  1. Help, had some very bad highlights done in the city yesterday. They are horrid. peroxide, yellow. To the point where I had to cancel a meeting today. What do I do? Does anyone know if these things can be corrected? HELP. DS has pointed at my head all morning going "mummy yellow" which has had my partner in stiches. Yea yea mummy yellow -hilarious.
  2. Anyone else in the park with their high energy offsprings? We are so if anyone else is about, would be lovely to see you! We are in the corner by the boul court( hope that is the English word). X
  3. Sorry forgot to say, I use the Batiste too. Very cheap and they do handbag sizes too. I have one in my desk at work and one in the car;)
  4. Dry shampoo gives me an extra day at best so not an ultimate solution but i find it a godsend in an emergency morning when - "damn I have a meeting i have forgotten about and now I havent got time for the wash/blowdry which is really needed". In the above scenario I could get away with dry shampoo and the wear my hair up for the day. I have not however managed to make it work when I wear my hair down. My hair is too dry for that and needs more tlc. So not a magic solution but means I can just about pull off a polished (well), "I am together" look. Just about
  5. Just thinking, maybe a high energy child meet up in the park? Now that would be an idea:)
  6. An other high energy mum here! Son that is- not me. Thanks, for that link Belle. My son is the most beautiful, loving, cuddly little boy but man- he does not sit still. Ever!! I find it hard at times, watching with envy as other toddler sit nicely with their parents on a blanket. I have also had quite a few comments which, sensitve soul that I am I have taken to heart. The "oh deary me, you have your hands full with him" really get to me at the moment. Yes, he is wild but he is also the most happy, excited and curious little boy and ultimately he really seems to love and cherish life which really moves me. I adore and admire his so genuine excitement and willingness to explore the world. I find it really touching. I too have stoped going to some of the activities I know doesnt suit him. His childminder has been amazing with regards to his energy. She lets him be who he is.
  7. We own the first floor flat of a victorian conversion (downstairs is tenanted by the council) and we need some repairs to the building ie repointing of brick work, repair of sash windows and a new fence etc. In the past we have carried out repairs ourselves and tried to involve Southwark as little as possible. Does anyone have a good /reasonable contact at Southwark that we can approach in order to get the above looked at? I would be most grateful. I am extremely concerned about paying for substandard work and would like to speak to anyone who has experience of having their exteriors renovated by a Southwark contractor. I am not concerned about the costs as such - it needs to be done - but I am very concerned about spending alot of money on work that is substandard. Another question, has anyone approached the counicl to ask to purchase the loftspace and/or other flat in an Victorian terrace? If so, what was their response and the process? Any help would be extremely gratefully received.
  8. Tee, Carrie is right you are not able to purchase freehold unless both of you apply. However, I believe that the horrific huge bills associated with leasehold properties are mainly relevant when you live on a large estate. There is only so much work to be done to a Victorian terrace. Before you complete your purchase ask for a 5yr estimate so that you get an idea of proposed work. I think that Southwark are taking a backseat when it comes to restoration and renovation of terraced homes, making a huge bill very unlikely. On the other hand, this also means that should YOU require repairs you may be in for a very long wait as well as substandard work being carried out. This is sadly our experiences. Good luck!
  9. My cousin had her son at 24 weeks (to the day) and he weighed 613g at birth. He is one of the youngest and smallest babies to have survived in Sweden. There were some very frightening moments when he was newborn but he is 6yrs old now and thriving. I think that the only major medical issues are his sight as he was in an incubator for so long it affected his sight. (I could be wrong about this). He is just a thriving little boy now - love him to bits. He is amazing.
  10. Just came across this thread and Uncle Ben, what an arrogant & stupid remark! Scruffypaolo, perhaps we can exchange experiences over PM?
  11. How about the baby groups at crooked & well? I would have loved a quick mani or eyebrow tidy whilst on mat leave. Perhaps call the crooked & well and ask them? I think their age range is pretty good too (basically non moving babies). Think mums of younger babies would find this easier to master than toddler mums. Brilliant idea - best of luck!
  12. Can also wholeheartedly recommend Russell!
  13. Not so sure about the original bit but the best gift I ever got for my baby was a pack of Aden + Anais muslins. They are divine and we have used them every single day since birth, DS is now 17 months. It is by far his most treasured possession as he uses it as a comfort blanket. We have washed them weekly since March last year and they just last and last and then some. If anything they go softer over time, making them even softer. The best gift that I received for myself was the homemade Lasagna a friend brought around a couple of days after birth, and the swift cleaning of my kitchen she did too. Anything that can help the mother in the first few days will be so very gratefully received.

  16. Aw, i dont have the answer but I understand how you feel. I watched my little boy in the playground yesterday so eager to play with the "big boys" and keen to show me some independance. It really pulled on my heartstrings. I wish there was a pause button right i could press.
  17. You can get two bed flats in Nunhead for 250k;) Another option is to get a one bed flat and add an extra bedroom. This can be done under your budget of 250k. Just a thought.
  18. Denmark is a beautiful childfriendly place. Skagen is amazing as is the beaches of Jutland.

  20. Hi, you will be invited for a viewing with the manager and she will give you the forms to sign. I have no experience of having my child there but we went for a viewing not long ago and got a really good impression. The children seemed to love it, the manager and staff seemed great and the outdoor space was impressie too compared to some of the others I have seen. I really liked it.
