matter of indulgence, fact. Anyone of us might have a gene combination that leads us there, and that goes for any of your children. Nero
  5. >a load of white over-paid toffs' This isn't a place for racism, even of the (possibly) self-hating kind. Nero
  6. The message is: That there are known knowns, There are things we know that we know, There are known unknowns, That is to say there are things that we now know, we don't know But there are also unknown unknowns, There are things we do not know we don't know And each year we discover a few more Of those unknown unknowns. ?Feb. 12, 2002, Department of Defense news briefing Nero
  7. A Windsor knot of estate agents? BTW, it is a smuck of jellyfish if anyone is interested. Nero
  8. See, I told you the backlash had begun! Nero
  9. MP, *everyone* knows that Mr B is a top. Nero
  10. The one at Dulwich College is good, but I wonder too whether there is price inflation at such places. Even amongst the suppliers there the prices vary. I wander around then buy. Nero
  11. If you look it up on Wiki, all will be revealed! Nero
  12. If it does go ahead, then the community wardens and local bobby should be informed. At least that way the authorities are away of public concern and of possible problems. It does seem odd to offer such a service so close to a nursery when there are other doctors' surgeries available that are not in such positions. However, I do also understand Chav's point of view. Nero
  13. Two's Company, with Elaine Stritch and Donald ? on a Sunday night was good. Agony was better, though. Starsky and Hutch on a Friday night with a Chinese takeaway. Nero
  14. I PMd the gym boss and he said that it would be open on 29th September. I am planning to have a look around then and make my decision. Nero
  15. Only if it's under th'viaduct with Bet Lynch and a bag o' chips, and not at any pricey LL establishment with overprices butties (*skilfully avoids loungement with suitable reference*) Nero
  16. I don't doubt your experience. I went in the day before it opened then heard about the prices and my inner Ena Sharples took over. You might have a point, but part of the fun of this place is the magnifying effect it has. Anywhere that can spend sooooo much time talking about a mythical M and S is obviously aware of its own comic value, and long may it continue. Nero
  17. There are some American ultra-rightists who talk of 'useless eaters', by which they mean millions of people in the third world who they think just exist to exist and without whom the world would be a better place. Bit harsh, obv, but I do wonder why people feel the need to have more than two. Nero
  18. Oh dear, the backlash has begun. Nero
  19. Virgin plus has HD too, and it is great to look at on a good HD telly set. Nero
  20. Chav, Mebbe you also read the Guardian article last week about how people think that if they recycle their mags and give their old clothes to charity, and not forget to switch off the telly at night etc. then they are doing their bit for the environment and all is well. The writer argued that these things have a very, very small effect, and that other things like consuming much less, flying much less and cutting down on driving is more important. Nero
  21. Monica, Good for you. Hopefully the bags and the fair will let people know that there are things you can do, but that it's so much more than just doing the 'little' actions like switching off your lights, not using standby. Over buying, wasting food and driving when not needed (yes, even the kids' run and nipping off to the corner shop for Green and Black chocolate, which my partner is wont to do!), not insulating your house and over heating are big concerns. Nero
  22. DM, I mentioned peackocks a few weeks back. Have you got yourself one yet? Beats crows and pigeons (which we've done, I know!) Nero
  23. MP, Keef, I too loved Space 1999. Maya was the best thing but was not in the first series, I think. As for comics, does anyone remember SpiderWoman with her venom blasts? Fantastic. The UK comics of the time didn't really work well, like Captain Britain. Nero
  24. Virgin + is good. Being able to record 2 things and watch another is great. I'm not a big film and sports fan on the telly, so Virgin + is great for me. If you are in the same position, why not consider Freeview? You can get boxes that have the ability to record too and there is the top-up card. Nero
  25. 1 The buses to town go past Jenny Eclair's posh house. 2 The ?11 sandwich. 3 You might see Moncica Ali sitting in exactly the same pose as her publicity shot at Tandoori Nights. 4 Moo 3 could be a real possibility. 5 Jacks cafe is open at least some of the time. Against 1 You could get adddicted to the EDF. Nero
