Hi, I was amazed that when you cook on one of these grills, the amount of fat that is in the tray is amazing. Shall I go healthy or shall I have bread and dripping! Take care, Libra Carr

Hi again, We Live in Oakhurst Grove and have had really bad probs. Christmas Day we thought we had a earthquake. It was a combination of the Council tree on the road, and the neighbours treee having to much water!. A Old cupboard door blew off and went down the stairs, and we have a gap of a inch in the middle wall from our cellar to the fourth floor. The builders are in (messy little bastards) and we have had to stop our scheduled cookery filming. I have gone out and bought a two ring boiler, (bit like the wife) A George Forman griddle, Microwave grill, toaster, etc. and have converted a bedroom into a emergency kitchen. I find as your resources get less it takes longer to cook, we have to seal the door off (after the builders have gone) to ensure there is no contamination. Tonights meal is Loin of Pork in herb de provence sauce, with Julienne of baby carrots and baby sweetcorn, also with with new potatoes par boiled and then finished off in a pan with cracked pepper and sea salt. I have prepped tommorows meal which is a beef stew. Done the veg, placed in the fridge. I will trim the beef tommorow and introduce the stock. Me Mammy will do the dumplings as I cannot have flour on the bedroom carpet. This meal is so simple and quick. You get home, prep the veg and meat, Boil some water and introduce the veg meat, and stock (cube). Have a shower and its ready when you have the obligatory glass of wine on the table!. Regards, Libra Carr

Oops its me again.... On your beans on toast, try pre frying some bacon, cut into small cubes and then introduce into the beans. Yummy.... When digested it will introduce you into the world of Wind Farms, but is is very nice. Or you can have toast spread with butter, then Marmite, and then beans.... Got to go... at the orgasm stage....

Dear Bob. I hope you are well. I am at a loss to understand your interpretation of a joke. Can I offer a free consultation for you as sometimes people will have Lobster Thermidore for a meal, others will have a stew, and others including the well esteemed and wealthy will have cheese on toast. The essence of a meal is what you want to have for the mealtime. Have you tried McDonalds? Regards, Libra Carr.

Hi, Cheese on toast..... Readily available is the Cathedral brand. Cheese on toast has to be strong. Grate the cheese onto a peice of toast and then add Tomato slices or onions. Then add more grated cheese to cover. Otherwise get a portion of sweetcorn onto the toast (has to be done quickly - as the toast may dampen) then sling the grated cheese on top. Bing Bong orgasm time.

Hi again, I suppose the thread is what can you afford.. You can by fresh veg (or so it is advertised as) and then two days later it is withering. Don't throw it away, boil it up, let it cool and the prapse freeze it. You then have a base for a future meal. Pasta and rice is cheap, why not boil up some and then add a jar of pre-prepped sauce. If your partner demands that you attend her address for pre supposed nuptials, all you have lost in cost is the pasta. Pasta versus a bonk..... has to be pasta ha ha.

Hi, I get so fed up when I go shopping on Lordship Lane and see young couple's who do not know what to have for their evening meal. It is hard when you are on your way home, and have to pop into a shop to get something to eat. The scenario is... you move in together, and you both try to shine in the kitchen. But why get a half prepared pre cooked meal that does not do the job! Experiment together and enjoy the experience. If you need any meal ideas or help please leave a message, I will answer your problems. I have had a barbeque in Smugglers Cove, St. Lucia for thirty people where all the food and equipment was sourced there. I have also made field kitchens where you have little space and facilities. No matter how small your cooking enviroment is, I will be able to help. Take care and of course, happy eating. Libra Carr.

Hi, I noted this evening that part of the store is open, a good way forward. I have never eat there or bought drink from there, but I wish them well. When your back is up against the wall and your dreams are being shattered, you will tend to make un PC comments. It is because of the hurt. Good luck to them, and if they need any help I would only be to happy to offer my services free. Regards, Libra Carr.

Dear Group, I used to have a pub/restaurant. I was told by the licensing sergeant of the police that you cannot by law charge admission given that the operation is a 'public house'. It really annoyed me as the acts that I put on were second rate, and if I charged I could have presented better acts. I had door security, but would never have trusted them as they feel they are a law unto themselves. Anyway, when you next go into the Vale have a look at the pricing and food selection structure on the menu, I spent a good hour in there looking at it (slow reader - keep up) I saw sausage and mash more expensive than gammon steak etc. Whoever thought the menu out has a severe lack of imagination. Kind regards to all, Libra Carr

Hi to all and a hippy new year. I have visited the Uplands on many occasions for a drink. I am curious to know what the forum thinks of this pub/diner. Regards, Libra Carr.

Hi, He is at the shop this Saturday from 12 noon until 2pm (I phoned the shop to confirm for you). They do recommend that you book. They allocate 15 minutes between each 'audience' and the actual time is about 10 minutes, so I think that they would squeeze you in. Regards, Libra Carr.

Hello again, I can tell you that Santa is very good. He is billed as the real Santa. When you listen to the owners of the shop, and how they enthuse about him, then take your little ones and listen to him it is amazing. I read the article in today's Metro. An interview with Santa, the Santa that is retained by Hamleys Toy store. He could do with sitting with the Booteeki Santa. The Booteeki Santa tells the little one's that they must be good, they must tidy their rooms, they must help thier Mums and Dads, and with the parents look out into the night sky, beyond the birds, beyond the planes and you will see a little twinkling light. That is Santa on his sleigh. He encourages the little ones to draw him a picture so that he can put it on his log cabin wall, and then....gives them chocolate, a signed photo, and a present. This Santa also answers on Christmas day emails from children (via the parents email address) and tells them what he is doing! Can you name any other'Santa' from any store, arcade, mall, that does that? Regards, Libra Carr. ps. Evidently, he had over three thousand emails last year from children/parents when he was on channel four and other gigs, he has appeared at the opening of St. Pancras International station this year, and is pencilled in for either the Jeremy Vine or Chris Evan's Show on BBC Radio Two.

Oh how sad can some people be, is this what life in East Dulwich is all about? I like traditional things. I am really sorry if I have banged on about this Santa thing, but other contributors bang on about why has the Hi Fi shop put a barrier outside their shop, or getting refused entry into a green festival on Goose Green, or why was the Iceland shop closed. It is so easy to criticise other people contributions, take a deep look at yourself, can you say that you are perfect? I await your reply Mark. Merry Christmas Mark! Libra Carr

Hi, There is a cat that matches your photo that has been around Oakhurst Grove. If you look for him/her from number 30 and head towards the green restaurant on East Dulwich Road?. It might be the same one. Regards, Libra Carr -
Hi, Just a thought, If Nero's get kicked out as local residents we could form a consortium and run a Cafe/coffe bar ourselves. Oh and by the way Nero's sell junk which the Council believe to be food.... Me ow Me ow

Hi again, The nights are getting colder, your stressed after a long day's work. You think 'What shall we have for dinner tonight'. This recipe is easy and simple, and uses ingredients sourced from Lordship Lane. Thick Carrot and Swede Puree of Soup with Hot Rolls. For convenience you can by already buy diced swede and carrot (Somerfields) or, if you prefer take two large carrots and cut a swede so that the swede wieghs an equal amount. clean and dice into small squares. Take a pint of water and place into a large pan and then slowly introduce a crumbed vegetable stock cube and salt and pepper to taste. Bring to the boil and then introduce the vegetable and cook until tender. Turn off the heat source and allow the vegetable to rest for five minutes. Whilst the veg is resting turn on your oven to the equivalent of gas mark 6. When the oven heat has stabilised place par cooked rolls (Sainbury's, Somerfield or Iceland) onto the top rack and leave for 5-6 minutes or until browned. Go back to the veg and using a liquidiser reduce the veg so that it is consistent. Reheat the swede and carrot puree and when slowly bubbling serve into a nice large soup dish. serve the dish with the fresh cooked rolls and butter. A snack meal that is perfect for a winters night and that you can prepare when you are running the bath or shower!. Enjoy. [email protected]

Hi, It is really sad that the owner of the cafe wants their custom. Clearly, the owner of the cafe has a duty of care for the safety and well being of the customer, I believe that this also extends to other people within the vicinity of the aggressor. Nearly all contractors leave on their 'Hi Viz' vest. For avoidance of doubt look at the contractors name which will appear somwhere on the vest (if you are able). Finally, when the numb heads are not there, I would go inside and speak to the manager/owner and advise you are not happy and advise that if it does'nt stop you might make a formal complaint. Having had such a response on this site will make me not want to go there and hopefully everyone else!. Its a human right for a person to go about their business without fear or intimidation. If it continues you might want to go to the community (safer Southwark) office which is at the lodge in the small industrial estate on Goose Green. That said, when you look at the safety wardens they do not do appear as if they care about the safety of residents, visitors or traders. I will have to leave it there as thats another story for another day. Regards, Libra Carr.

Hi, I popped into Booteeki (the shop if you have little one's) yesterday and had a look at the preparations for the arrival of Santa this weekend. It is really nice and cosy. With sheepskin rugs on the floor it looks very warm and inviting, and is very different to the usual Grotto. I took my nephew last year and it was magical. On the fireplace were real mince pies and on the floor next to Santa's side were fresh carrots with the stems on for the reindeers. Not only do you get a present, some gold chocolate coins (if you are really good) but a autographed photo of Santa as well. Also, if Mums and Dads are not to busy they can send a email to Santa on Christmas morning (for their little ones) and he will reply the same day. On speaking with one of the owners she told me that people return year after year, and it has got to the stage where they now have to take bookings. Santa is at Booteeki, Melbourne Grove on the weekends of the 8/9th and 15th/16th although the second weekend is extremely busy. We are going this weekend as when its quieter I think you get a little bit more time. Regards, Libra Carr.

You are quite right, you pursue the owners. I was just mentioning that road as a afterthought.

Hi one and all. I have recently noticed stores reducing prices on chilled items and leaving them out so that the products temperature rises. Last week I noticed Chicken, Salmon, Turkey legs and floweres on the same trolley in Somerfield. The trolley was left near to where they sell hot chickens. This is not the first time that this has happened. On previous visits I have told the staff nicely that I believe the fine is ?10k and could possibly leave the offending member of staff without a job. I have had occasions to return three chickens that were off, and although they apologise, the problem still occurs (the chickens that I returned were out of the chiller and not reduced). Another store that has a problem is Iceland. I went in there the other day and noticed that food was left at the till when someone had changed their mind about buying it. The item was Pate. Surely, staff realise that they are in a freezer shop and should be mindful that refused items should be returned to the chiller asap. Oh by the way, I only go in there for Stella Lager as it is a good few pounds cheaper there, and they cant go wrong with cans or can they...... Regards, LibraCarr. That said I do not tend to buy food from the store as it more expensive, but cleverley marketed.

Hi, Just to advise you that you can pursue the council if your vehiclee has been damaged. I lived in York and a driver succesfully sued the council. There are guidelines that council are supposed to adhere to. If they exceed the height (as in the case of the private road adjoining East Dulwich College) you can claim. Regards, LibraCarr.
