  1. Hi, I to have noticed the restaurant empty night after night. Over the last few years the venue has not succeeded due to its irregular opening hours, now that it has been taken over again you would think that the owners would advertise it. I suppose it is a question of finances! Finally well done to the first poster as you havce created awareness and got the ball rolling. My wife is from St. Lucia so I think that we will try it and perhaps post our revue. Kind regards, Libra Carr
  2. Hi, I went into the store on Saturday at 7.10am. I got bread, milk and rolls. I went to the checkout with my purchases and was moved from checkout to checkout. In all 4 or 5 checkouts closed at 7.15am why do they not stagger the closures? I was told to go to a machine, no sorry no nothing. I have compained about this before and was told that 40% of customers enjoy using the machines. I go to Sainbury's on the A1 and in Meadowhall, Sheffield but neither have the machines. All I want is some personal service. In the end I just left my purchases and went to Tesco Express where I was served within seconds. I used to spend about 100.00p minimum in the DKH store per week, now Tesco's and Somerfield get my money. One thing is that you will need to be aware of is that when you have your meeting, it will be purely cosmetic, after all, I have never witnessed a monkey that can talk. Kind regards, Libra Carr
  3. Hi, My barber was a redhead... no hair just a redhead. I had my hair cut last week and it cost me 5.50p Regards, Libra Carr.
  4. Dear Barry, Is it possible to reinstate regular trains to East Croydon Please?. Also I would like to add that the rat problem is not the problem of Southern (unless they do not have a valid ticket). The problem is with Domino Pizza and the demolition of the Hospital. It caused the rat population to mobilise to an altogether better area. Kind regards, Libra Carr.
  5. Hi, The other day I saw three children checking bikes on Lordship Lane, Northcross Road and then into Uplands Road, there were three of them. Clearly they were out to steal. I went into the music shop on Northcross Road to ask for the local Police number, but he did not have it, he suggested that I dial 999 which I did not want to do. Anyway, I did and apologised to them and explained the situation. The result was the area was soon noticably full of PCSO's and Wardens, and the odd police car. There appearance maybe unrelated but the moral of the story is.... if in doubt check it out. Regards, Libra Carr.
  6. Hi, I guess they gave up that idea but introduced self scan checkouts in a move to move you forward quicker. I have visited three other stores but have not seen a self checkout. I guess East Dulwich is the leader for the future brain dead customer that cannot communicate with a unresponsive cashier.... Bring back the Daleks! Regards, Libra Carr.
  7. Hi, This Plaice has a reputation for battering poor humans with exorbitant prices. I queried the price of a meal and was amazed at the attitude of the staff and was told 'pay up or eel eject you'. Go back to the sixties gangster London, they would not speak to Frankie Prawn or Jack the Kipper like that!. regards, Libra Carr.
  8. Dear Mrs Y, Can you please tell us what the Southwark News said on their page 3 article as I have tried looking for it. Kind regards, Libra Carr.
  9. Hi, It was tried today, but after opening, and some thirty five minutes later it was abandoned as everyone in East Dulwich was heading for the half price legs of lamb. That section was cleared out in less than 20 minutes of opening. Leaving you with the alternative leg of lamb at some 10 -12 pounds more expensive. You also had to follow the sheperds directing you into another isle. They will try the system again on Wednesday when yes you guessed it, the legs of lamb will be in stock again. It is worthy of note that if you enter the store and sing, they do try to help you to get your shopping and get you to the nearest available checkout quickly. I find it works very well when I sing 'I am a cider drinker', by the Wurzels especially if my eyes are glazed over! Oh well, I had better go as my carer has just come in. Kind regards, Libra Carr.
  10. Hi, Posters are up and displayed!! Regards, Libra Carr. (Only member of the East Dulwich Popular Front)
  11. Hi, As we were entering the park we noticed some children with parents picking Daffs, Once picked they then discarded them on the floor to die. I picked them up and took them home to give them water, I let the daffodils enjoy the serenity and beauty of my home. I did not charge these poor flowers rent nor food to keep them alive, and I consider I was public spirited in keeping these flowers alive. So why did the male in a 4x4 Reliant Robin, with air horns (must be enviromently friendly as all they use is air) toot his horn at me! Kind regards, Libra Carr Only member of the East Dulwich Popular Front.
  12. Hi, This morning at 8am they had no entry signs in the vegetable area as they were scubbing the floor! Given that the store is open 24 hours, my reasoning is that they should scrub at say 01.00 and then mop over at 7.00. Gee the store has really gone downhill! But this may be that they had a Celeb arriving at 09.30 and the idea was to take the subject (after the meet & greet) straight through to the staff canteen - no out of date stock there then! Also, why is it that the Sainbury's 'Basics' grapes are more expensive than the other type's that are on offer? Bing bong... thats me gone!
  13. Hi, I have just learnt that the DKH store is to introduce a one way system in the store itself. Not content with us scanning our own purchases, they now want us to learn how to avoid congestion in the store. As you enter the store you will follow large red floor arrows that will take you up and down every aisle (thus ensuring you do not miss any product so as to maximise sales) without causing 'Backdraft' (must be a traffic sale term). It will also ensure that pockets do not occur at the end of each aisle. In short, I feel that this may be a way forward (Ikea have arrows) but loath the way the big stores dictae to us the way you shop!! Your comments are welcome. Regards, Libra Carr.
  14. Hi, I walked through the park late last night and saw a female redhead - she had no hair just a redhead! Regards, Libra Carr.
  15. Hi, Last night we decided to go to sainsbugs to get some back-up food for a party. The checkout queues were horrendous. we went into a self scan line and waited thirty five minutes with just two customers in front of us. The poor lady in front of me had to have the attendant scan her authorisation card at least ten times as did the man in front as well. A announcement over the PA system apologised for the lack of 'till trained' staff. When I finally got to the till I too had to have the assistant come back at varying times of the check-out to authorise items. I was annoyed and spoke to the customer service manager who told me that the new system is succesful as 37% of the customers are using the scans and, because of the success of the new system in other stores it is here to stay in East Dulwich. This new system did not work in Somerfields and was quickly taken out because people either got fed up and walked out without the shopping or chose to ignore them. My main point is that we are being treated as sub standard human beings, instead of the customer being right we are made to collect, wait and pay for our items without a friendly smile or any kind of assistance. In short it is the customer needs to eat, compete on price, maximise profits for our shareholder syndrome. The downside is that you get stressed and have to wait. I wonder if we should charge them waiting time. I would love to note your experiences in this matter. Kind regards, Libra Carr.
  16. Hi, Take a look at it from another angle. Money is a little tight, you wander into any cafe around East Dulwich and will expect to pay 1.60+ for a bacon or egg sandwich. At Macdonalds you can get a chicken burger for 99p or a double cheeseburger for 1.29 I never, ever thought that I would sing the praises of f/food outlets but at least you know what you are getting. Sandwiches, Rolls, Burgers etc are only a stop gap and when you look at the intake volume of the serving, you cannot expect to be full up for more than a couple of hours. Sorry, better go the doctor's coming back. Regards, Libra Carr.
  17. Hi, This rider also frequents Oakhurst Grove every night at about 9pm and 9.30. There are a lot of small children in the area and it is annoying. The rider is exceeding the speed limit for a built up area and also appears to have the baffle's removed as clearly the sound is illegal as well under the Road Traffic Act. Here is what we did for someone who persisted in doing exactly the same in our last house: Make a note of the time/times that the rider drives past over a couple of day's. When it is about that time on the third day turn of your lights in your house, press a flash camera to your window and as he drives past press the flash button. It is quite funny seeing the rider slow down, stop, and then look around wondering where the 'speed camera' is. He soon gets the message and avoids your road. If it happens in all streets, then he might get a pushbike or move. IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT YOU MUST ONLY FLASH WHEN THE RIDER HAS GONE PAST AS A SERIOUS ACCIDENT MAY OCCUR If that does not do it then report it to the Police. Regards, Libra Carr.
  18. Dear Louisa, Just checked timetables for you, try the 17.42 and change at Tulse Hill. Mind you, you might have to go on a rail replacement bus! By the way, Bromley has a Lidl!!! onwards and sideways Eh! Regards, Libra.
  19. Hi again, I think some commentators might be confused with the brand name! Lidl is not Netto. They have branches all over Europe and in Germany by the forces bases. Most of the product sold in the shop is far superior to any English supermarket brand! Recently bottled fresh water was tested for purity and price and Lidl came tops alongside Yorkshire Water. The only problem with Lidl is that if you only speak 'Sarf Lunnon' you will not understand the labels as they are mosty multi lingual. Regards, Libra Carr.
  20. Hi, I have just been speaking to a friend of my who is a specialist journalist. He said that that he has it from a very reliable source that LIDL are interested in East Dulwich Somerfield and the Woolworths store in Peckham as they are expandining due to the current market. Current trade in their stores is up by 17%, they are looking to expand with stores no more than five miles from an existing branch. Kind regards, Libra Carr.
  21. Hi, I once went out with a 'Redhead'. She had no hair... just a red head. Regards, Libra Carr.
  22. Hi, The problem is not just in East Dulwich. It might be the current climate but I have seen loads of mice everywhere I go. Although they appear to be field mice, I think they like foxes have become more urbanised. Another problem with the increase in rats and mice is that part of the hospital was pulled down and they relocated. Also, having relocated closer to chicken and kebab shops they seem to flourish on the waste left by people on the streets and the pouring of waste chicken fat and kebab fat into the sewers by the owners of these shops. You have to remember... we use the tube, they use the sewers. Regards, Libra Carr.
  23. Hi, Has anyone noticed that the cleaning time counter is always at zero in the male toilets. Is it that the toilets have not been cleaned or is it that... Sorry my carer is giving me more tablets. Regards, Libra.
  24. Hi, Sainsbury's DKH have on sale 568Ml (pints) of Stella at a pound ! Its great getting a bargain if you can bear the blue rinse brigade and the 40+ year old mums that leave the trolley's in mid aisle or stop to bloody well yap. Carers still here, not gone yet. Regardss, Libra Carr.
  25. Hi, My cat likes the cat that is in a shop window! He has got a crush on it. No I am not telling you which shop it is in, as all the other moggies will congregate outside. Soon we could have a Moggies versus Hoodies. Well better go, My carer has just turned up. Regards.
