  1. Oh saffron, I was hoping you would be around. Very interesting and informative and along the lines of my own thinking. These bugs are awful as the aftermath set miniivy back for weeks and weeks. Great advice about low dose meds. Thank you
  2. Hi strawbsy, yes please to details. X
  3. Hi former reflux mums - are you still out there? Does any of you have toddlers who still at times experience reflux symptoms? My boy is now 3 and after a tummy bug we now seem to have a set back both in terms of foods he tolerates and reflux. Anyone out there? Pleeease?

  5. Thank you for your reply, much appreciated. I am trying to self refer to kings but am unable to get through to them. I have given up the GP ref route. There is only so many times I can que up at 7.25. I phoned a lovely helpline at www.anaphylaxis.org.uk and they have provided me with a list of consultants in London. They were very very helpful in case someone out there need similar help.
  6. Please could someone recommend a private clinic in or around London for a comprehensive allergy assessment for a 3year old? I am fully aware that not all intolerances or allergies will show on a prick test but I am desperate for an overall review. My GP will not refer to Kings so I am going private. After weeks of queing at dawn for a phone app, to turn into a face to face appointment for then to be told "maybe its a virus, maybe its hayfever" I have had enough. Sorry about ranty tone but my little guy has suffered for weeks and I am so upset that we are not getting the support he needs. Any pointers would be gratefully received. PM if you prefer, many thanks
  7. Hi bimum, How old is your boy? Biting is very common in young children, the staff at nursery should be able to reassure you. My son did bite a few timea during his settling in sessions and i couldnt believe it. He was bitten by other children too;) It is heartbreaking to leave your child for the first time and of course it will be even more traumatic if you have an incident. Try to be gentle with yourself, your son- and you- both need time to adjust. It takes time to build trust and a report with staff at nursery, especially if English is not your first language (it isnt for me either, so I know how hard it is). Wishing you a better day tomorrow! X
  8. St Asaphs road near the excellent john stainer primary in brockley?
  9. So pleased to hear this! Last year I was involved in an accident that could have ended v badly. i came out of PR park and turned right towards nunhead. As i had completed the turn i was hit from behind by a reversing delivery van, on the wrong side of the road. It was awful, he ran into the side of the car where my son was hit and I couldnt get him out. I was so shaken, I couldnt get the door open to get him out. My insurance company tried to tell me it was a dual liability claim and i could just not accept this. In the end, the other insurer did admit liability and all was well but we have spent about 6 mnths to get our money back. Appalling service.
  10. "I've done everything I can to ensure we have sufficient primary school places - initating and leading new free school campaigns and giving a great deal of support to all other local free school campaigns. " Indeed you have James, and I applaud you for your commitment and efforts in this regard. You deserve recognition for this, from our community. Thank you
  11. Hej, garna! Jag ar svensk med en son pa 3ar.kul!
  12. I should have added that my ds never took to the balance bike, he kept saying the bike father christmas got him was "bloken" as it had no pedals...for his 3rd bday a couple of weeka ago he got a bike, with stabilisers on. He loves it,and when the time is right we will take them off.
  13. Well said saffron and londonmix. Skin_Deep i will send you a PM this evening. X
  14. We made the transition with stabilisers, but my son, as you know, is alot younger than buglet;) Good luck!
  15. Oh skin_deep, i remember your other thread about your son being dragged by his feet. Totally unacceptable. I am wondering if your son's recent experiences were due to him still feeling upset about the last nursery, if that makes sense? It does make for a heartbreaking read. I am convinced and have witnessed with my own eyes how some children (not my own necessarily, but usually boys) do seem to get labelled as trouble makers and then they cant do anything right. This becomes a viscious circle and they then eventually do start to behave like their label. It sounds as if you have been quite traumatised by theae events and perhaps it would be helpful for you too to speak to someone about these experiences? We all try to do the best thing for our children and I know from experience the utter despair you feel as a mother when things are not right.
  16. I use Aveeno too for my son who is 3. His condition is not severe though but Aveeno has def helped.
  17. Thank you so much for this link. An important, interesting and oh such a sad sad read.
  18. I pressed for dear life;) I am so surprised to hear this, I thought the eating, drinking, reading etc were another white lie the sisterhood conspired with. I had a spinal block for what should have been a c-section but ended up being forceps and yes, I could see how you would eat/read etc after that. So Interesting to hear of others' experience.
  19. Congrstualtions klh!! Well done!! Just wondering,to those of you sitting back reading magazines, had a nap, cup of tea etc after the epidurial...really?? My experience was completely different, yes the pain was reduced somewhat but I was still very much in agony and def unable to sleep, eat/drink etc. Are there different epidurials?
  20. A close friend of mine lives there with her husband and two young children and is very happy. I love it there when I visit. As a poster said above, I would much rather live there than in my current 2 bed flat.
  21. Yes to sali hughes, and caroline hirons has a good blog as does lisa elderidge.
  22. Clarins Beauty flash balm is lovely for a skin pick me up as is estee lauder advance night repair serum (cant remember the name but the brown bottle). I havent treated myself to it lately as it is rather expensive but skin always looks better for it. Also worth a mention is the usual drink lots of water, minimise sugar, caffeine and alcohol blah blah blah ;)
  23. Delighted to hear this! Please pay them a visit and show your support. Shona - we sure have missed you!
  24. Very supportive in my experience. I had an induction and refused the drip until i had been given an epidurial. Nothing but kind support from the staff with regards to epidurial.
