  1. Why not get a briquette maker for ?15 and recycle your paper?
  2. Don't see a problem? I do. Why should my taxes go to funding the continuation of Cahotlicism, or Judaism or Hinduism or Anglicanism? America has got it right, as has France. If religion is so important, then teach it at home. Don't rely on others of the same, different, or no faith to support you. Same with languages. If your Spanish or Urdu or Welsh is so important to you and your offspring, then you'll be prepared to go the extra mile to teach it to your children. Why do you think it is acceptable for others to support your beliefs. Just think about it. It is so presumptuous. I am not anti-religion, just anti-religion in schools. I speak as a child who went to a C of E school and studied religion to O level entirely of my own choice. Nero
  3. I agree about the lawlessness. I have seen pot being smoke openly, men peeing up walls, kids running amok, cars and vans parking willy nilly. Hopefully the Street Wardens will be able to do something. Hey-ho.
  4. Dear J, I asked the bloke at the counter about this, and he said it wasn't going to be flats. That was about 3 weeks ago. BTW, if you want plants, go to the London Wildlife garden off Oglander Rd where you can get lots of native plants for just a pound or 2.
  5. My NYC neighbour tells me that London right now has a feel of NYC in the 70s. She says she used to go into Manhattan and see people talking to snakes and others taking rats for a walk on a lead. She says that the 'edge' that London has is similar to that in NYC then. She said it only half jokingly. I fear for parts of London at times. I don't think we are in danger in SE22,SE21 or SE24 but when you venture into Camberwell and Elephant, there is a certain lawlessness that I really don't like.(PS I am from Manchester, and not a very salubrious part of that city too, so I do have a sense of 'danger'.) What do you lot think of our fair city's vibe right now?
  6. Hello, could 79 be the old William Hill, near to Tandoori Nights? And while we are on the subject, what about the old sportswear shop near to Tandoori Nights too?
  7. But what does India Frondberry think of all this?
  8. No need for Waga when we have Chopsticks!
  9. It's not E Dulwich, but what about Lombok in Herne Hill. I like it a lot. Good service too.
  10. What's it like? It just seems a bit, well, odd. I think it looks attractive in a faintly "League of Gentlemen" way. Let me know if you've been. Is it a local French bistro for local people? I like to think of the old lady from the old dressmaker's next to the butcher's shop tottering off down there once in a blue moon for a bowl of onion soup and a glass of vin rouge. Mind you, I like to think of lots of things..... Nero
  11. I agree that an M and S or a Planet Organic or Waitrose wouuld be no good, but Strada is a very good chain. It is hardly in the same league as Tesco etc, with only about 10 branches around London. Do you agree that there is a laock of a good pizzeria or Italian? Nero
  12. As a long-time and avid yellow poster snooper, I noticed that the bookies' as was on LL, near to the video shop, could become a ladies' beauty parlour. Also, would anyone else second my desire that Strada should set up shop on LL? There is no pizzeria for miles, save P Express in the Village and that doesn't count. Imagine having a pint in the Bishop then a nice fiorentina in Strada where that benefits place used to be, or in place where the Woolwich is. (A poster said it was closing in September.)
