Nope - My point is that the the record of many aspects of Islam is as bad and maybe worse than Catholicism (please not the -isms and -ams, not -ims or -ics). They are both legitimate targets largely for being medieval superstitious nonsense with an often babaric twist. I think that one is an easier target than the other, for some of the reasons you point out BUT with a dose of PCism in there too. Certaintly the scorn and vitriolism for the popes visit in the usual media suspects looks pretty similar to the 'hook hand hatred stirrer' headlines of the Sun/mail etc.... subjects and targets that my favourite newspaper (not) very rarely takes on.

Chill out - on the whole I prefer the clientele in indie pubs to chain pubs. That's not a f*cking insult on the poor FFS. On the whole I'd just about rather drink in a Wetherspoon than an All Bar one.... you keep fighting your imaginery battles though.

Nope IV - it was a statement about Chain Pubs, their ubiquity and their marketing led souless chain offers (most of which are actually more expensive than locals, Wetherspoons being an exception) I'm not saying cheap pubs=not my sort of people, just chain pubs...and yes, that includes Wetherspoons, and if you see that as an insult on the poor that's your own imaginary problem/battle.

A fair few years back I realised that you didn't have to have the Full English when staying at hotels* - believe me since then life in hotels/on breaks etc has been better. *another equally liberating thing was giving up on having airplane food (except in First Class)

In an ideal world would like no chains on LL full stop. They push up rents, push out the independents and without them the reality of SE22 - quite pretty but relatively small pokey housing stock and LL especially, actuallay a fairly average street (without its quirky shops and bars, etc) - would suddenly become very apparent indeed. Be careful for what you wish for.
