Odd, I was in there this morning around 10ish and everything seemed normal - they have had bother in the past with flooding/leaks - could be that I suppose........

There's bugger all in the shop - went along today in the spirit of 'giving everything a fighting chance' and like a lot of 'boutiques' there's naff all in there. Shame.

Been in there 3 times, and left each time before even ordering - Call me unlucky but the staff have always been pretty off and not made us feel welcome at all - I'm not asking for any special kind of treatment but the last ime the waitress tried to move me whilst still in my chair - nice.......

Why do you live in ED Louisa? Perhaps this is a question which has been asked many times........ Go straight to the Lounge, do not pass Go, do not collect...........

I'm so sorry to withdraw my offerings (hubbie and his mate) from the line-up at such a late stage (not my usual style at all honest) unfortunately baby has passed on a pretty nasty stomach bug resulting in 'runs' you really don't want at the cricket...... So now not only do I have to look after the pair of them I also have to find some way to make up for the devastating loss of cricket, any ideas? Needless to say, wishing you all the best for the match tomorrow and definitely count us in for any return match/future matches (I will be sure to quarantine daughter for 7 days beforehand). Are parents and kids not welcome anywhere in ED these days? Surely a park and a park cafe are ideal and preferable to the pub (since we always get slated for taking the bairns to the pub at 3 in the afternoon - God forbid!) On a sunny day the PR cafe is great - if you go early 9/10ish there are no queues, plenty of seating inside and out and the staff are really pleasant.

Hi all, just to confirm my 2 offerings - hubbie who bowls legspin (I'd have been impressed with overarm but there you go....) and his mate who is 'enthusiastic' in most positions(?). See you all at the Common around 11 - will be driving as exposing baby daughter to first game of 'cricket'........

Hope and Greenwood's icecream is to die for (and the staff are lovely) - particularly the cafe latte one. I bought the last of their supply for my freezer a couple of summers back - I was 5 months pregnant at the time.......

Place looks lovely, but as with many things looks can be very deceiving...... Was in there during the week with Mr Mac and we dared to take the little'un with us (you get into trouble leaving them at home on their own with two cats.) We sat in an empty front room and were promptly ushered to the back room 'for health and saftey reasons'. What a crock of s@!t. The back room was full of unopened deliveries and we felt like we'd been shoved in a storeroom (perhaps we were?). The waiting staff were pretty unfriendly, that is until the owner left and miraculously the mood lightened. Nice cup of tea, but cr*ppy environment - we will not be going back.

My heart sank when I saw them today - we've also had a real increase in people knocking at the door around 8 o'clock at night which I find even more invasive. I'm not even sure I do understand why charities adopt this approach, it would seem everyone I know hates chuggers as much as I do and avoids them, and consequently the charities, like the plague........

Hi Guys (and ladies among you.....) I previously made suggestions of 2 more 'players' for the game on the 18th - one definite bowler (a practised overarm) and the other, well I'm not overly sure, but he's willing..... Regards equipment, not sure what is required, shamefully I think I may have suggested that hubbie's cricket gear was 'recycled' a couple of seasons ago due to lack of use - please tell me there's a communal ED box? Looking forward to a sun-filled day of cricket, as promised will be there with cake - just let me know the details. x

Bright Horizons nursery (in Sainsbury's carpark) will let you register pre-birth. As for finding a decent childminder, they are like gold dust - just gone through the whole (stressful) process ourselves and thank God have found one who we really like - the Southwark Council list is filled with some 'interesting' options, however have a couple of friends who are very happy with the childminders they have - PM me for their details. As an aside, if possible I think it's better to have the little'uns with childminders/nannies when they're really little and nursery when they're a bit older - more 1-to-1ish care IMO. Good luck

and according to Austin Mitchel MP from the parliamentary record mentioned earlier: Instead of giving that useless and untrue information, the council could have told my daughter that she could have made a statutory declaration in the county court, which would have cost her ?5. That would have gone to the Northampton parking fines centre, stayed the process and the clamp could have been removed. So a statutory declaration costs 5 quid - one to remember for all us I think - sorry it comes a little late for Ratpack.....

Another Forum gripe at ED parents (or Mums in particular). Boredboredboredboredbored. Let's face it the feckless a*seholes with babies/toddlers/prams were the same feckless a*seholes a couple of years ago and childless. Most of us are decent, respectful, well mannered people, at least that is until some nubile without-child young thing gets in my way..........

We were members of JAGS a while back but the service we got was woeful so membership was cancelled - the gym gets very busy and the school kids have priority over the swimming pool and other facilities - that's what cheesed me off so much, I'd often turn up for a swim when the pool was supposed to be members only to be told that there was some school event on (no prior warning), also on a couple of occasions they hadn't cleared the changing rooms of school girls before the member's gym session started, very embarrassing and totally inappropriate for the men who walked in on them....... I did try to have a conversation with the manager about a number of things, but his response was that I should see my membership fee as a charitable act, helping to fund less affluent kids to go to JAGS....... Thanks to this thread though there does seem to be other options out there, will check them out.

That shop's been empty for years, I did hear a few years back that it was possibly going to be leased by some local artist(s) for exibiting, but nothing ever materialised. Why the interest now, has somthing been rumoured?

I'm hearing you and with you all the way - although not sure how residents of Archdale, Nutfield, Ulverscroft etc would feel about the potential extra traffic in their streets. I do think the market adds something to NC road but could add so much more - I know there are a number of potential vendors who would love to have a stall but the pitches are gold dust apparently. Best of luck with the impending arrival, and I'm sure you'll find that the amount of crap required whether for a half hour shopping trip or two week holiday is astounding.......

A brave leap indeed, especially the dig at (at least) 50% of the money spending population in ED - pram wielding parents..... I think pedestrain only market days would be very welcome, especially if it means more stalls - the current ones do lack some variety. I'd be grateful for any tips/advice you may have ronnyb on lightening my pram load - (other than off-loading child) and of course I am very sorry for any lack of consideration........
