  1. Hi, I thought the ident 'Harriet Harpic' would be more apropriate. Regards, Libra Carr.
  2. Hi, I to have noticed the snails and would love to have them on a menu. The French snails or the one's from the Mendips are a lot smaller, In a nice butter and garlic sauce, they would be a meal in themselves! Regards Libra Carr.
  3. Hi, Just to add another little note to my last posting. The Council are obliged to act if you make a complaint. If they do not act and you have placed them on notice, I believe you can issue a writ of mandamus or an order of certiorari. (interpretation: A prerogative order from the High Court instructing an inferior tribunal, public official, corporation, council, etc., to perform a specific public duty relating to its responsibilities). For instance: you complain, the council ignore you. You place them on notice giving them 14 day's to respond, they fail to respond, you go to a legal rights service and they will gladly help you in making the council perform there legal duty. Alternately, buy a torch and carry a panic/attack alarm which I believe is free from some most Met Police Stations. Regards, Libra Carr.
  4. Hi, The Pistachio Club has a new Chef and the food now has greater flavour. The FOH Manager is exuberant about the change, and will give you a complimentary glass of port when the bill is produced. I can honestly say if we want a Sunday evening buffet, I have not found anywhere better than the club or the Surma. Regards, Libra Carr.
  5. Hi, The lights in Oakhurst Grove are part of its charm, years ago when it had gas lights it was better. You will also notice that because of its darkness it does not attract youths intent on spraying grafiti on anything that is stood still, as they need light to perform their artistry. Because of our work (shifts Etc.) we leave and return at all hours and do not feel threatened, I would suggest if you are able to seek out a better lit street, or if you use Oakhurst Grove and are worried, walk down the centre of the road. I believe Oakhurst Grove is a secure area as I have noticed on occasions that if there is excess noise people do look out of windows. I for one have heard a noise and got up to make sure everything was alright. Kind regards, Libra Carr.
  6. Hi, Not being computer wise, I have logged onto the southern train site to book tickets to Brighton, Littlehampton, Arundel and other stations within their area. Each time I have gone to the site, I have clicked on tickets and anything else that might allow me to buy a ticket from the company. Having failed on numerous occasions, I decided to telephone them to book a ticket.... Would you believe that they do not issue online tickets, you have to go to either National Rail or National Express East Coast to buy tickets! My point is why do they have a website that is supposed to be 'all singing - all dancing' a site that cannot issue tickets, take the full amount and not have to give commission to a third party for sales. Is it no wonder that train travel has increased in price! Thats it, moan over. Regards, Libra Carr.
  7. Re: You know you're an East Dulwichite when.... You are woken by people pulling small bags with wheels on as they find every crack and cranny on there way to work. You do not get annoyed at people crossing the side roads on the lane without looking. You notice that the operative on till seven in Somerfields is the fastest, and you take bets with other people queing. You forgive the recycling team as they noisily go about there business, as they are our saviours. You smile at the stall holders as they try to sell you art deco, when a better description would be scrap and tat. You smile at the waste of resources in Foxtons, and note that soon they will be forced by rising costs and the downturn in the market to make their own descision and turn off the large screen tv. And finally..... You accept that Southwark Council are probably the best council there is! Regards, Libra Carr.
  8. Hi, Having read all of the postings the moral must be to get out there and do your own shop. Can you be to busy not to get food/product that you need to survive? Sainsbury's are open 24 hours a day (at a cost to the enviroment) so that you can get want you want. Other stores also open late. Why wait three to four hours for a late delivery, when you could have got your shop in less than an hour? Regards, Libra Carr.
  9. Hi, The trouble with Somerfield is the lack of staff training, I think that sometimes they think that you are there for there benefit! They talk to each other and ignore you, items on the shelf are not currently priced and read wrong at the check-out, and most importantly, they place chilled items that are getting to the end of life period on wire trolley's so that you can enjoy food poisoning after your meal. The new manager is always to be seen standing outside the former amusements smoking, which must make the staff annoyed as they are working and he is not!. Having traded at the shop for many years, I think the cashier may have been on a jolley and forgot that she had to give you money. I do not think it was on purpose. Regards, Libra Carr. p.s. Tip of the week - Do not buy any 'out of date items that were chilled and are placed on a trolley. Your health is at risk!
  10. Hi, I took my partner to Mr Lui's for our first date. It was exceptional. Over the years it has gone down though. The time before last I had a meal dropped down the back of my blazer, the restaurant went quiet, the poor girl was mortified. Three months ago we went again and asked for food warmers to keep the dishes hot at the table, but were told that they no longer serve them. Given that we had purchased a banquet, and it would take more than a few minutes to eat, I was disapointed as I do not like to eat cold food. I think it has changed hands as we always had fantastic meals and service. Still, I suppose upon reflection the first meal was good, and thats what mattered. Regards, Libra Carr
  11. Without a doubt the Pistachio Club and the Surma. We have a problem where we are known in both and have to approach each restaurant from a different angle. My favourite part of the buffet is prawn and spinach. If either do not have it, they will prep it and put it on the buffet table. What more can you ask. Regards, Libra Carr.
  12. Hi, Just to advise, the red Southwark Council parking car (hybrid) is used 24 hours a day. I saw it exiting Manor Place Council Yard at 20.05 this evening. Enforcement of parking is now done on a 24 hour basis. Its not safe to think that after six you will be OK. For instance three wardens wait outside (covertly) Manor Place, Walworth, Police station after 18.00Hrs to issue tickets to the persons entering MacDonalds, The Police Station and the Pizza shop. Drivers are of the belief that parking restrictions end at 18.00Hrs. This is not so. A simple tip is to look out for the displayed signs, then you will not be caught out. Regards, Libra Carr.
  13. Hi, Nice one Burbage! Regards, Libra Carr. ps. What uniform do Prostitutes wear? I need to know to avoid them Ha Ha.
  14. Hi, Not bored, just very very saddened that people get a job, put on a uniform, and do not give a monkey's about there appearance or impressions they create. Southwark wardens do not create respect. They were laughed at and consequently the council changed the uniform, in the hope that it would improve, It did not. It is the same with the PCSO's they just get laughed at. I have not seen one person give them respect. Shopkeepers are polite to them but that is all. Sadly, they are in the middle. The sooner they create respect for themselves by wearing their hat properly and not on the side and the sooner they appear smart, the respect may be greater for them. I travel the country and today saw officers in Exeter, Devon and in Nottingham looking smart. If other towns and city's can do it why can't we? Regards, Libra Carr.
  15. Hi, Just to clear the matter. A person wearing the uniform of his employer is deemed to on duty whilst wearing the uniform. My wife is uniformed but changes out of uniform when going out at lunchtime. This seems to compound the laziness of these particular officers. The MET are far more tolerant than any other employer I know. Besides, if you are going to work, and you know the food is not what you like, you take your food in. The point that I tried to make was that they were scruffy, unkempt, had a very large bag of food, and created a bad impression of themselves and colleagues Regards, Libra Carr.
  16. Hi, Or should it be BOGOF - Book one get one free? Regards, Libra Carr.
  17. Hi, Given the almost perfect immigration raid, did the officers get clubpoints or Brownie points for the initative. A fact is that Tesco do a thorough check on all employee's. The only way that a raid would be justified is that if one person was using another persons legitimate documents for employment. This would show up if cross reffed with the Revenue and Customs. One car, Four officers and a meat wagon was all that was needed. It seems they were using a hammer to crack a pistachio. Regards, Libra Carr.
  18. Hi, Just to clear up the confusion, the point that I was trying to make was that the PCSO's appeared un-profesional with their swagger and food in the carrier bag. It is not the first time I have seen them or wardens doing shopping whilst on duty. If they are working then they should work. All nicks have good canteen facilities, and if that food does not appeal bring your own in. They lose respect because they do not gain respect. Oh and by the way I am male not female. The moral of the story is not to assume. Regards, Libra Carr.
  19. Hi again, I thought I read recently that there was a new keep fit opening where Booteeki was. I also thought that someone posted that they were designing it, and would open soon. My question is - If it opens before Christmas will the Santa be there again and if so will the theme be 'Pilates of the Carribbean' Regards, Libra Carr
  20. Hi, This evening (6pm) I walked behind to PCSO'S laden with take away food from the Dulwich Tandoori and heading towards the nick, I then walked past Barclay's and saw two Police Officers withdrawing cash! My question is - were the two PCSO's getting food for prisoners or was it that they got the food for officers, and because they charged for going the two PC's had to withdraw extra money. Either way you would have thought that they would have given them a lift, to keep the food warm. Its a darn good job we do not have to pay for the police service, if we did they might be held to account. There, thats another moan of my chest! Regards, Libra Carr.
  21. Hi again, I would imagine so as when the chopper is scrambled it feeds the direction/location of the culprit to ground based vehicles.Given the overall cost of the helicopter, they do not launch it unless needed. Regards, Libra Carr.
  22. Hi, Just to advise that the helicopter was deployed to follow a suspect car/person last night in the East Dulwich area, having exited the Peckham area and a lack of response cars available the chopper was utilised. Thermal imaging facilities were used only to track the suspect. Regards, Libra Carr.
  23. Hi, If the driver admitted the collision was her fault, and you have the registration of the vehicle, the operating company are duty bound to give you the information you require. I would advise that you pursue this. If this goes to court, and I would recomend that you insist that it does, the driver will have to swear that the evidence that she gives is true. You might want to also consult an accident investigator to determine the damage and the driver responsible. The cost of the investigator is recoverable as legitable costs. Good luck. kind regards, Libra Carr.
  24. Hi, In my anger I forgot to mention that I saw at least 27 cars with tickets on them, from East Dulwich Grove to the Nick via the back roads. If they concentrated their efforts on crime support they might be more acceptable in this age, for instance if they saved the shoplifter from being beaten by the Somerfield staff, they may get brownie points. Regards, Libra Carr.
  25. Hi, Not yet. My bank only did the transaction on Saturday. This is the english banking system. That said, either the PCSO's have access or their superior's to the DVLA computer and would be able to check (if they can be bothered) whether a tax disc was being sent out. It is my opinion that they (the PCSO's) only want to make numbers up to look good. If they were to face a serious incident they would poo themselves. Any comment from a PCSO's would be welcome. Also, why do the community wardens always look unkempt and unsmart, if I was the council I would sack ..... the lot. (edited) Kind regards, Libra Carr.
