Thanks everyone, turns out it wasnt chicken pox, so ds had his jab this morning. A really good experience so perhaps the troubles from a couple of years back are sorted? We had a lovely doctor, all on time, a sticker:) and it was ?68.00 which was a good price too. A very good experience all around.

Looks like we might be too late, spotted what could be CP spots this evening. What are the odds of that! Sigh, will have to see how it goes.

Quick bite to eat before cinema, where?
midivydale replied to midivydale's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thank you so much everyone,we were going to try the oliviello or whatever it is called but there were no less than 5 sets of familes with young children (which was exactly what I tried to escape 😀). Ended up at Franco Manca, it was lovely. Film was rubbish sadly. -
Last minute cinema date with friend. Where should we go for a budget friendly nice quick meal? Cinema on LL.

The Rabbit Who Wants To Fall Asleep.
midivydale replied to ukdealguide's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I started a thread about this a week or so ago, mixed responses.... X -
Yes they were supposed to do snagging (as i took one day annual leave to attend it). They did not bother turning up. The builders were also drinking heavily on the job (vodka in their tea, leaving cider cans on the scaffolding etc). I am aghast and very upset about this substandard work, for which I am liable thousands of pounds. It is a disgrace. I would buy my freehold in a heartbeat if I could, but the other resident in our house (a terrace, 2 flats) is a tenant so sadly that option is not open to us.

Hi all, A friend and forumite just told me about the book called "The Rabbit Who Wants to Fall Asleep". I can't believe I had not heard about it. Has anyone ordered/tried it? Please please please tell me it is a magic solution to my 3 1/2 year sleep deprivation?

A tinted moisturiser is my best friend these days, a lovely alternative to full on foundation, becca and laura mercier do lovely ones. For eyeliner, have you heard of tightlining? Basically you dot eyeliner underneath the eyelashes (google for better explanation). No need to do a straightline but it frames the eyes nicely. Clarins do a lovely one called 3 dot liner for this purpose. I use bronzer (guerlain) and blusher sometimes. A stick blush (nars, bobbi brown, chanel) is easy to apply and blend. For lips (dont get in with luosticks) I like crayons and tinted balms. Not sticky like a gloss but more toned down than lipstick and more forgiving if lips are dry. Clinique chubby sticks are good. Selfridges have lovely makeup staff. Charlotte Tilbury and Trish Mcevoy are my favourites. Mascara - I use a loreal tube mascara. It is good but tbh I just buy whatever masacara is on offer. Eyeshadow I find tricky as i have got older but have settled for a bare mineral one called 5in1 or something. It is a cooling little tube with a neutral paste thing which evens out and gives the eyes abit of a lift. Takes 3 secs to blob on and rub in. I would give dr boo a miss personally too.

I have a film on at ED Picturehouse - 15th August
midivydale replied to kittysailing's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Oh I remember, of course! He kept our sanity intact for those fraught first 48hrs. Meeting with some girls from work and we are all really looking forward to it. Wishing you best of luck for this evening x -
Oh Ellie, sending hugs! Here we are again hey... Look, you feel how you feel because you are shattered. You are tired, not a rubbish mum. We seem to have identical babies and toddlers, i sympathise! Like Astrid83, I only cope by cosleeping. It is the only way I can manage to hold down a job whilst not constantly snap at my son. I realise it is not for everyone but for us, right now, it works. I am terrible with no sleep, cant function, so I have big sympathy for you with your interview. I have no advice, basically I have just given in to ds demands of constant reassurance. He is a sensisitve little guy, I work alot and the time I am not working, he needs me so I have just given in. No practical advice, just buckets of sympathy.

3 yo and cinema: Minions? INside Out?
midivydale replied to Ellie78's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Oh this sounds exciting. I love taking my my 3 1/2 year old to the cinema (great for rainy weekends). He does not sit still, ever but actually provided he likes the film he does sit still in a cinema... Last weekend we went to see the new thomas the tank engine at Surrey Quays cinema which he loved. I had completely forgotten about the ED one. Will def try it. -
"Normal behaviour" for a child
midivydale replied to Tallulahdoesthehula's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Yes agree pickle, I would also make them buy it back with their own money. What I meant was, even though naughty it was not an "abnormal" behaviour as such. Clearly though, such behaviour should have a consequence (IMO). -
Number 2 and anxiety in 3yr old boy
midivydale replied to midivydale's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We have been given movicol but he blatenly refuses to drink it, so we have moved on to Lactalose now. Fingers crossed. Last night he asked if I could put a nappy on him "as he needed it". I said of course, and he did, eventually go in the nappy. Lactalose might have already helped abit. I did say to him that he can always ask for a nappy when he needs one and I showed him where they are. We said that he can put one on himself if he needs it etc (pullups). I am hoping this will help with his anxiety and then once he is more regular again we can start insisiting with the toilet/potty. As long as he goes and does not feel frightened or anxiuos about it I dont care if he wants to use a nappy. He has always had issues with his bowel movements on and off, since he was a baby, so I will def take a gentle approach and let him lead. I am looking into all your tips too, many thanks for all your help. -
"Normal behaviour" for a child

Although obviously upsetting for your 4yr old, the behaviour itself sounds completely normal to me. -
