  6. Get a drinks cabinet it's just as effective but not as flash admittedly
  7. Family all sat down to Sunday roast in our house as most weeks - I actually feel a bit sorry for people who don't 'get' this - ie the tradition and the food.
  8. Political disengagement part 207 - a party that wins 1 seat and polls about 12% now seems to dictating the policy for Dave and Ed. Political pygmise both of them, Unlike SJ I'm pretty sure I've friends (and possibly family) who will say they are going to vote UKIP, rather than huffing off with my Guardian tucked under my arm tutting I WILL be pointing out how fooking stupid their action are...which is more than the PM and the Leader of the 'progressive' party seem to be able to do right now

A relative easy but very unconvincing victory
  10. StraferJack Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > God forbid people should take responsibility for > their actions Yup. All those people who voted for a party stuffed with cabinet ministers who supported an illegal war say
  11. I think I agree with that Louisa, with all the potential problems etc I think it will at laest encourgae a bit more engagement. We'd see the emergence of a proper Left wing alternative (although the Greens are that, a bit) for example and maybe a proper MOR dull old managing things decently party that'd get my vote :)
  12. i think a lot of older 'lower/middle middle class' provincial who aren't struggling vote UKIP. They have also hoovered up the old BNP vote.

So why is no one > sounding happy. basically 'cos: - a bunch of people think ED isn't working class enough now, but a sub group of these think Penge is too working class as you can get a kicking on any streetcorner a bunch of people think ED is up itself but will be moving to Penge as it's gettin a waitrose a bunch of people who think East Dulwich is sh1te nowadays but spend their whole time on the EDF and spend a fair bit of that just telling everyone how shit ED is nowwadays All cockwank of course then there's a few people who are just trying to find somewhere to live within their budget making the compromises that we all (except the very rich) do NOTHING TO SEE HERE
  14. Grown up politicians-grown up parties- grown up electorate.... ...not too much to ask :)

Yes, it's a fair point he is too. Very unlikely to get my vote too.
  16. exactly, and Milliband is falling into populism rather than what's needed so in that sense is already mirroring UKIP except being populist on issues that sit ok in Islington circles and the Guardian - lower rail fares YEAH YEAH, nasty rich tax em, er but not you just those on ?100k plus, energy price capping (any idea what that'll do to investement in our enery infrastructure - give you clue it'll F*ck it up) I do support an increase in the minimum wage tho. I'm interested in our economy getting fixed so we can build a better future not 'my party' getting elected. Not sure if I'll bother voting but it won't be Milliband for sure

yup, absolutely SJ. it's been a great week with this and KP
  18. Oh come on. i'm quite happy to bang on about class etc but in reality much of white working class London couldn't wait to get out of 'sh1thole' London for years only then they mainly blamed a different sort of incomer. Complete rubbish that middle class newcomers have somehow pushed them all away. in a global world, House prices aren't driven by the fact a couple of cup cake shops open on Hardship Lane.....even I'm bored of it all now
  19. plus selection lists continually choose the same sort of candidates for all parties...again, not the fault of non-party members (or even party members in some cases)but the politicians
  20. StraferJack Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > "I know that would be suicide a" > > if that's the case why blame the politician - why > not blame the people who would judge him/her for > it? Because some of it is the politicians and party system Ask people a question, even a political one, you get a straigth answer normally (doesn't mean it's right or you agree) ask a politician a straight question on any thing vaguely contraversial (eg their views on drug legalisation) you don't you get avoidance for fear of not 'being on message' and it's pathetic and alienating. Not answering a straight question - politicians and spin doctors fault not the peoples....and that's why people get pisse*d off and it's not our fault..just as one example of this.

  23. Income Tax...you sure? plus Labour haven't been quiet on Zero_hour Contarcts or Minimum wage (were you watching their conference??) But those are 'micro' issues the biggest ones are defeceit (ooops, forgot that one David M...and C:) ); overall management of the economy and Immigration and a bit further down the list the NHS. Labour only doing well on one of them.
  24. ...that was just populist rubish too DC.....
