  1. ...or it just makes Birmingham the next commuter suburb for London ...or as I saw from someone last week in City AM "if you gave Manchester or Birmingham etc ?Xbn to develop business in their regions how many would come up with 'Let's spend it all on a fast link to London'?"
  2. ....three ways tom start that. Give more power back to regional govt but no bail out if they hang themselves as some will.....(usual suspects) Unions recognise that we need regional pay rates so Public Sector jobs in economically suffering areas don't cream off a huge amount of local talent to the detriment of Private sector/entreprenueralism Scrap HS 2 and improve transport links between the major regional cities Still pretty cynical that govt/the state can do much about this though to be hones but more devolved power will at least give regions a chance to reinvent themselves...but some will choose the wrong route ie high public spending

  4. FIRST WORLD PROBLEM - 'Long standing customer' parks where they are not meant to; warned not to; ignores that; gets a ticket; and then is let off and still comes on the EDF and acts hard done by??? Is this a colossal wind up or actually the most pathetic thread ever on here? (and, boy that takes some doing)

...yeah but West Ham arent (twice) :)
  6. I don't know about the thinky bit, but within two weeks of hearing Anarchy in the UK I threw away all my old Oxford Bags; told all the 6th formers - as I'd always actually known that Yes were actually shite and I didn't want to lsiten to them anymore; got my mate to cut my hair and stuck a saftey pin through my ear. All very suburban punk but amazingly liberating when you are 14. And, the adults were scared...which was the best thing.

I am not going to gloat but it's a real mess there. I really thought Spurs would do REALLY well this season with the money they spent and players they bought but it looks like they've basically blown the Bale money and they won't get it back in a hurry. I'd be mightiily pissed off if I was a Spurs fan. Levy must take some blame surely Jah? I would agree that some of those new players will probably bed in better next year but it looks a bit of a cars crash at the moment.

  10. er, it's the Sunday Times PT - which has a wider readership, although still pretty M/C. But it is what it is - all lists are to some degree exclsuive and therefor redundant by your logic. Looking forward for the Morning Star's one though :)

It's hard to not be patronising but Jeremy I presume you are way too young to understand just what an impact the pistols had in 76/77. Firstly on youth itself, secondly on the establishment and thirdly on countless other bands/artists that followed them. I was 14 in 1976 - they changed the way I felt about almost everything and many of my mates too. Not saying everyone our age felt that way but many did. A massive catalysts - although with really just one decent album.
