  1. Just been down near to Belair House and seen loads of film trucks and lighting vans parked in the car park there. A lighting van was also at the back of the Picture Gallery, and cars had been prevented from parking near there. No idea what they are filming, though. Nero
  2. Hi B-Nan, I mentioned BookCrossing earlier up the thread. I've been doing it for a few years. I left a book on the round bench outside the hairdresser's in D Village and saw someone eyeing it, but it has never been officially 'found'. It's really good when someone finds a book you've left and logs in to tell you. Nero
  3. Perfect Thing, which is a history (!) of the iPod, which was launched less than 7 years ago. It's ok, but a bit involved. Nero
  4. Walking tp/from Aldwych takes me 1 1/2-1 3/4 hours or so. Nero
  5. Apparently so. Jamie also has been seen about these parts too. Nero
  6. Zizzi, IMHO, is not a patch on Strada. The new place on F Hill Rd will be doing pizzas, but not wood fired oven ones. Nero
  7. Huguenot, you are a fellow eco-tramp. I very often pick up cans and placcy bottles (Coke, Polish lager, cider and Lucozade being the beverages of choice in Upper East Dulwich) and put them in either my or someone else's recycling bin. Likewise I collect those very visible red rubber bands some of our mucky mail-persons drop, and make them into rubber band balls. Does this trump enviro-grubbing as a sad endeavour? All thoughts welcome. Nero
  8. Readers, do any of you Bookcross? I've been doing it for a few years, with some success. Dulwich Fair is doing it in May, apparently. Nero
  9. Get a room, you two. (And I don't mean the Lounge, Quiet Room or Music Room either!) Nero
  10. Point taken. I should've said 'looked awful'. By that I meant scruffy, grafitti'd, dying plants. All that put me off. Nero
  11. Human League and Sapphire and Steel fans might well like this. Nero
  12. I never went to 2 Trees. What was it like, apart from awful. Also, what about the Turkish place? It looks quite nice, and it was where Boris Karloff was born, I think. Nero
  13. I like cacti a lot, and I like Italian bread. I think that makes me a loathsome bourgeois salt-of-the-earth darling. Nero
  14. I have an idea. I had it a few weeks ago, butn think this is a good place to post it. Perhaps the lovely Silvana, whose 'real' name I forget, could provide cooking lessons to ED members, for a price? Nero
  15. ! ..? ..!! Nero ::o
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqr8KRTzgzk If you like Lsdytron, you might like Alpinestars, a Manc band from the early part of this decade/century/millennium. Nero
  17. Buongiorno a tutti! I have HOT NEWS. Lorenzo's of Crystal Palace is to open a second branch at 32 Forest Hill Rd, next to the Coop. Just been talking to Mr Lorenzo and his son. They had been reading the posts about SE22 needing a good Italian eatery, and decided to take the plunge. They are aiming for a June 1 opening. Pizza, pasta, sea food and an outside terrace. F Hill Rd has been looking up recently with the new barber's and the revamped beautician's place. Hopefully this will be a welcome arrival. A presto, amici! Nero
  18. Although I fear repeating myself (see post on palm trees in Peckham), a house on Dunstans Rd near to Forest Hill Rd has huge cacti in a somewhat ramshackle greenhouse in the front garden. It's worth a look. In the summer he takes the glass away. Very savannah-like. Nero
  19. I only go there infrequently, but when I do I always have had average-to-good service. Once I was given free bread as it was the end of the day. It is too expensive though, and badly laid out. There needs to be more room for the customers at the counter. Nero
  20. DM, I have bad news. The CPT has a board outside saying the establishmen will not tolerate workwear, let alone the person in it. Back to Blahniks, methinks. Nero
  21. Mr Mockney, are you a cactus fan? I am. Country spray do great, large euphorbia for about ?30. I've had 2. Smaller species are available too. And there is a house near the Forest Hill Rd end of Dunstan's that has a greenhouse in the front garden with MASSIVE cacti. V impressive. 'Tis all, Nero. PS I am all for using species that are drought resistant, but I think palms and yucca are naff. Other species could be found that are more inkeeping with the natural environment, such as gingko (not a native species, obv, but at least they look like other deciduous trees.)
  22. You might find it a bit cheaper in Upper East Dulwich (I just made that up. It could well stick.) By that I mean past Townley Road. The transport options are more limited, as it is at least a 20 min walk to ED Station, or a bus (of which there are plenty) but it is nearer to the library, Dulwich Park and is quieter and away from the main drag. Also, Heber and Goodrich Schools are there and are good, especially the latter. Nero
  23. It's more gay friendly than it used to be. Not that there was any overt homophobia, but certain pubs were rough-ish and would frighten many people, gay or straight. To be honest, there are many couples with kids - that is the main demographic. It ain't Old Compton Street, but then again, why would it be? Come and join us. It's fine. There's a nice vibe and you won't stick out like a certain over-played Little Britain character. Nero
  24. U R Mr Iceland and I claim my 3-for-1 mini Kievs! Nero
  25. Dear DM, SK3 is Edgeley, Stockport, home of Stockport County. Stockport is a charming little market town on the banks of the River Mersey, or at least that's what I told my O-level French examiner. A bientot! Nero
